Dan shines a light on the dark and dirty traditions of cannabis cultivation and argues that a sun-grown future is the only sustainable pathway for a burgeoning new industry. Recorded at TEDxVancouver at Rogers Arena on November 14, 2015.

Dan Sutton believes that natural, sun-grown cultivation methods can enable a brighter future. In 2012, he took notice of the changing Canadian legislation around regulated cannabis, and began building a team of leading agricultural scientists. Together, they designed, built, and now operate a facility that produces the plant legally, distributing it through a subscription service for medicinal purposes. The entire operation is subject to intense regulation, and it is Dan’s business to know a lot about his product.
The massive scope of cannabis cultivation today is a reality, legal or not. The world’s most profitable cash crop is being grown en masse in every state, province, and metropolitan city in North America. It is a decentralized, cellular, and multi-billion dollar black-market economy. A legal cannabis-cultivation industry with the potential to displace the dark market is emerging, and Dan believes it needs to leave the archaic bunker grow-op behind.

The only dirty little secret in regards to cannabis, is the simple fact that we grew this plant for thousands of years as a farm crop, with no regulations at all and in reality, no government or anyone else ever had the right in the first place, to outlaw the growing and use of what is probably the most medicinal and useful plant on this earth. People everywhere should unite and with one voice, tell their governments that we will no longer allow them to prohibit this plants free growing and use any longer. Even the Christian Bible tells us that we as humans, have the natural right to grow and use plants such as cannabis, to derive whatever benefits we can from them. So I think that its just about time to bring this travesty of justice to and end and if governments will not do as we demand, then get rid of them by any means necessary.

real growers would happily accept slightly lower harvest for exceptional quality

The critical mistake is REGULATION. The reason it hasn't been grown outside is ultimately government regulation. Eliminate cannabis laws instead of adding MORE laws, and the free market will do the right thing.

So decriminalize it and grow it outside. Treat it like the plant it is!

Change federal law so people don't have to hide their plants in a freaking closet then. Easy fix.

I have long preferred my Marijuana sun grown. However to keep up with demand, I must be able to grow in the winter also. In my state, that means indoor.

The answer is ( in the U.S.) to end all enforced cannabis prohibition. Only politicians and lobbyists are in favor of more regulations...

Cannabis is bigger than all alcohols together. Legalization is a must.

As a grower in California, I could not agree more. We should have poison free food and cannabis. All medicines. I love to be in my garden. Wish I could afford a couple of those hi end greenhouses. Sun grown and organic. Demand this when you make a purchase.
