He was only in a different role because of the injury situation to the safety and Austin is the one who makes those types of decisions for the defense. The idea is to win period.

Injuries was the main reason Minkah had to play in the box not because of Austin or Tomlin wanting to try something new with Minkah. There's a reason Steelers signed Patrick Queen and DeShon Eliot for this upcoming season to make it easier in getting back to Minkah ball.
