Kashif Bouns makes an entertaining and moving case for finding one’s purpose and embracing diversity - starting with a question: "Where are you from?" Drawing on his lived experience and his journey from Pakistan to Australia, he talks about reflecting on one’s identity and embracing it with a passion. He then moves on to the importance of purpose before building a business case for embracing diversity using examples from sport, including the Rooney rule and the AFL. A talk to share.
Kashif Bouns is a passionate and respected advocate for Australia’s multicultural community and for using sport and other social activities as vehicles of social inclusion and cohesion. He aims to deliver sustainable and relevant community services to help propel people into a bright future and to create a more equitable world.
Kashif has over fifteen years of experience in the education, business, sport, and community sectors with more than six years’ experience in senior leadership positions. A migrant to Australia from Pakistan, Kashif has risen above many challenges and has received a number of awards for his work in sport and community development.
Apart from his professional career, Kashif has represented Australia overseas on official government trips and sits on multiple boards. MBA qualified, Kashif is a sessional lecturer at Federation University and guest lecturer at Victoria University and RMIT University. Kashif is the General Manager of the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation. He has risen above many challenges and aims to deliver a sustainable and relevant community service to help propel the west into a bright future. This passion was not why he left Pakistan, but it is what cemented his future in Australia.
