Personal prediction is that when Chrollo finds her killer, which he likely knows the identity now, and it's likely on the Black Whale, he's going to quote it to the guy verbatim. And when the guy doesn't remember, Chrollo is going to re-enact Sarasa's death on the killer, but more slowly

Personally, I think Chrollo not only wants revenge over the criminal group who committed the crime but also on everyone else. He doesn't just hate the criminals, he hates the whole picture, so he became the leader of the Phantom Troupe.

The world made them into monsters: And the monsters would give back twofold what they were dealt

Also explains why they are pissed as fuck at the Chimera Ants on Meteor City. Those guys are spitting the reason why they became evil.

Nothing can make me feel any type of pity for the phantom troupe after seeing what they did to Kurapika’s village. They deserve what they get and I can’t wait to see how him and Hisoka destroy them

I wanna highlight the fact that this event is what made Uvogin the way he is. Sarasa saw through his heart and his true feelings, which he hid beneath a thick shell. Her death destroyed him and made him very protective over his comrades, especially the younger and weaker ones. That’s why he fights better when he has someone to protect and that’s why he chose death over betraying the Troupe. In other words, he became the Troupe’s big brother.

Bro this is INSANELY good storytelling. Basically, Chrollo had a very similar backstory to Kurapika where he begins his path with vengeance and loses himself on the way, very similar to Kurapika and Gon with kite. The phantom troupe (as a result of chrollo’s rage) marked the beginning of Kurapika,s path of vengeance, starting a chain reaction. If that wasn’t enough, Kurapika’s nen ability is LITERALLY using chains, and his nen master predicted that he would be the one eventually chained down.

This anime/manga legit has the potential to be one of the best. Like the world building and side characters are wayyyyy too good. You can branch off from Gon and Killua and it would still be peak asf

And the Phantom Troupe became their own worst enemy. Make me wonder whether they had learned/realized something when Kurapika swore revenge and killed one of them...

No matter how tragic their backstory will get it still won't matter, there is simply no excuse to slaughter and torture an entire village young, old, men,women,kids just for their eyes.

Remember that several of the members of the troupe have changed, as it was brought into question if karapika should be taking revenge on members of the spiders who had nothing to do with the clan massacre, and several of them didn’t even know what that was

Random comparison Kurapika : Had a happy, peaceful life before he lost his clan when he was around 15 years old. Their eyes were plucked out, and they were killed in front of his eyes. Chrollo : Was born in a cruel environment, a dump place, then loses his childhood friend, Sarasa. (befriended Sarasa b4 the others) Went missing, then finds her severed head along with her severed body parts. Also finds a note that we don't know what was written that made him horrified and traumatised. Kurapika basically gets a sudden hit of trauma and rage, while Chrollo already had been experiencing the cruel environment of Meteor City, and Sarasa's death fueled his rage and trauma even further.

As what we've seen in the entire series, chrollo is a very smart person and also a person capable enough to handle his own affairs against big shots. For a person that smart to have this kind of backstory ain't good enough reason to become a serial killer/mass murderer. He's good enough to lead troupes ever since young age and that backstory doesn't seemed convincing enough. They're just purely psycopaths. Tsk tsk

We all knew that the phantom troupe had to have had a tragic backstory given where theyre from and the fact that the mafia recruits a lot of their members from meteor city. The part that really sold the backstory and their trauma though was when they all went into a forested area and found the sack dangling seemingly in the very middle of the trees. Then kid chrollo opens the bag or sack to find that the mafia or maybe even the princes goons had bent sarasa in half to be able to fit into the sack. Backwards. You dont even see her face. You couldnt have. The note they left for them to find of what they did to her was left stuck onto her face.

Literally read this yesterday it was so sad yet so good at the same time

To people asking for the HxH to come back. From my experience you need around 20-30 years for every surge of new HxH. I experienced this waiting for more than a dozen years to the next story of HxH. I learned my lesson not to wait anymore, just be happy that the end of HxH for me is the Chimera Any Arc!

I dropped HxH in part also, because the series just loved to give villains who commit the most gruesome war crimes known to man with sad backstories. In real life, most monsters of history didn't have it much better or worse than their peers. Either being mentally ill, stupid or evil out of personal ambition. It's more understandable if the villains turned to choose evil, because of childhood abuse or betrayal. But to choose evil over a single traumatic memory isn't making me feel sympathy for the character's downward spiral, when everything else in their lives was still alright. It's a similar reaction to Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb having the most tragic backstory known to man, being a great dad and more of a 'gag villain'. Compared to Doofenshmirtz from the parallel dimension, who chose to rule the world with an iron fist, just because his toy train broke after he used it. (Parallel Doofenshmirtz had a spoiled and rich childhood.)

Never really understood how someone could go through horrific physical or mental pain and want to inflict it on others. It just seems antithetical to their current selves

The thing is, some of the members might have close ties, but they welcome new members haphazardly. Chrollo doesn't care if he dies, because all the members are super loyal to whatever cause they have, but randoms like Hisoka? Why would they care? And any of the new members now?

You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain.
