My issue is trusting the world - my bike career stolen due to cheats, a trainer told me I was hopeless little shit, and couldn’t fit in, so I decided to stay away from people/groups so not to get hurt - now 50 and must break this. Face it and let it go. I make friends very easily but I’ve shut them off…with your teachings I’m beginning finally to simply let it go and “be me” and connect again and pursue my real calling in life…🙏

You have to allow yourself to feel your negative energy and think accurately about it. that's pretty much all "letting go" is. The more you allow yourself to sit in painful emotions the stronger you get

This is the lesson i learned lately. Before that, everytime I felt bad I tried to force myself out of feeling bad instead of just accepting that I am feeling bad now and that this is just the mood I have right now. The result of trying to force my way out of grief and just continue with life was a disaster. I made impulsive decisions (which now haunt me in the form of debt), I doorslammed a lot of people and burned myself out in the process. That's because all my decisions came from a state of grief. Instead of trying to look for solutions to the phases you feel bad I should've asked myself "How do I survive these phases? How do minimize the damage from them?" Because they are gonna happen either way. none of us is made to feel good constantly.

Im sorry that’s wrong. Haha. The book Letting Go that Julian references is simple and yet beautifully complex and the simple process Dr Hawkins offers is decoupling emotion from thought. So sitting with the emotion and letting the thousands of thoughts one emotion causes arise and NOT paying attention to any thought, simply letting them happen, like swimming through them. You do this when the same emotion arises enough times that it cures it to let go of you and you of it, sometimes it doesn’t, there’s a whole section in the back of the back of the book where there’s warnings of times this technique does not and cannot work. It seems to mostly work so why not try it.

*9 things to quit for all Strong Minded People:* 1. Caring about what others think 2. Not believing in yourself 3. Not experimenting different ideas / solutions for problems (life&business) 4. Not prioritizing your health 5. Wasting your precious time 6. Chasing meaningless relationships 7. Wasting or draining your energy from beating your meat 8. Wasting time by scrolling social media 9. Nailbiting/nailpicking habit for good (if you do it - consider stopping it as it makes you mentally weak + affects your confidence and all other areas of your life!) Take it easy and I hope you found one thing helpful in this list.

I've spent my whole life stuck inside my own head, since the age of like... 14 I was reading the likes of Nietzsche non stop, and thinking. I've always loved my mind; loved being alone with myself, so In a sense I'm already halfway there, because I'm already comfortable with myself at my core, I love to experience my consciousness, as it drifts through my mind: wind to the soul, nothing more. I've cultivated a rich inner world, which I love, but now I'm ready to project this inner confidence externally. I'm awesome, I want to run with it, rather than quietly marinating in it.

5:10 providing value to people while interacting would lead to you not being pulled into different directions, by other people, and generating your own reality/ being grounded in it. 5:30 be your own hero, role model. Be your own idol. Don't ask for answers in life, take responsibility. 6:00 but don't be stuck up. 11:48 let go of the scarcity paradigm , that people are scary, the world is scary, etc.

I've been learning about improv and comedy, I feel like I don't bring enough to a conversation. I'm good at starting it and keeping it going but I don't talk about myself, the things I'm interested in are self help, psychology philosophy, stocks, fixing things, music, the people I'm around can't relate to me and I fear I seem pretentious if I talk about this stuff, so we end up talking about them or their interests. I noticed a while ago that 'banter' seems to be the universal language. People with nothing in common can vibe through it. So how do I get some banter and put good vibes out there, comedy and improv I think. The question I have is, is this inauthentic? To add to my skillset? Or is it ingratiating myself to others, is ingratiating myself to others even a bad thing in a collaborative society? Help!
@Synox89
@Synox89 2 жыл бұрын
I would say that is is not a bad thing to get along with strangers and new acquaintances through banter. But if it is your only source of interaction with others, you will start to feel like something is missing. The topics that interest you are not particularly exotic and there are plenty of people out there that love talking about them as well (myself included), so maybe you should try to get yourself exposed more to new people until you find "your tribe"?
@gareth7762
@gareth7762 2 жыл бұрын
@@Synox89 something missing, like a deeper connection, it'd be superficial otherwise right? You're probably right and if I did master banter I'd probably desire more, that's the human condition. To some they may not be very exotic subjects but the people I find myself around, seem to gravitate towards drinking, different sports, bets and gossip. They have no interest in these subjects is my point. These things just don't tickle my brain and I can only be enthusiastic for so long. One guy comes to mind, he likes thrifting and going to charity shops to pick up bargains. He makes it sound funny as he gets very enthusiastic about it, he was telling me today he picked up 2nd hand shoes for £3, they looked terrible but he came back at me with "it's alright I put new insoles in them", made me chuckle. I think comedy adds value and is a good trade off for common interests. He's the pratfall effect in action. A load of rambling there, what are you interested in, you intrigued me when you said you had some similar interests.
@Synox89
@Synox89 2 жыл бұрын
@@gareth7762 Yeah, try getting out there to find people who "click" more on these subjects. I am far from calling myself skilled in repairing stuff but it often struck me that I get a feeling of satisfaction whenever I manage to repair something and extend its life even just bit more - like my 13 yo bike or repairing my phone instead of buying a new one. Also, music is a topic a lot of people like talking about. I play the piano and have developed some good understanding of harmonies. I just wish I felt music more but thats a different story. So yeah, dont feel discouraged if you feel like your social circle doesnt match your interests.

Rule #1 in life You're 100% responsible for your experience of life. Wether good or bad, it's on you. Wether you get upset or not is on you. Wether you resist these compulsive reactions that you're so enslaved by or not is a choice. Wether you accept life or resent it is your choice. You cannot not make a choice. Because that's still you having made the choice to not make a choice. So choose wisely, because it's always 100% on you.

Julien I loved this video, but I don't understand. Listening to this, I remembered your older video about confidence, which - if I'm not mistaken - is related to identity. How could one have the same confidence when they are on the rock bottom, so they don't have any authority? It feels like one should "fake it 'til make it".
@danethenice
@danethenice 2 жыл бұрын
No matter where you are in life, if you're consistently working on your purpose you'll feel more and more confident over time. It comes from experience, knowing who you are (identity), dealing with hardships and valuing the right things (internal vs external things). You can't really fake confidence. You can fake appearing confident, even to yourself, but it won't last. It's not based on reality and deep down you'll always know this, even if you're not really aware of it. Think of it like this: why would someone try to appear to seem more confident than they genuinely feel? Because they don't feel confident being authentic and vulnerable. They believe they have to appear stronger than they feel. The more they try to fake it the more they tell themselves their authentic self is not good enough.
