An autumn thru-paddle of the Oswegatchie river from Lows Lake ending near Wanakena NY. Three days and nearly 40 miles of paddling despite the forecast of rain and thunderstorms in the Adirondacks.

It was beautiful out there. Thanks for watching, we got lucky with all the rain, high water is clutch on that section of water!

Loved the adventure. I travel from inlet to site 9 at the Robinsons River every fall but this year I missed my trip due to a major surgery. I am so happy you were able to bring me along! Looks like you had high water levels this year.

Thanks! We definitely had high water we missed a lot of beaver dams due to the heavy rain. We timed it pretty well!

Canadians call the front guy a "dippah". And now you know why they call it the Adiraindacks. Camped in the same spot (your first camp site) on Lows, that was grassy pond Mountain... climbed that a long time ago. Lows is a cool spot in the early summer, the loons are everywhere and boisterous, Barred Owls calling in-between. View from the mountain is not spectacular, this side of the Adirondacks are kinda non vertical, but you can see forever. . We did had a pair of A-10's fly even with us while up their, back when they were still local and on their way to and from Fort Drum! LOL, .. . Nice trip!

@@DanielleRootes it was the right choice for sure. The trip is already complicated enough with all the gear and dealing with beaver dams.

Great adventure Danielle! I loved that paddle down from High Falls this year too. Especially with blue skies and bright sunshine. Glad you had high water like we did although we kissed a couple boulders on our way out. That Buck Brook Lean-to is fabulous to stay at either on the way in or out. Great hammock trees all around, especially in the back. I hope wolfie didn't sneak back home with 'ya! LOL!

Definitely an immature Bald Eagle. It takes over 5 years for the head to get fully white. That one was probably 1.5ish years old (about the time they start to get the tinge of a lighter color in the head)...

Finished your video. Great scenery. I've stayed at that lean to several times. Surprised to see water so high there in the fall. Also have suggested in past, you must get to northern Ontario. I'm only 20 minutes from border so have been there as many times as the ADKs. Algonquin Park is nice, but go further to Temagami area. Fantastic.

Looks like the high water made it easier to cross the beaver dams, unless you edited the video of them out! Also, if the pizza/beer tasted ad good as it looked, where was that?
@DanielleRootes
@DanielleRootes Жыл бұрын
It dumped rain all day and night for 3 days. We had high water for sure. We still had to cross about 6-7 dams by foot and it’s a pain in the ass to film that and not fall/ drop my stuff/ lose my boat just to film something. I also didn’t want to show every second of the trip because it was 3 hours of video! The pizza is from the food truck that parks at Raquette Brewery. Thanks for watching.

Good job! Haven't done that trip in years! Want to do it again. Looks like water levels were perfect! Always a good time running around the woods in the rain looking to hang your food! Is that Miracle Noodle any good? Thanks for the vid!

Great to see you back canoeing! I'm halfway through your great vid. Never did the traverse, but paddled upstream from Inlet a lot. Maybe next year. How long did it take you to do the portage? Any more info on someone stealing canoe racks?
@DanielleRootes
@DanielleRootes Жыл бұрын
Thanks Greg! The first one took about 30 mins and the second one took a little over an hour. It’s 2.2miles. Haven’t heard anything new about the rack thief. I heard from the Owner of Raquette River Outfitters that it’s been happening and have been leaving people stranded with a canoe out there with no service to call anyone. Pretty messed up.
