I’m an outdoors man, okie, and been a hunting guide about an hour from where you’re at. The first tracks definitely looked like just a full-size buck track to me. Could be an elk kid, but the second one, definitely elk. Not even a really big one, they get to about 700-750 in the witchitas. Buffalo tracks are gonna look more like a cow track but obviously bigger if it’s an adult. Also, no wolves in Oklahoma, I’d guess German Shepard lol.

There’s actually a rare wolf species (red wolves) that still run through here all the way to the Ouachita mountains and into Arkansas. Again super rare and they are trying to get the population to grow. Thank you for the info!

Also, I don’t mean any of this to sound like it’s impossible. New animals are found all the time and “extinct” species have been discovered 100 year after they were declared distinct. Also, genuinely if you ever have suspicious tracks that don’t look right, your more than welcome to send them to me if you would. I don’t claim to be as good as a the Cherokee were a 120 years ago, but I’ve spent my whole life learning as much as a can about tracking. And have seen in person or tracked many animals that are very rarely seen here. And HOLY SHIT, can’t believe I hadn’t seen that!!

OMG! The parallel forest is not cultivated. The refuge is a pristine natural environment as much as it can be, (not perfectly, but with as little intervention as possible). The whole Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge is. It is meant to be as natural an environment as it can be for the animals and insects that make it their home.

@@oneofhis1979 the parallel forest section of the area was intentionally planted as an experiment in combating the dust bowl conditions in the mid 1920’s. It’s highly documented and there are a number of papers written on the experiment. So, yes the parallel forest, while not planted for any type of harvesting, was cultivated for a purpose.

For somebody that talks as if they know things, your knowledge is kinda thin to say the least. Those are NOT red cedar trees. Those are deciduous trees..(trees with leaves" Red cedar are coniferous trees which are (trees that produce CONES and most with needles instead of leavse) The trees that you called red cedar were deciduous because they produced leaves, not cones and needles. Additionally, those are REGULAR SIZED ANIMAL TRACKS. The reason the tracks appear to look BIG is because of something that YOU said, it rained in the "woods" that you were walking in. When animals walk in wet dirt or (better known in the science world known as "MUD") their paw will sink in this mysterious material, "MUD" and will push out the "MUD" on all sides as the paw sinks deeper making the track look larger. I have spent A LOT OF TIME in the "woods" throughout my life, I have hunted, cut down trees for lumber or firewood or just spent time in the "woods" there is NOTHING paranormal or ODD about this. I did hear a couple of the noises that you brought attention to. But really, who knows what those noises were. The only really odd thing was the lack of animal or insect sounds or even the presence of animals while you guys were in the interior of the "woods". In Oklahoma, these large areas of trees are known as "woods" not forest. And one last thing...PLEASE STOP SUCKING YOUR SNOT OR SUCKING YOUR NOSE AND SWALLOWING YOUR SNOT WHEN YOU MAKE VIDEOS. It's a huge turn off and it's disgusting. You did it several times throughout this video. Just saying.

www.atlasobscura.com/places/parallel-forest here you go. They are Red Cedar trees, there are some oak trees and mesquite trees growing inside now but the initial plantings were red cedar. Also if you watch the video closely, a large portion of the tree you see are conifers (until we get outside of the 16 acres site). The science world doesn't use the word "mud". Waterlogged soil would be the appropriate term...though loamy soil types are the best for leaving tracks. Also, it should be noted that tracks don't get magically bigger when the soil is wet. What you are referring to is called haloing. it's when the print is pressed with the weight of the animal and expands the soil then retracts when the animal steps away. This action causes a ring around tracks that give the appearance the track is larger than it is...the size of the actual impression can be used to accurately determine a number of physical attributes of the animal that left them. I call it the Parallel FOREST because that is what it's called...so you know just being accurate with the information. As far as the sniffling, couldn't help it at the time, I had a medical issue that had to be fixed with surgery. Thanks for watching.

Were you able to find any documents or reports about the Parallel Forest? I’ve searched for maybe an hour and all articles I find only learn their info by word of mouth and seemingly none of them have actual sources from where they learned the info. I’m really curious in finding the original plans or at least documents by the government about the forest itself.

Yes there’s documentation, you just have to go the the national archives to get it. However, that documentation only deals with the purchase, the theories into how planting this Forrest could help prevent dust bowl conditions etc. there is a very old doc the mentions Spanish mining operations in the late 1600’s. But other than that I haven’t found anything concrete on anything else.

I'm pretty sure at the point where you discussed how heavy the air felt in the distance a large dark object moved. I'm not sure if you looked back on the video. You captured it just before the comment panned around only to return to the same point when the comment was made. There was a pause movement then camera back on you. Off to the left miscreants. Not sure if it was shadowing and body adjustment or something more. I'm going to see if I can caprure a couple screen shots of what I observed while watching the video. Don't go back without another camera capturing the distant surroundings. You'll come back with some creepy footage.

The bent over twisted trees? You do know your in tornado country right? I live about 50 miles feom this place. Not an Ok native im from Minnesota. Up there you will see this all over. If you could easily get lost in there you have no business in the woods. Also if you think that's thick and dense then you haven't spent much time in the woods, especially Oklahoma forests. I live in northeast Oklahoma and what I consider "thick" is not being able to see 20 feet in any direction because of thorns and trees and vines and river cane all entangled together crawling under and over every single step. The woods you're in would be considered new-growth, open park-like forest. That's easy woods to hike and navigate
