I like your version because 1) you retain the authority status 2) you help guide them in the direction of best next step for the situation. C) you still have the authors suggestion of asking the customer what their option/opinion is as a last resort so you don’t lose the sale. Once you start relinquishing the process you’ve opened yourself to losing control. For example: a customer may begin to dictate the flow of work or directing the price downward. It’s easy to have the “how” or “why” get twisted if the supposed authority doesn’t have a clear definition or strategy for entering other realms of the sales/work flow.

Victor, fantastic content! I would like your advice...how do I transition the sales conversation to my pitch? I sell debt settlement services over the phone, however our company markets for loans. So clients call in for a loan, most don't qualify, thus we pitch debt settlement to help them pay off their debt. My issue is that many people know about the servive and hang up before I share how our program is different to amything they've come across. Hope that makes sense, thanks!
