I took your advice and first watched your reading of the poem. You did an excellent job with that. Now listening to the music and appreciated the highlighted sheet music. Celebrating an ecstatic Scriabmas .Your uncle Jay

Wow I learn so much with your videos! Will there be any Prometheus video soon?
@jaybeardmusic80743 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear that! One day I hope to make a video for Prometheus! That piece has the most complex use of motifs out all all of Scriabin's music!

Just to clarify: You are categorizing this as sonata form, but arguably a heavily modified one, no? It appears Scriabin is certainly introducing far more than two themes in the "exposition" as you show here. Or is it sort of like two main sub groups with themes branching down under them in the exposition? Thank you for your analysis!!!

Yes, definitely a modified sonata form. The way the recap goes back and forth between theme 1 and 2 makes it especially uncommon for a sonata. “Themes” are kinda like you described at the end as a collection of motifs. It’s very common for Scriabin to introduce several motifs in theme 1 and one or two motifs in theme 2. The longer the piece, the more motifs he adds roughly speaking. I explain some of this in my video “Scriabin’s Sonata Form”. Good question, cheers!

@@jaybeardmusic8074 Awesome man your content is Literally .0001% of KZfaq and you deserve way more subs. You think you might ever tackle Mysterium? I know it only has one recording from 1991 with Vladimir Ashkkenazy, and techincally its only the prelude (or preface rather) but HOLY HELL its like all of Scriabin's innovations really come together in it. Also man do you like Obukhov? The Book of Life is feel is very much an extension and next step of Scriabin's composing techniques. Thanks again for all your awesome work!
