Sadly, Churchill had little option when the War ended. Whilst we still had an effective Army, Navy and Airforce, the UK was on it's knees in all other respects and at Yalta was outmaneuvered by Roosevelt as well as Stalin. However I do agree that denying the Poles their rightful place in the Victory Parade was a shameful act of appeasement to Stalin.

It is honestly surprising to me as polish living in uk for so long that majority of people don’t know anything about Squadron 303 and other important events from ww2 where Poland was involved like cracking enigma code, Warsaw uprising or how much Poland sacrificed and lost in the past for greater good, that our country was „reset” and it took years to recover from both invaders and catch up with others on many grounds. Poland was a battlefield. And if anyone is interested they can look online for numbers showing the difference and also how polish people were treated afterwards ( not saying people in general but there were some important incidents caused by individuals). And i am not saying this to take any credit as i was not there nor other poles living now and also not saying we are the only one who fought, but i am just annoyed sometimes when we polish people not only in UK but in other countries too are pictured as drunk uneducated kurwa swearing people just because they have seen some individuals. Other countries also have people like that and it doesn’t mean everyone is the same.

Another one bashing the brits, The Polish pilots have a place in our hearts and we are all proud that they flew with the RAF. Ask any brit who knows the story and they will tell you that. Also they didnt all get treated badly at all. As the video even said, a lot of them choose to stay in britain and become flight instructors and stay with the RAF. They were honered by the Brits. When the soviets took control of Poland after the war, what did you expect Britain to do, Invade Russia. There was nothing we could do. We were a country that had lost its empire and were broke. So not being able to do anything is not the same choosing not to do anything. Britain went to war in the first place because Germany invaded Poland. Also the brits was the ones that gave the poles the oppertunity to fight in the war. Yes Britain got great warriors out of it but they also gave the polish the chance to fight as well, it was win, win all round in that respect. Brits love the poles and we have memorials in our country that we pay tribute to for their bravery and sacrifice. Also a lot of forces personel who left the service after the war from all over the world including Brits started working in civilian jobs which were working class and had working clas roles including my grandfather. Their is nothing wrong with being working class and earning a living. We have a lot of polish working class people today in the uk who are builders and tradesman, its a good decent and honest living. So stop bashing us Brits like we are prejudice or something and shut your face.

Lets reverse the situation. Do you think that Poles would go and fight for liberation of some country on the other side of the world? Why they should do that? In the same sense, why do you think Americans or Brits should fight for liberation of Poland from the Soviets after the war? How would general command rationalize this to the people of USA, or British command rationalize this suicidal role? Going after Russia was impossible in that time. You need to have the laverage to force someone to do something, and the Russian army was massive. The war was over. There was no more killing. There was occupation, thats right. And that was a shame. But I dont think you can expect some other people on the other side of the world to fight for your freedom, as you would not expect Poles to go and fight for Indians in the USA, or for some African or South American country. The problem is not that your average Joe from a Polish village was working class in the UK after the war but what happened to many of the higher officers, cryptologists, engineers. Sosabowski who was one of the pioneers of paratroop forces in Europe and a lot of his experience was used to train your paratroopers ended up as warehouse worker moving boxes from one place to another. Maczek had to become a barman. Cryptologists, intelligence officers who worked for the British throughout the war (and were responsible for supplying British with intelligence on the Germans, btw 3/4 of all intelligence reports from the continent came from Polish source) were given training for equally crappy jobs in the Polish resettlement corps. You get it? People who could be mathematics professors instead got to move boxes or pour drinks at your local pub. Good that you reasured me there is nothing wrong with that....

Haha you are just as touchy about that as most of the Czechs are. We were on the eastern side of the iron curtain, so - politically - Poland and Czechoslovakia were in the Eastern Europe while Finland and Austria were in the Western Europe.

I tend to think the opposite to be honest. The Poles did a great job but they get far more coverage than other non British participants.

There was a French squadron based at RAF Elvington, near York.

They didn't fight much even for themselves, tbh.

A lot of the French air force sacrificed themselves trying to stop the Germans in May 1940, & in protecting the BEF as best they could in a dire situation. They deserve respect, and NOT scant regard.

I can't remember ever seeing East Europeans involved in Remembrance Sunday. Though representatives of India, Canada, Nigeria etc should have been there too. I can't remember seeing them there either.

If i remember correctly there was a battle between a group of French tanks and wehrmacht soldiers with anti tank guns (wich weren't that effective against the french tanks that were deployed during that battle). The French tanks were afraid to push forward because of fear for german Panzers, despite none actually being present. They essentially were like: "we have to attack them!" "But what if they fight back?" (As said by, if i remember correctly, Oversimplified)

From the ridiculous claims for Stukas on 16th and 18th August 1940 by Fighter Command squadrons, to the claims of having shot down 51 RAF aircraft in a single day by the Luftwaffe unit Zerstörergeschwader 26. All units overclaimed - that's fact of life in aerial combats such as took place in the summer of 1940 when large formations of defending fighters took on large formations of attacking Luftwaffe bombers and fighters. With over 40 years of research and writing about that period, I would suggest I know more about the Battle of Britain than you will ever know, so I suggest you get hold of modern works on the subject and improve your knowledge considerably. Try 'The Battle of Britain Combat Archive' by Simon Parry, published by Red Kite Publications, for starters, a series that I am a main contributor to. Get Stephen Bungay's 'The most dangerous enemy' also, which is an excellent work on the Battle. Then come back when you know what you are talking about, OK? The nerve of some people...

I was born in 49 when the second WW was over, but for years I heard stories from my father about Polish airmen and aircrew, as my father used to repair, maintain and test fly aircraft. He had the utmost respect for the brave Poles and maintained lifelong friendships with two of them. There is some bitter 'Brit bashing' going on with some of the comments, which seems to be 'par for the course' - where is the bond of loyalty between old comrades? Have the Woke W⚓s infiltrated even the bands of brothers who should have each others' backs after fighting side by side in the same battles? We civilians can never fully thank the brave soldiers, sailors and airmen who fought for us, these men and women gave everything, their future, their lives. The Control column operated the same way, ie pull back to climb. But The engine throttle worked opposite to a British aircraft, push forward for more power , intuitive and standard now. I think the rudder on early Soviet aircraft worked in the opposite sense to now.
