Dive deep into the world of p-values and their significance in scientific research with our comprehensive breakdown. We kick things off by drawing parallels between detectives solving complex cases and scientists, helping you visualize the critical role of p-values in determining the likelihood of research findings being mere coincidences.Though not everything is as straightforward! We dive into the realm of "p-hacking," a form of bias that poses serious threats to the reliability of scientific results. We implemented a detective scenario and real-world examples, to unravel how this controversial practice might twist the 'truth detectors' to fit particular narratives. We also highlight the broader implications of p-hacking, detecting p-hacking, emphasizing the criticality of replication in research, and how researchers need further ethics training in scientific research.
