Part of the most amazing one-hit wonder grand slam ever. This lead vocalist (Tony Burrows) sang lead on four separate one-hit wonders: this song, Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes (Edison Lighthouse); My Baby Loves Lovin’ (White Plains); and Beach Baby (First Class). I think it’s safe to say this record will never be broken.

I didn't know that Tony Burrows sang this. Met him several years ago at a musical. Very nice person.

One of the catchiest novelty records circa 1970. I wondered what the different dances were called that appear in the excellent video.

AMAZING How people Could - and Still CAN - Dance! The brunette lass in green was Great too - and adorable, and is, obviously, having a lot of fun - and certainly knows how to Move (which translates, along with her fun spirit and free style, into other rooms in the house, for a joyful Time for & with a partner). SIDE NOTE - and very possibly picked up on & recognized by you, and others here - An instrumental version arranged by Ronnie Aldrich was frequently used as background music during comedy sketches in “The Benny Hill Show”(appropriately and fitting, in light of the observation & comment above regarding the cute, happy, fun-loving, dancing lass).

I was in the 6th grade, it was 69 or 70 Summertime,had a secret crush on Nancy it's still a secret, plan on telling her someday, I liked her so much she scared me, silly I wore this record out, when my dad heard it he called it swingtime in the 20's or something like that, the big dance was the Charleston, and that thing people do trying to make their knees cross, ala Chevy Chase
@ruthwalker16024 жыл бұрын

Summertime 1970! I was 10 years old, went to 4-H Camp at Holliday Lake in Appomattox County, VA. Some of the Junior Leaders (who were teenagers) were nearly always playing récords in the big pavilion. This song was played many times during that week

The scene with the gut in the striped jacket and the girl in the pleated skirt is from the movie BLONDIE MEETS THE BOSS. The entire scene is from that movie. Arthur Lake and the actress who Played Blondie's younger sister are not shown. They were in the scene just not shown. It is a dance contest. Just saw the movie few weeks ago on MOVIES TV CHANNEL.

She was part of a competitive dance club, mostly Swing and Jazz in NYC. She had her own site with various vids posted, but that was way back in 2009. Her site is gone now and I think the last short post was at a picnic in 2011.
