When will the *blood begin to race?* The *sleeping bud* burst into bloom? When will the *flames at last consume us?* You don't have to be that slow to not to understand the metaphor. Refer to the song Beneath a Moonless Sky from the sequel of POTO, Erik is reminiscing the love he and Christine made, which either alludes to Music of the Night (which Webber himself describes as a song about seduction and passion) or this song.
