I actually played DBZ Saga when I was a kid, and it introduced me to the story of Dragon Ball Z. Budokai 3 was the next game I played, and I absolutely loved the theme song.

Fusions is definitely worth a play. The sheer amount of Characters and fusions available is insane. When they say hundreds of fusions, that's pretty close to accurate. If they made a sequel with everyone from the 1st game and added more, plus the characters we have now, it'd have the most characters of any dragon ball game, period, and what's crazier, is we got the smaller version.

Sad they did weird censorship with the swords for the international release. Trunks wielding a stick instead of sword was just goofy

@@bluecanine3374 I was actually fine with that. The whole point of combat in Fusions is to knock your opponent out of the ring and swords really didn't fit in with that. I mean when Frieza got hit by that move in canon he was chopped into tiny pieces then VAPORIZED. I feel like that would just lead to a disqualification in Fusions lol.

You should track down a copy of Dragon Ball Fusions. One of the most unique DB games ever made. It's fun to play, the ability to fuse anyone with anyone never gets old and it doesn't over stay it's welcome. You're missing out. You said you were looking for more RPG stuff after the legacy of goku 2/buu's fury and Fusions is just that.

The dragon ball origins games on the DS and the dragon ball Revenge of King Piccolo were also great games. This was a great list, but I think it was based on "Z" style fighting instead of turn based or Dragon Ball best em ups.

As much as I like this list, I personally find Breakers enjoyable. The only issues that make the game bad to me are the gacha system and the steep learning curve for newer players. Not to mention the new "matchmaking" system for "ranked" is just.. not too good at the moment. Overall, pretty solid list.

I also like Breakers, but it's one of those games that always has a "I like it, but..." quality that keeps me from fully recommending it. It can be fun, but there's always something holding it back for me.

Same, the ranked matchmaking personally is much better than before strives people to actually get better and help with the learning curve I'd say, plus cross play is coming so that's a big opening of opportunities

I think the game is fun, but for me, the monetization is atrocious. We already paid for this game, yet they want us to pay more for basic things with a premium currency? If the breakers was Free to Play, then sure, I would get it. I would even understand DLC packs for new Raiders and Survivors bundled together. But overall, this game is enjoyable.

I actually agree with you about XenoVerse 1. I do think the balance wasn't better, and find the aura burst dash a natural addition to the combat system, but the story and character writing were leagues better, treating the villain as a huge threat by having everyone be more calm confident than arguing amongst themselves and yelling constantly. And the hub world actually had a unique identity, and didn't waste space, requiring teleporters and flight and vehicles to make bareable. I honestly was most hyped for it's return in the newest update, alongside little areas that use the same theming, that should be open 24/7 for those that don't want to run all the way to the damn orb in the sky to make your points count/ deal with the man that's just a drop down menu for some multiplayer modes.

How is Breakers out of character? It’s literally what got Cell started in his saga: absorbing people one at a time before achieving his perfect form and destroying earth. I’ve not played it myself, but even as a low tier fan I like the concept.

In this video you got the right games for the elite section. Those were my favorite types of Dragon Ball games from the good old days from 2001 to 2014. And I can't wait to see the new one comes out very soon

Fusions is a charming db game. Worth a shot, goofy as all heck. The marble style gameplay as you knock dozens of characters around with a single punch is very amusing. Also you can make a Kaiō-shin oc to play through the campaign with.

Shout out to Hyper Dimension on the Super Famicom/SNES. It's a decent fighter for the time with some nice graphics. The only gripe I really have is the limited roster. The other Butoden games (minus GT Final Bout) are also pretty fun. I like the switch between land and sky battle and the other games had a good amount of character variety.

@@KazumaKiryu-0 Official matches yes, but practice ones you still can. The reason they did that was because of friends helping raiders find other survivors which was pissing the other players off. My current issue with the game is the ranked matches system.

Love tenkaichi 3. Played it for hundreds of hours. Everyone i played against learned to not underestimate little buu's combo. And i loved the dialouge between characters in versus mode. Like vegeta (with scouter) and turles was neat. Bardock and raditz kinda touched my heart.

If you’re a fan of turn-based RPGs like Final Fantasy, then I highly recommend Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans on DS. It’s from the devs behind Xenoblade and is a really fun RPG take on the Saiyan saga. It actually has you rely on timed button presses to maximize or minimize damage, so it’s like if Final Fantasy played more similar to a Mario RPG or Legend of Dragoon.

I do agree that The Breakers is kind of an odd set up for a DB game, but i do find it entertaining to just hop on it sometimes and do a round or two, especially if i manage to be the raider. but as a game, yea, there isnt much else to it.

Gotta play Fusions, one of the best RPGs out there, over 1000 playable characters! Extreme Butoden is also pretty fun, if you wanna at least see one of Arcsys' previous DB games before FighterZ, and also the shit ton of assist characters (it has Farmer Goku, Bingo Vegeta, and Mr. Popo). Speaking of Arcsys, their Supersonic Warriors games were also pretty fun last I remember. And speaking of Butoden, there's also Ultimate Butoden on the original DS, which was also a decent fighting game that had a roster of over 50, including a playable King Kai! Also, you should definitely try out Super Dragon Ball Heroes, it also has a ton of characters, half of them being obscure and what-if forms!

You never played fusions?! It's freaking awesome it also brings the what ifs like broly and goku fusion plus the idea of fusing with 5 people to make a giant fusion depending on your character's race. I fully recommend it for your nintendo ds experience.

Breakers is super underrated. It's got its share of issues, but in what other game do you get to experience being an average person trying not to get eaten by Buu? How often do we get to be on the outside of the fight, scurrying for items on the ground while someone is fighting the big bad in the sky? How often do you get to play as frieza hunting down the dragon balls to become immortal? To disregard the game on its face makes me sad. It gets a lot of points from me just for not being a fighting game.

Me personally i would put Dokkan as either great or fantastic. Gameplay is meh popping orbs but what lifts it up for me is the art style, music, characters and i can play it on my phone

I'm impressed with how well u made this list. As a fighting game player, you did these games justice! I like the 2D-style over 3D for competitive fighting games. Tenkaichi are very loved games, but my favorites are the Budokai games. The fighting style is perfect! It was good to see them try to make more 3D-style games like Raging Blast and Xenoverse. When Fighter Z was made it was awesome because we got a Marvel vs Capcom 2 style DBZ fighting game. It was amazing for the FGC. Sparking Zero reviving the Tenkaichi series is beautiful to see. All the fans are excited for it's return. Dragon Ball Z Budokai series are the best Dragon Ball Z fighting games of all time. Infinite world and Burst limit are in that category as well. The fighting mechanics and infinite combos are the best I've seen for DBZ fighting games. Shin budokai still has lots of love from the mod/FGC community and is beyond great for a PSP game! Same for Tenkaichi tag team and the Budokai/Tenkaichi console versions for mods. The new games too, but it's good the classics still get love. Super Dragon Ball Z is underrated! It's still competitive now. Crazy!? Awesome list!!!

I'd recommend eventually playing dragon ball fusions, it's one of my favorite dragon ball games and it was for the 3DS as well, it's a ton of fun when you get the hang of it as well.

I greatly respect your opinion, watching this video makes me want to re-look at some of the DBZ games from set tier lists and reevaluate my criticisms, I’ll admit right here that my view of an entertaining Dragon Ball Z game was too narrow, 😅 but I hope I can at least make purchase via digital if not at the very least a physical copy

Budokai 1 was pretty mind blowing for its time with several things that still hold up today. It's authentic presentation of DBZ, voice acting, cutscene direction and animation, graphics and music were all enough for me to personally place it over Kakarot. The gameplay isn't deep but being able to seamlessly transform to battling just the same in the air and knocking opponents into mountains or different parts of a stage were all things you didn't see often back in 2002. Not to mention the clash mechanic and destroying stages with ultimates was epic as well. A great DBZ game that became *the* blueprint going forward, but falls deeper in the shadow of modern titles as time goes on.

Since you haven’t played DB Fusion I’m going to assume you know of it but for those who haven’t, you fuse characters… thats it, but there’s like a ton of characters. Not just everyone we all know (you even fuse Cell and Frieza together and characters like SSJ 3 Broly are here too) but also random characters you fight during your playthough and even you own CAC who can fuse with everyone (I’m not joking)
