Some amendments / additions. - You can reset your skill and perk points at your ship, it will just cost bits. - Poison damage is called corrosion damage (not poison damage). - There is a slow down time ability called "Time Dilatation", although I hardly used it. - You can sneak and deal more damage. - There is a pickpocket ability, I personally haven't used it once. - Follower's name is "Parvati" and not "Pavrati" as I pronounced it.

Honestly i liked the "Fence" idea alot from oblivion. You shouldnt be able to sell stolen goods to the same merchant thats just dumb AI. Now sure you can sell to a merchant who is not in that area, but if you are in that area then you shouldnt be able to sell to the same merchant you stole from and rather go see a fence and fence all your stolen goods. The thief guild was my favorite in oblivion. honestly in this game the items should have a security measure anyway. like in real life usually there is a security pin on items that wont let you take it out the store thats why it makes more sense to sell stuff to a fence.

Tinkering does not use weapon or armor parts. It costs bits [money]. Everyone seems to miss out on ammo type being a factor as well. I'm not talking about "elemental" damage. Heavy, light, and energy type ammo have their own separate effects as well. Heavy ammo works better against more heavily armored enemies, light ammo is good against creatures, and energy ammo works better against unarmored enemies. This is in addition to elemental damage types, so adding a plasma damage mod to a weapon that consumes heavy ammo has the benefits of both. It will work well against armor, and do additional damage to flesh enemies. As an example, the best anti-robot weapon you can make would be a heavy ammo weapon that has an electric damage mod on it. It will take advantage of the electric damage weakness of mechanical enemies as well as shred their naturally higher armor rating. It's also worth pointing out that tinkered weapons are slightly better than the same weapon of the same level with the same mods that you'd find as loot drops. It's cumulative as well, but quickly becomes prohibitively expensive. You don't have to buy much of anything from vendors in the Outer Worlds. I pretty much only ever used vending machines to dump items for bits. I'm on my third playthrough, and this has consistently been the case. The only times you need to buy from vendors or vending machines are the rare cases where a merchant has a unique item [gold swirl items], for data, if you need specific items related to a side quest, and if you want specific weapon and armor mods. All but the last one you will always buy from NPC vendors rather than vending machines. You will find more than enough ammo, armor, weapons, and consumables just lying around to more than sustain yourself. You do still want money for bribes and for tinkering, so it's not a useless resource and you do indeed want to balance out bits and scrap. Also, always break down scrap and repair items at a workbench. You get more scrap and use less of it than you do when you repair or break down from your inventory. Your weapon does not stop working when it reaches 100% degraded. It just has a debuff [-50% damage on normal, more on higher difficulties] but will still function. It is a good idea to keep your weapons in the best shape you can, but if your weapon "breaks" it's best to just make the trip to a workbench and take care of it there rather than waste scrap doing it in your inventory. The same goes for breaking stuff down to make room if your inventory is full. It's better to just make the trip to a workbench or vending machine to dump items off rather than break it down directly on site. Hacking and Lockpicking can also be too high to use shunts or maglocks. Locks need to be within a certain range of your skill to even provide the option to use either. The closer your level is to the lock, the fewer items you'll need. If your related skill is at or above the level of the lock or terminal, you won't need either item to unlock or hack it. KZfaq is worse than usual about these "things I wish I knew" or "starter guide" videos for The Outer Worlds for some reason. Every single one I've watched has had incorrect information in them.

It's not that RPG in terms of combat though, and dialogues are more of a matter of XP gains or not. The game gets more shallow after you go past the 2nd area, Groundbreaker ship. If anything, people who actually played the game extensively and critiqued it, can give it a real review. KZfaqrs who are reviewing hyped games won't go into that deep of a detail to piss off their audience, because the video is made for entertainment purposes rather than informational. You can't throw grenades in the game, AoE is in form of weapons that has them. Weapon damage on standard difficulty levels generally gets thrown out the window if a player is a min-maxer that makes full use of the tinker mechanic and such. The only way to do more damage is to have higher level weapons basically, and at the getgo you can head straight to monarch (which skips a portion of your main story questline if you do it early, so you might lose out on large amounts of XP to do quests on route to it). XP gains in each area varies with the 'levels'... Basically in edge water you are going to get up to ~70XP by lockpicking doors... But get to Monarch and a lockpicked door gives 700 XP. Kills in Edgewater are like 30~150XP. Kills in Monarch can give you like 500~1500 XP.
@subsume7904
@subsume7904 4 жыл бұрын
@@dra6o0n the fighting is very RPG as you can specialize in attacking different body parts or damage type (like science skill for plasma damage), or go for crit damage with long guns. You also learn forms of CC from certain primary skills through the secondary skills you inherit. The dialogue is not just a way to gain EXP, you can completely change the outcome of quests, attitude of NPCs, quest rewards, shoot you even gain access to ENTIRE AREAS based on what dialogue choices you make. I'm getting 500exp per kill near edgewater, EXP does scale with your level, it's not area based. Yes, depending on how upgraded your weapon is, it will do more damage, but the bulk of your damage will come from your secondary skills, not handguns or heavy etc., but the secondary skills you get from upgrading say the science skill for example. You also get secondary fighting skills from dialogue skills. Have you played this game or are you just speculating and spreading false info? Or do you just not understand this game yet?
@dra6o0n
@dra6o0n 4 жыл бұрын
@@subsume7904 Nah the body parts don't matter. Legs is Cripple, Arm is Maim, Head is Blind, and Body is the weapon's special effects. You cause debuffs, but not wounding or crippling a limbs. I wouldn't call that much of a RPG since you can only get around 3-4 shots out of TTD anyways. You overlevel too easily and if you put some effort into your weapons, you get so powerful that its depressing... You will more likely to kill yourself from environmental damage, or fall damage, than a enemy killing you if you are well prepared and have a good loadout. This is coming from someone who actually played the game mind you. I basically exploited the shit out of the game's NPC and environment, you can basically attempt to pickpocket someone in their face intentionally to get caught so you can do a dialogue check to 'escape', which gives you free EXP. What I considered 'RPG mechanics' are things that are not related to narrative. Narrative choices and dialogue checks and such are mostly scripted, and aren't really RPG enough for it to be that enjoyable... Areas are one and done... Is the main problem. Once you clear a 'dungeon' or area, it's done for good. Only field enemies respawn. The same is said for loot in containers, it does not seem to be randomized, but scripted.

PPS - Thanks for the info on the inhaler, I never knew how the extra slots worked. I thought you had to switch between them, but never saw how that was accomplished, so I have been ignoring consumables for the most part (OTOH a nice bit of extra cash selling all of them). That said - on Normal Solo or Hard w/ Companions (I switch between the two), i have not really felt the need for it (although maybe companions would die less if I did, given that perk that shares consumables, assuming things other than health regen work on them). Maybe some of this stuff makes way more sense in the hardest difficulty.

8:16 Pro tip: You can use Tactical Time Dilation in combination with your inhaler, and doing so will heal you when time is slowed just as fast as you would heal without TTD, and standing still will barely consume any TTD at all. This is advised so you don't have to run into cover, or in case you actually can't, and are on the verge of death. Correction: Poison is called "Corrosion" in this game. My opinion: Great video for beginners, and even greater timestamps. Props, my dude! +1

Couple of small corrections: 1. Tinkering costs bits, not parts. And what it actually does is increase the level of the item. So it's crucial if you get say, a favorite Unique you want to keep relevant all game. 2. Companions don't just give you the skill boost from that particular companion perk (like 10 engineering from Parvati). They also contribute a portion of the all the skills listed on their companion ledger to you. For example, Parvati gives you some of her lockpicking, persuade, and engineering. This seems to be about 25% of their skill, but can be increased with 60 Inspiration.

This is seeming more like the No Man's Sky everyone wanted. Main difference I'm seeing is that the gameplay loop is Dialogue->Conflict, repeat. While Fallout 4 is more Exploration->Combat->Looting, repeat. The difference being conflict and combat, one feels like it has more options available, which when given situations like Saugus and skinny malone, isn't fully true

@Shaun Jay Given the other gams they've done and how small TOW is, an ES game is honestly just out of their scope(Unless we get a repeat of New Vegas where all of the heavy lifting is already done for them), at least not unless they completely change the game mechanics to be more topdown/sidescroller like in a good few(I think most) of their other games. That or we get more of a dragons age appearance instead. And that's also assuming people are also cool with something between Oblivion and Skyrim graphics/animation

Obsidian can make a great RPG from a scratch. The Outer World is the evidence. Gameranx said that "this game is cool as hell" and in particular seemed more than he expected. This game is seeming mixed of Fallout, Deus Ex and No Man"s Sky. Main difference I'm seeing is that the gameplay loop is Dialogue-> Conflict-> Looting-> Exploration-> Combat-> Looting, repeat. So this game has both Conflict and Combat so one feels it has even more option available than Fallout 4.

Very interested to see more footage and info... am very much deciding if I want to buy it... am leaning to say yes but the price is still a hurdle... (which is why I usually buy games 1 year after release during a black Friday sale) only real exceptions were fallout 4 and 76

Arcane AND simple? That’s... I just... it’s just that... on a positive note, I love that you’re shooting for the stars and making an effort to use language well. Many of your peers don’t bother so it’s really nice to see. Or hear, anyway. But maybe have another look at arcane. Only if you want to. 10 points for effort.

Ffs I have not seen a single stream or vid that has properly explained the point of aptitude. Aptitude is essentially your characters background/history which supposedly plays a subtle role in the way the player interacts with the world.

I do normally talk to every NPC, to learn things and get Exp via skill checks. But how about the NPC "Burke" in Roseway? I don't recall him having a skill check let alone a plot role. Even so, he'd only be the exception that proves the rule - ALWAYS talk to named NPCs
