I had an epiphany listening to this while I try to figure out how to manage today. My mental state for more than a while has been “Ive got to get it all today” A little voice asked me “Why risk jumping off a cliff when you can walk down the stairs?” The fear of jumping off the cliff has been so intense that I’ve been paralyzed at the edge, getting nowhere. Had I started walking down the stairs from the beginning I would have reached my destination already. Whats done is done. Starting today, I’m taking the stairs. Thanks Eddie.

Most motivational speakers (Tny Robbins; Joel Osteen) believe that most people LET themselves be depressed. People do NOT decide to be depressed and you can't just snap out of it. Alot if emotional distress is rooted in early childhood before one is even aware of their own autonomy. This can cause confusing lifelong incurable depression. Of course, many sanctimonious, arrogant psychologists, certified therapists, and counselors believe you should be cured just by being in their presence. When the root causes of depression, anxiety, panic attacks, etc, are seeded during this time of not knowing we are a live human being , our brain and emotions, which are still in their stages of very early development, they go into an automatic pilot mode to do whatever it takes to survive. This is NOT something that you are even the slightest aware of making a decision to do or not do. You aren't even mentally or emotionally able to LET this happen one way or another. Book knowledge without application and bumper sticker quotes is not genuine psychology or therapy, nor is it motivational - it's just more emotional abuse and stigmatizing.
