This seems like pretty blatant clickbait. Overthrow already did an infinitely more detailed and comprehensive test on these grips months ago. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gd16qdCLnLfbd2g.htmlsi=8KLDcEVrftO1NIuo

The annoying thing is that you think of yourself as a machine that knows he can do everything the exact same, each time you throw except the grip variation. Without any bias etc. Im not saying you're right or wrong, im just saying that videos like these prove nothing, it doesn't matter if you are the one, or OT is the ones making the "stats" videos. You would need 100s of different players doing all 3 grips for several 100s of throws to get some accurate data.

If you watch the channel over time, you'll come to know how your arm speed speed relates to his. You're either faster, or slower. Me, I appreciate his consistent data, and I want more. 😍

Tbf, I think the Power Grip as a name makes sense in any case as you can definitely grip the disc with more power that way. I used to use power grip, but due to some joint pain had to move to fan grip and initially lost lik 50ft of distance. As I've frown more comfortable with the fan grip, I've passed my power grip distance but still have this feeling in the back of my head that I'm missing out on distance potential due to the grip.

I have advocated for calling the power grip the closed grip, since your fingers are more closed up. Like Scott stokley pointed out, the only reason it is called the power grip is because someone decided to call it that, because for them they got more power, and because of that a lot of people erroneously think that this is the grip you need to get power. Now for me, I like it, it seems to fit my hand well, and like Scott points out the three things you need in a grip is a strong grip, a clean release, and a consistent release, So the best grip to achieve that may vary from person to person, because we don't have the same hand size or finger size. Uli power grips, and he's getting 1800 RPM, But like you pointed out Simon usually fan grips or modified fan grip, and I haven't heard for certain his spin rate, but I know it's high.

I know you weren't testing nose angle but it appears your 4 finger grip was allowing nose down + good speed/spin where as the other grips had good speed/spin but were nose up. Could this be why in essence a 4 finger grip is "better"? (idk).
@theOcean41
@theOcean41 5 ай бұрын
None were nose up. Nose angle is determined by flight trajectory. If you have a 2.0 nose angle but an 8.0 flight trajectory, it's still nose down by 6 degrees

I've seen a video recently (I forget who) where he says he's been taking his thumb off disc and getting more nose down throws. I'll probably try it and experiment

That’s interesting. I’ve always heard the fan grip produces less spin and is only suitable for putters and mids

I assumed that too until a recent video that Ricky Wysocki did on his upcoming season. He says he always threw everything…bomber drives too with a fan grip. He just started using the power grip this past offseason.

If pros are sending full max power drives they will all use "power grip", but the pros are not throwing full power almost ever. Even 150m+ is it in their controlled range like 70% - 80%. The control is more important for them.

That's not a fan grip imo. More of a stacked grip.

I just tested this at the field today and I added like 30ft or more of distance by using the pinch grip. Maybe it was that, combined with timing, but it was helping me out so much vs my power grip
@Timberius

Why fuss over a 2% difference in spin? If in the field you get better control with one, I'd go with that. 2-3% spin is negligible compared to other factors.

Your fan grip looks like your pinky is firmly hooked on the rim and your index is still hooked on the rim. It looks pretty identical to your pinch grip so is the only difference you don't have as much index + thumb pinch? Typically for max power and spin I think people are emphasizing front-loading with the power grip but you only mentioned front-loading with what looks like a modified fan grip. I think you should check your spin and speed with a front loaded pinch 4 finger power grip because I think this is the variant that many people are seeing max their spin and speed with tech disc tests (myself included).

Depends on your hand and the disc. No 2 hands are different. My middle fingers go outwards for some reason. I just want that 350' mark 😂 Let's Throooooooooooow!!!

Power grip is power grip not power throw grip. And did you notice that hycer angle effected your speed also. I believe it's your for your body which made that not your grip 😂😂
