Porkers look good, will be interested to know costings if you feel you can share them later, as in how much they cost in food/bedding/slaughterhouse vs what you had made out of them and what a reasonable prcide would be for those items.

I'll work that out at the end

Noticed that pigs are not castrated. It could effect the taste once cooked.

Same questions to each. Tom Pemberton, Ollie, Crawford and any other farming bloggers. One for a wet day. Farm office stuff. Tell us about how invoices get processed, which farm accounts software do you use? What reports do you use / rely on to run and manage your business. Payroll? How do the office staff know what is happening on the farm, charging others? Enterprise’s and cost centres

Pigs are highly intelligent animals and they can be trained with little bit of perseverance and food and they're very food orientated with right conditioned you can train any animal and pigs are more easier than most there have been studies on it

Have you worked out total cost. Price for pigs, food and slaughtering compared to buying the same volume of meat. Curious to the difference in cost...

Pigs have a mind (all-be-it a stupid one) to go wherever they want, not where you want. And which working farmer has time to start training pigs?

I've have boars before and it wasn't a problem. I also checked with rhe butcher this week about this and he said they will be fine. It's a matter of killing them before they get too big
@colin324611 ай бұрын
Richard, I'm sorry I'm a townie and don't fully understand nature, but as I understand it if the pigs are "intact" when they go to the butcher the testosterone will spoil the meat 🥓. Keep up the good work with the videos and keep yourself and the family safe.

As Richard says, so long as they are not too big / aged keeping them entitre is not an issue

Jack isn't shown much interest today, and a blunt knife isn't helping either... getting embarrassing now
