a bit of a departure from Pomu clips, but this video ended up being over 5 minutes long so I couldn't fit it all on Twitter lol
Around one week after Pomu graduated, Maple posted an innocent Twitter poll asking if you prefer crispy or soggy fries, and the ensuing debate had the Pomu fan server in chaos for hours, while also spreading further on Twitter and even into some VTubers' streams. I always wanted to document it in an Ace Attorney meme format, so I'm finally getting around to it.
The argument spans a LOT more messages than what's in the video, but I trimmed it down to have better pacing. Pomucord itself is closed, but this was definitely an appropriate send-off.

They let Pomucord sit too long, it's not soggy anymore, just stale. (Not that I necessarily prefer soggy fries.) ...I wonder if anyone prefers stale fries, like after they're dry. Maybe we can unite behind hating on those people, and bring us all back together. Well, if the server were still open, anyway.

I will never not find it funny that Pomu will be catching strays from her own Pomucord. Also, I like me a fry that's crisp on the outside, but chewy and soft on the inside. It's like the prophet Hannah Montana always said.

Ask McDonalds, they have a way of somehow having a couple of fries in a batch come out soaked in oil rather than properly fried so they come out soggy rather than crispy. My guess is that they cook with oil at a lower temperature or something where a percentage of the frozen fries in a batch don't get enough heat to get properly deep fried. They do taste good when they do happen to come out that way though ngl.

Yep, for fried food to be crispy it has to be cooked with the oil within a specific temperature. Too hot or too cold and the equilibrium is broken and you get a soggy mess Doesn't usually happen with fries unless you deliberately set the oil to the wrong temperature since fries being dumped into oil shouldn't crash the temperature much

I don't think they get soggy "right out of the fryer" I think fries in the center of a batch will get steamed since in the center the escaping steam doesn't have anywhere to go. if you look at the soggy fries they're usually still crispy on the ends but soggy in the middle. these are my favorite fries to get when I get fries lol.

Nani truly is the villain for having the correct opinion imo the more salty flavor the better. the best way for a fry to catch salt is to have more surface area. Hence, waffle fries, crinkle cut fries, etc., can have much more flavor with just salt when fresh, which means you get crispy, hot, and salty all at once. Regular fries have less surface area and therefore less salt, so fries like McDonalds fries suffer from not being salty enough fresh. It's not that soggy fries are good as a whole, it's that McDonald's straight fries are so bad that making them soggy is the only way to improve their ability to hold salt.

Soggy fries straight out of the fryer are indeed the best. Some of you have never had 48-hour fries and it shows smh Crispy fries that are crispy because of being coated in a flavored starch dusting are the *absolute* best though

I used to work in a fry shop so i totally see where both sides are coming from With good enough fries (like the ones i made 😎), it can honestly just be chocked up to a texture preference, as the flavour doesnt change much between the two. Fresh hot crispy nacho fries are AWESOME, and the hot salty fries contrasting the cool salsa and sour cream goes nuts. Soggy fresh nacho fries go equally hard after all the sauce and salt meshes together into a lovely combination. Some fries are just better soggy and taste bad fresh (mcdonalds) and some the other way. But microwaving fries is still unholy and if you do that you truly have no taste. Toaster oven at the very least. Or if you have the time, throw them in oil to fry and theyll literally be as good as new and you can crisp or sog them up as you please
