William Blake was an English poet and visionary artist whose unique work gives us a glimpse into an entirely different world. His art was ignored and neglected, and few people took his work seriously. He was generally seen as a madman.
His vivid imagination, visions and mystical experiences lead him to a spiritual task that was the exploration of his inner self. For Blake, the essence of human existence is imagination.

It's an amazing feeling, it kinda gives you a sense of existence if that makes sense Sometimes i doubt my own mental capacity as an individual, thinking that i'm the dumbest human with every choice i make. I am a big believer in the collective unconscious although my own ideas may differ from Jung's. I believe that we are all part of this human experience and there are similarities that emerge as a result. An example is what you have said reminds me of a poem by Charles Bukowski, You can spot them these strange ones you wont find them with the crowds but from them come the only good poems So I wholeheartedly agree with you, it is the spark of life some of us carry within us. We weep as it dims in our heart and sing as it shines.

"Essentially an artist is someone who is expressing the mass mind or the mass subconscious mind of the people. And when the artist makes that work it's been exhibited and people recognize the spirit, or something of themselves in that work. The artist is someone who channels a force or an energy. An artist speaks to the Eternal and the archetypes and then showing that those forces even exist. The artist makes a piece of sculpture or painting and he casts that spell, that visual spell into the world. And people become energized by that and they become motivated. If you see great art or you're exposed to great music, you become energernzied, sometimes you even feel invincible. The most powerful force is to bring inspiration to someone" - Fen de Villiers

@@deanasaurs well if you think about it, it's the polar opposite. Take what the OP said and apply it to the most common denominator in terms of violence. Violence is hypnotizing, be it physical or otherwise. Psychos can't have any regard for others, they are especially good in putting stuff out, they just push and push. This is seductive because we all have the innate desire to be able to do that to a lesser extent but most of us also can't compromise others in order to achieve it. That price is losing yourself and becoming the monster. Haha it seems you could say a psychopath is selfless in that regard.

Recently I've really got into art for some reason. Looking at art (and pictures) can make me feel a certain way that is hard to explain. The way someone has drawn a tree, for example, I notice the detail and the effort and I kind of imagine, or feel, the artist themselves. I only draw trees, I love trees.

Blake saw the reality of things through the Imagination and it is inspiring to see that this is what he remained true to, from the beginning to the end, despite neglect, failure, penury, and other earthly ills that might well have deflected him from his central purpose. The painting of The Spectre over Los immediately called out to me and reflected some issues in me that I've been having with work. I started looking up prints for the painting before I could finish the video. Having done this made that last quote of William hit very hard for me. "If these spectators could enter into these images in his imagination,..." Etc, thanks for validating my existence and my problems 300 years before I was born, William. Thank you for struggling before I had to so you could help me with these thoughts. I hope to pay it forward to the next guy, somehow. Thank God some people are kind enough and imaginative and willed enough to put their human experience down for others through art and poetry. It's incredible that people who lived so long ago can make us feel such catharsis through space and time. Thank you so much for having covered him, I had seen a few of these paintings in the past but never new anything about the artist. Your content is so valuable to just be able to listen to. This was excellent. The images and excerpts of Blake's work were well-selected; the narration cleanly written and voiced; the editing and pace superb. Thank you so much. I took a course in Romantic poetry as an undergraduate, loved the course, but was drawn to Wordsworth and Shelley and Keats; not so much Blake. His poetry hit me differently as an (almost) old man. Some of his visual artwork is fantastic, too. His overall vision was a celebration of the imagination. That is certainly something to celebrate.

26:51 This is a very accurate painting ! It's because in the "story of Adam and Eve" script Satan wasn't the Snake, he was actually TALKING through a Snake.Yeah, basically a ventriloquist or a guy who simply told the snake what to tell Eve, but a ventriloquist is more probable ! "In the Garden, she is separated from Adam: she stays with the female animals and Adam with the male ones. The devil persuades the male snake to rebel against Adam and his wife: at the hour the angels go up to worship the Lord, Satan disguises himself as an angel and speaks to Eve using the mouth of the serpent. The serpent seduces Eve, who swears to give the fruit to eat to Adam too. The serpent places in the fruit the poison of his wickedness, which is lust. When Eve eats it, she discovers that she is naked. All the trees of the Garden lose their leaves. Only a fig tree, the plant she ate of, still has leaves, and she hides her shame with its leaves. Eve looks for Adam and deceives him: he also eats the forbidden fruit. (chapters 15-21)"

That's the most ridiculous load of clap-trap I have ever read. although, now that I read it it, it seems even stupider that for all this "time" people of religion have actually been following the voice of Satan and believing the human body is shameful and wanting to physically connect with the opposite sex is 'bad". Your god didn't say it, but Satan. So yeah, lets listen to Satan. Good plan...

It’s weird that so many people have to take psychedelic substances to access their own faculty of imagination. For those who already have active imaginations, it’s even weirder, but after they take all these substances they suddenly understand the way you’ve always seen the world. Then even more weirdly they remain convinced and try to convince you that you need to take the same substances to fully grasp reality. It’s like it’s impossible for people to realize there are still some people around whose psyches aren’t crippled to the same extent.

Wow, he was although religious he saw beyond its construct and systematic hold of some people. He also saw beyond what the day to day life is like, he criticized society and its disconnect with the natural world. He thought as an esoteric yet still somewhat holds to his Christian faith.

I easily identify with Blake, as much of my art stems from the beyond rather than the seen world. I’m inclined to agree with most of his ideals except for that “an evil act is better than being passive good.” Nietzsche had a similar stance, yet water over time smooths the stone to sand. I find their stance on “passive good” relatable to the human trait impatience. For passive does not necessarily mean powerlessness if used correctly. As a feminine being perhaps I see it differently being able to create another human being with my body with no conscious action after the initial interaction. Very well done, thanks for such a lovely production.
