The brand that saved us from smelling like cheap shower gel, uneventful fabric softeners, blue windex and the airport Duty Free section, thank you Frederic Malle! ❤️️

The masters of scents! If you love perfumes, this video will open your mind re the creative process and all the other elements that must come into synch before perfumes hit the shelves. I own and use Frédéric Malle perfumes and I find it enlightening and enchanting to listen to their creators ... and to understand how the personalities of these creators affect their perfumes!

I have so much respect for Malle and all the perfumers he’s worked with. His concept of Editions de Parfums are inspiring; we need to just truly be our best selves

I’m not surprised that avant garde artists were rejected by the Academy in 1863 (any establishment resists and needs time to process change). However, the fact that even established artists are refusés today (41:15) gives me pause. Thank you for making these beautiful fragrances possible. 💗

52:38 Amazing that Pierre already saw it in the 70s! 1:12:27 😁 The final frontier. Nailed the importance of Angel as a milestone in ushering in the age of sweet perfumery. And Maurice is correct that the clientele or target consumer has changed over the years as well as the importance of a perfume's introduction. There's also the consideration of the true source(s) of their preferences - are they conditioned or predisposed to choosing one scent over another because of their upbringing or environment? Or is it internally driven? Love the bottle design myself. Functional and ergonomic. The pinnacle of perfection imo. Really appreciate the historical context. I would've loved to have heard more from Anne!

Very interesting and passionnating interview. Something they haven't really touched on, but that shines through is the humility and the ability to take hits. When Pierre Bourdon said that the last daring mainstream fragrance was Angel, that was a huge omission of the existence of La Vie Est Belle... Created by Dominique Ropion and Anne Flipo here in the room. But they took the hit remarkably well.
@minashypnosis2 жыл бұрын
It’s not necessarily a hit when you are aware of the context/brand/crowd La Vie Est Belle was made for. Personally, I can’t stand the fragrance, but I don’t blame it on the perfumer - I know what limitations are involved when you create for a brand like Estée Lauder nowadays

Tout à fait d'accord avec tout ce qui se dites Chapeau messieurs dames . Malheureusement bien se parfumé et devenu un luxe . Les parfums de niche sont cher Malheureusement dans les 200€ minimum les 100ml
Thoroughly enjoyed the insights about the process and the creators behind the fragrances. True artists and big fan!

Amazing to actually have perfumers in the spotlight like this! I don´t speak french, but the subtitles seems to leave a LOT out though?
@danilibo70053 жыл бұрын
yes I noticed that too - mainly in the awkward moments when they were talking on top of each other so I think they tried to smooth it out for English speakers both linguistically and culturally

@ambergris57053 жыл бұрын
No, he's actually talking about a fragrance project, where the idea was to have the smell of the Nivea cream as a perfume. I don't think it went as planned though ! By the way, I hope you speak French, because the subtitles were rubbish on many occasions... There was one or two time where it said about the opposite to what was actually expressed by the artists here.
