​@@smcremix8791 I just went from the Alienware 34" dwf to the lg 45" and after getting used to the 800r curve the lg is a night and day upgrade over the dwf. Not like there is really anything wrong with the dwf besides trash sdr brightness. But the lg is way brighter in sdr and hdr mode and looks so dang good. Litterly have to squink becasue its so freaking bright in some games. My 34dwf never in almost the 2 years i've had it has done that to me. And the new models next year are supposed to be even brighter. Like why? lol And the ppi which some bash all down the lg's ultrawide line up isn't even an issue to be 100% honest. I don't see what some complain about. Its freaking clear. Even at 84ppi on the 45". No text fringing no blurriness. I can't see the individual pixels unless I'm right up on it which I can do that with any monitor 4k or not. Plus dldsr works great at 5160x2160 If you want that extra crisp imagine but damn it hurts the performance of my 4090. Vram usage goes way up and hits the 24gb limit in some games and fps tanks hard on all games. I can see why lg hasn't released the 5160x2160 versions yet of these ultrawides and waiting until next year with the new 5090 coming in a few months. But even then then the 5090 is going to get hard at that above 4k resolution.. Just hope down the stack the 34",39" and 45" that lg makes them duel resolution so that you can have native 3440x1440p and 5160x2160p like the 4k monitor they released this year does does. It would be a no brainer and I would upgrade again for sure.

I'm 100% in the same position as you, as much as this monitor looks fantastic, I'm so used to the sheer size of the 45" and the immersion that comes with it that I switched back, even though the PPI is worse as you said (it hasn't really bothered me much at all, especially when gaming)

I have the 45" 2024 model and the coating is honestly nice. I also have the 34 Alienware dwf qd-oled and that coating was f'ing trash. I say was because I removed it completely. It came scratched for one thing then it kept bothering me and just breathing on it would scratch it so I had enough and removed it and it's honestly just like glass now and colors pooped way better than what was on it before. But the lg ar film "they did change in the lg 2024 models I read up" is honestly awesome. It shows no reflections and colors pop like crazy still. Plus the lg is way brighter than the dwf in sdr and hdr mode so if this ar film was causing any brightness reduction I could care less. This monitor blinds me in some scenes. My dwf has never once made me close my eyes due to the brightness. Lg made me a fan of there products again. Because after the pos 34gn850 I was f'ing done with lg and went with Alienware.

@@smcremix8791 I’m contemplating returning my 34” one in exchange for the 39” one. How is the text on yours? I find that the text is slightly difficult to read on the 34” screen. This is coming from a background of just 1080p 27” screens.

Any OLED LG 240hz I currently have the 27’ one just placed a order on the newer one that dropped. Curve 34’ I’m excited to see since it’s a newer model and display plus my first curve ! Totally recommend you’ll see other monitors or tvs differently! Promise you! God bless

I would say no, I have both. The gloss makes a huge difference. The matte is fuzzy in full screen colors. I have more text issues with lg as well

its because its a dark room, problem with oled displays is brightness not being great in sdr content, sure in hdr it will hit 1000 but thats too bright for standard sdr use

In terms of overall quality they are both very similar - as expected. But considering this is 11 inches smaller with the same resolution there is a noticeably higher pixel density and therefore sharper image on the 34" - having said that, the immersion benefit from the 45" is something special!

Yes for sure, you'd get the most out of the 240hz that way, although with a 4090 you could definitely consider 4k monitors as well

Great question. If it's purely for gaming then this is a fantastic monitor but if you're doing a lot of browsing / work then I'm sure you'll really appreciate the 4k. Personally it doesn't bother me at all but I've had a few comments saying they don't like 1440p at this size.

@@ScorpioTech Definitely just using it primarily for gaming. But at this price point I think it should be 4k. Theres 4k oleds cheaper than this. But that ultrawide format with the curve looks so immersive and fun.

Consoles don't support ultrawide so you'll either get black bars in the side or a stretched image.

I'm still using the 45" as my main monitor, I love the size, screen space and immersion, although the 34" is really nice too. I had two options for this review and took the 34" to test out, so unfortunately it's unlikely I'll also get to try the 39". But the only difference would be the screen size, the features are the same. The most noticeable difference would be the PPI on the 39" being worse @ 1440p and maybe making text less clear, but both fantastic monitors regardless.

I have the 39 in one... its the sweet spot... I returned the last year 45in for it... the 39 looks way better

LG just (temporarily?) dropped the price of this and the 39" one by $200 each. Probably because of what you mentioned, it is still in stock and likely not selling well versus cheaper competition products.

I don’t see why anyone would get this over the aw3423dwf. It’s usually cheaper.

It’s $899 at Best Buy right now, $799 if you have their membership, and there is going to be a Drops alert for the monitor on the Best Buy app on 5/31, so it might even be cheaper. Also, this monitor does support HDMI 2.1, not HDMI 2.0 as your specified.
