@David, i would never buy this spyder. I rather the 2020 718 GTS 4.0 flat 6. it has got an electric roof. And among all i would buy a 2020 C8 corvette convertible. it is way cooler than the boxster. and more capable when you consider the difference in tires.

@@lensoprezole5322 I would never buy a North American is my reply to you Lense. My current GT4 is a beautiful car which is still worth what I paid for it. I doubt I could say that for any NA car after 4 years of ownership.

What’s funny is that so many people had such a cow about the 2.5T and it’s sound and here comes an NA engine and it’s still sounding bad. *shrug*

Blame European regulations for neutering the sound. An aftermarket exhaust can fix it though.

Jcr has an 'OPF delete' aftermarket exhaust in the works for the GT4 and Spyder. Will be interesting to compare that to stock and see just how badly the OPF affected the exhaust note.

So I guess you don’t want the Speedster - the GT3 with it a roof - which is at least 3 times the price - it has the same roof. Those cars are sold out so I guess real sports cars enthusiasts don’t mind the roof. The roof goes with car - an engagingly analog sports car and the roof makes it all the more different and special. It’s a brilliant car that no other manufacturer is making. The GT Front end end, the humps at the rear , the seats, just put it on another level from 4.0 Boxster. This car is a GT4 without the roof. Thank you Porsche.

@@gtsspeed2619 Your definition of "real sports cars enthousiasts" is absurd. People who love to drive without the roof can't be real sports cars enthousiasts ? The Carrera GT and 918 spyder have removable roofs. So all you say is absurd. The bucket seats you have seen in the video are optional for the GT4 and spyder, they cost 5400 extra euros. They are not exclusive to the GT4 and spyder. You can have them on the 718 "T" and GTS 4.0 too. GT4 is not better than the GTS or the "T". The GT4 has tons of grip, it is a better car than the other variants only for those who go on the race track. For those who only drive on the road, the 718 T is already more than enough to lose your driving licence and go to court. I think you never drove a performance car to don't know that. You're a novice dreamer or a kid dreamer.

Lenso Prezole Pity you took my remarks as being adversarial. However in your response you provide 2 examples of super cars when we are speaking about sports car - conflating 2 different things. But I’ll answer your question since you ignored mine about the speedster and it’s roof that is the same as the Spyder. People who drive sports cars with roofs are real enthusiasts but don’t complain because they have to get out to put up or put on a roof. I do wonder if any 918 owners or CGT owners you mentioned complain about having to get out and take off or put on the targa top? I have yet to hear them complain. Also I’m not surprised that you want to the ad hominem attacks about what I drive or where I have driven simply based on innuendo, suppositions and assumptive conclusions - I have owned many sports cars both convertibles and coupes and miss both my 360 Ferrari Spyder gated manual and my Porsche 981Cayman GTS the most. I have also done track days and will be enjoying another one next weekend with Porsche at their ice experience at a track. I won’t make any personal attacks because that only is used by those that have lost the argument. And won’t give it a second thought while driving my Gentian Blue GT4, er, 718 Spyder through the beautiful European roads in May - and I might even have to get out and put up that beautiful roof. - damn it. I am happy that Porsche is the only manufacturer building cars with the following : NASP Mid Engine true Manual gear box and convertible . I am hard pressed to think of another manufacturer that is currently producing cars that tick all these boxes. Enjoy your 4.0 GTS - it will be a great car - subjectively I prefer the looks of the Spyder - happy motoring.

Part of my retort to your claim was - “so I guess you don’t want the speedster.” I defended the the mechanical roof of both the Spyder and Speedster. And I made a claim that is part of the uniqueness of the Spyder. You raised the CGT and 918 Spyder as part of your argument in your response. I state they have targa roofs. I contend that in both those cars you have to get out to put on or take off the roof, so in terms of roof removal it is analogous to both Spyder and Speedster. You state if you “drive through a work area and the air is full of dust”, your car is covered in dust. So therefore you have to get out of car to put on the roof as opposed “slow down and press a button”. However, your point about having to get out because there is no button is the same if you are driving the CGT or 918 Spyder. You would have to get out of those cars as well in the scenario you illustrated. Yes sometimes there is a price to pay or sacrifices to make for driving a great car - like the speedster, Spyder, 918, CGT and others - no electric roof being one of them. But you don’t deal with those arguments, but instead move off your claim from the roof to a straw man argument, changing the argument and narrative and go onto to other incoherent ramblings full of ad hominem attacks on someone you know nothing about because they offer an opposing view of the roof. I like the roof for the reasons I stated, not to mention it lessens the weight and minimizes repair costs. I am willing to forgo the electric roof so I can have the streamliners and thus keep the styling of the Spyder in tact - maintaining its super car looks. While others prefer the convenience of the power roof, in exchange for a flat back. There is only a right answer for the buyer and owner of the car. I believe the positives on Spyder outweighs those of the 4.0 - my claim. Thank you to Dan Prosser at Cargurus whose review was well thought out, thorough, logical, adult and mature. If only some of those who watched and are commenting on here could match it. Based on your responses, regardless of what I write, it is evident that you aren’t going to be able to focus on, nor deal with the argument that is being asserted, nor respond without another ad hominem attack.

So true but do you know what ? With a ND MX-5 and any other sports cars you can only use second and third gears on the road otherwise you would be thrown to jail if you begin to wide open the throttle in 4th gear.

Only an issue if you plan to red line engine all the time.

I think they have already confirmed that they will put the PDK as option later in 2020, probably around spring/summer.

Same thing happened to me. A dealership I bought a 911 from told me "good luck" but I did find an excellent dealership 1800 miles away that made it happen for me so don't give up if you really want one.
