Medical marijuana isn’t devil weed or the cure for everything. Find out what it really is, and what it can really do. Dr.Alan Shackelford shows us. FB: Amarimed of Colorado / Twitter: @DrAShackelford Dr. Alan Shackelford is a graduate of the University of Heidelberg School of Medicine in Germany and completed postgraduate medical training at major teaching hospitals of the Harvard Medical School, including a residency in internal medicine and Fellowships in nutritional and behavioral medicine as well as a Harvard Medical School research Fellowship. Since 2009, Dr. Shackelford has consulted with patients for whom the medical use of cannabis has been of great benefit in the treatment of serious medical problems, many of which were unresponsive to traditional prescription medications. He has also advised legislators in a number of states and several other countries on the medical uses of cannabis and has testified before state senate and house committees in Colorado, Connecticut and Pennsylvania during their deliberations on medical cannabis legislation. Dr. Shackelford is vitally interested in the scientific investigation of cannabis and its potential medical uses in both humans and in animals and in developing pharmaceutical appropriate products based on those studies. Anecdotal
@AECommonThread2137
@AECommonThread2137 8 ай бұрын
@@fav4373it is anecdotal, yes; however, there is plenty of research out these days that are asymptotically converging to show the various anti-cancer, antiviral, etc. From CBD. Her input is useful, even though there may be several variables that may make the claim flawed. I don't use cannabis anymore. I have stopped 8 years ago. I decided to consume some because of my Covid 19, and I went from feeling like absolute dogshit; I felt like I was in opioid withdrawal to feeling near 100% better an hour to 10 hours after consumption. Theresa a few mechanisms to explain why that is the case. I understand that the plant treats pain, anxiety, depression, neuropathy, etc. So I certainly got a therapeutic benefit for my symptoms.. However, CBD + only THC A (vs the other psychoactive forms of THC), have shown to be antiviral (especially against Covid 19, Hep C, etc.), and anticancer. You show me something other than Paxlovid that can combat covid 19. I don't like cannabis in the sense that I don't ever use it, but it treated my Covid like no other. I took so much Tylenol, nsaids, vitamin C, and others, nothing worked. However, 1 hour into cannabis and I was able to do everything that I needed to do. My point is, I am pretty unbiased and could care less about weed, but I took my shot and had a profound recovery experience. I too am just anecdotal.

@@mikethomas4628 Be very careful. As far as I know right now, it is illegal to transport medical and recreational marijuana from a state where it is legal to another one that isn't yet. If you get caught, you will probably be fined heavily, maybe license suspended, and perhaps some jail time. And by the way, I suffer badly from severe Major Depressive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder, as well as constant panic attacks. I'm expecting my first MM card soon in Florida, and I'll have to use it here. I won't be going anywhere else with it.

I am in Canada, and a couple of weeks ago, my doctor committed to referring me to a doctor who is better trained. With my current drug plan, I will then be able to get it prescribed on a 20% co pay(thats all it will cost me). I've been using it for quite some time, but some times have gone without because of cost. I won't have to worry about running out and will be able to choose my dosage better. For those of you who will be getting assistance with your medical cannabis needs, I wish you well. Come back some time and let us know. The more people testify to its benefits, the more awareness, the less stigma, so more can benefit as well.

They either didn't work, made the condition worse, or caused horrific side effects... I tried vaporizing med cannabis, and 20 minutes later I started to cry because it was the first time I felt "normal" and my back didn't hurt... I've been off all the psych and pain meds now for over a year, and live a stable, pain free life thanks to med cannabis...

wow, you've made incredible headway after an uphill battle and a long, hard ordeal - nothing but respect and love to u - congrats & keep caring for urself!! 😊💗 respect i hope we can achieve a world sometime in the not-too-distant future where options like urs & even preventive options & holistic interventions can achieve equal status, footing and validity in terms of our system; what's acceptable, what's allowed, and ffs what's subsidized & paid for. i'm sick w/ lyme disease and conventional medicine's been of zero help. i'm dang tired after paying the amounts of taxes and health insurance premiums i did to have subsidized conventional DRUGS given out for diet-and-lifestyle-preventable diseases while there are better interventions/preventions out there which are boxed out from the medical industry. it's lame, unfair and murder to us lyme-affected ppl. cannabis is one of those things that deserves much higher (no pun intended, i stg) status in our medical system for its potential benefits and therapeutic uses. im so glad u found success w/ it, u deserve it

So congrats Doc for getting on board this wonderful healing train. keep up the fantastic work and accurate speeches- giving people hope while not promising the world as we know with the very limited but current knowledge we possess, it does not work for all cancers/ailments or all people. Genetic testing will open many doors for those people limited by genetics and I hope I am still alive when that becomes the FIRST treatment protocol recommended for cancer WAY WAY BEFORE chemo or radiation is given as a choice. "Chemo-therapy" is an oxymoron.

It does for me, anyway. I have Epilepsy & I grow my own annual supply: no chemicals, higher CBD & lower THC. If my seizure clinic records that I've had a seizure, even a very mild one, my driver's license is taken from me for six months or until I am seizure-free for six months. It has been a lifesaver for me, but not for my younger sister who died from severe uncontrolled Epilepsy. We shouldn't be telling anyone what they can and cant consume especially other adults. We have god given rights outlined in our constitution and we are all sovereign. Unless we are doing harm to another person or their property it is no one elses business what we do or dont do and government the way it is now is out of control. Marijuana, kratom, and many others were given to us by God and are there for specific reasons and we should be able to use them at our own discretion and also be granted honest and unbiased information about all these substances. We do not have transparency right now, nor do we have uncorrupted agency's. Its sickening actually.

I enjoyed this talk! One topic that kept going through my mind was about the ethics of medical marijuana use, especially viewed through the lens of a few principles of ethics such as beneficience and non-maleficence. Beneficence refers to the obligation of healthcare providers to act in the best interest of their patients. In the context of medical marijuana use, this principle suggests that healthcare providers should consider the potential benefits of using medical marijuana to alleviate symptoms or treat medical conditions. For example, medical marijuana has been shown to be effective in managing chronic pain, nausea, and muscle spasticity associated with multiple sclerosis. Non-maleficence refers to the obligation to avoid harm or minimize the risk of harm to patients. In the context of medical marijuana use, this principle suggests that healthcare providers should consider the potential risks of using medical marijuana, such as the risk of addiction, impairment of cognitive function, and the potential for adverse drug interactions. Healthcare providers should carefully weigh the potential benefits of medical marijuana against its potential risks before recommending it to patients. Overall, these two views provide a unique perspective to take into account when a provider is deciding on how to help their patient. Patients should be provided with accurate information, based on evidence of research, to make an informed decision about whether or not to use it.

@@rjsimpkins2911 The study stated that chronic use leads to the drop, I have to also mention a study that was done on a series of kids who smoked a lot, didn't smoke, and smoked moderately over the course of decades and when scientists did a brain scan on them found that they had the same results.

I never did drugs, weed , alcohol growing up but now when i do weed recreationally i see life in a different way it opens up different modes of thinking for me. Things that were “absolute” to me are more malleable and evolving as marijuana gives you answers that were there all along but it kinda turns off your ego in a very subtle way making you more compassionate, loving and understanding of circumstances, people and things. You realise in essence life is just self discovery to know thyself by being kind and spreading love. Theres nothing more to it

Reality hurts when you grow older and discover that Marijuana, which used to be taught as dangerous and illegal, was more beneficial to people with serious medical problems. With the right dosage and guidance, Marijuana can help and save many people’s lives.

I’ve always had really poor school performance always Fs and Ds from pre-k to 11th grade I wasn’t a bad kid or anything never got in trouble. But I started experimenting with it during summer and went into 12th grade using and my grades boosted like crazy my self confidence and I was able to pay attention so much easier and I was able to learn better but I decided to quit 1 months back and my grades plummeted it’s been very hard to pass classes now and focus on my school work.

You need to find high strength oils which can be slightly annoying and a long process. The best way is to get CBD flower and smoke/vape it trust me! Or make oils out of the flower yourself, The effects are instant.

What's funny is when they have a guilty conscience for giving a child Cannabis even if it means saving her life but they have a clean conscience pumping her full of very very strong benzodiazepines such as Midazolam which is highly addictive and structurally very similar to Xanax (Alprazolam) and which don't work.....or don't work well

Medical marijuana has been up for debate as there has been many discussions on how it fits into government policies and whether or not scientific research is strong enough to support its use. One of the statements made included the need to look at evidence from research and allow the use of medical marijuana because of the therapeutic effects from its ingredients. Utilitarianism would back this because the benefit of relieving patients from pain and unfavorable physical conditions outweighs the cost of possible upset over legal issues. One who practices ethics of care would agree with the utilitarian and state that emphasis should be placed on compassion for the patient.
