I was testing my Precision stabilizer @ Spider Lake. I ran through standing water & clipped a hidden tree root that bent my rim. The impact dampening saved my wrist from injury. Recommend 100%. Pete you’ll wonder how you got by without one.

P9 Raceway great example man! It’s the terrain that’s out of your control that can catch the most experienced riders off guard. Plus some impacts can be too harsh for the strongest riders to hold on to. Its an upgrade I’ve always been curious about and should’ve bought many years ago👌

Just picked up my ‘22 Raptor 700 and took it for a few trail rides so far. Amazing power, plush ride, and nimble as can be, but I’ve gone up a few steep technical hill climbs that twisted the bar out of my hands from bumps and ruts when I had to make a transition in my riding line. Caused me twice to go off the trail. I mean I get that I’m a new rider, but after the second ripping of the bars, I had to take a second to make sure my shoulder was okay. Felt like it separated it. After watching this video, my first mod for my Raptor WILL be the Precision Elite stabilizer. Thanks Pete!

I agree on running steering stabilizers. Going to try one of Motowoz's (local MN company). Another thing that helps is running 4-1 front rims.

It’s been even better on my rides. Normally it gets pretty sketchy in really dusty conditions but now I don’t I’ve to be so paranoid about a rock or bump I can’t see. I’m always chasing riders for my videos so there’s been a lot of positives since installing this thing

Terrell Spivey it’s exceeded my expectations. I did my 4th ride with it yesterday and dropped it another 2 notches throughout the day. I love how I can hop off and just spin a dial so quickly. Being able to set it up for your riding style and conditions is pretty priceless

The bars being stable is a big benefit for sure, but for me being able to power through a corner and have the back end stay exactly where I want it is the biggest benefit.

John Case I knew it would be a classic case of regret. I should’ve been riding with one of these 10 years ago. The more I use it the more I love it. Regardless of the brand. Having a damper is better than no damper at all 👍

And you could always go w the precision pro and save a few bucks the elite is a nice upgrade I’ve ran all 3 in the past the pro adds more oil capacity and helps w fade and the elite your able to run it much stiffer vs the pro and not really notice it in the steering!

Love my elite stabilizers! Been w precision now for 5-6 years really great company to work with! The yfz450r’s need one desperately especially for woods racing i think pretty much any 450 really needs one! Great video man!

ononewheel7 thanks man! This product is so awesome it’s like cheating 😅 I couldn’t imagine putting your upper body through a GNCC course without one of these things. I’m always chasing riders for my videos and sometimes it gets quite dusty. There’s some peace of mind with one of these knowing the tires aren’t gonna bite and pull me off trail suddenly. It didn’t take me long to realize why spend less when you can spend more and get a product that will stand the test of time and be reliable👍

Coming from the motorcycle world, that damper should be very valuable for all the potential steering hazards. Motorcycles are especially susceptible to head-shake due to steep fork angles. Dampers are great, especially doing things outside the usual function of bikes. I'm sure the ATV damper is also great.

I ride dunes exclusively. In the smaller dune areas a lot of the main areas are rutted up from quads and utvs and it makes it a rough, chattery ride. Would this help in areas like that as well?

Easier on arms and way more safer because the handlebar stays straight avoiding a possible loss of control.. Along with the goldspeed beadlock rims (making possible much smoother rides using only 2.5 psi) this is one of the most important upgrades in my point of view. Keep up, I like your channel!

designspm dang all the way down to 2.5 PSI?! I had 6 PSI in the fronts when I was filming this. I would love to upgrade to a beadlock rim for next season. Would u stay away from the hipers and recommend the gold speeds?

Pete Hager i like hipers better if you bend a goldspeed wheel you’ll need to replace the entire wheel with hipers you can replace half’s and centers along w the rings! But hipers are more expensive and since weld racing bought them out the atv side of things support wise is way down! I have been lucky and still have been able to work with them!

@@PeteHager That's my first set of beadlocks ever so I can't give you a comparison with hiper or other ones. 2.5 psi is safe for goldspeed beads, have done dozens of trails with that spec. I don't recommend going below that, it is not necessary and you have the risk of damaging the tire

Northend nec I would love to get the suspension rebuilt or replaced with an aftermarket set up. I know it would transform the machine and make it much more capable. Do you have an aftermarket set up on your machine?

I was tempted to go a budget route but the last thing I wanted was to replace it in a year or two or have it fade on a rough ride and wish I would've bought a higher quality product. It's a classic case of you get what you pay for!

I bet that steering stabilizer is going to help a lot at high speeds I have hit big rocks and it feels like it's going to brake my wrist one of these times I just dont want to spend any more money on the raptor right now I found a trx450r for 1200 dollars so I'm trying to get the money before it sells

Everything Loud 406 you do a lot of high speed riding. A steering stabilizer would be a nice back up for you if there was a bump or rock that you didn’t see in time. It’s the stuff out of your control that’s scary 👍

Should I get new shocks or a steering stabilizer? The two times I’ve ever crashed are because of clipping a log but my rear shock is blown. So I could buy both but the big thing is that there’s not a lot of aftermarket shocks for the 400ex and the best cheapest one is elkas $1,400. I also plan on getting +2 a arms since my quad likes to roll when it hooks up.

Upgrading your suspension will definitely do wonders for your control! You could always source some TRX450R take off shocks and have them revalved them for a long travel a-arm set up. I plan on doing that with our 400ex and going through Rocket Ron for the shock rebuild. The stabilizer is still an excellent idea, especially if you've only crashed from hard, one tire impacts. The stabilizers have saved me several times and sketchy to ride without one once you're used to having one. I think they're the most important part you can put on a quad, it's like adding power steering in a way. Hope this helps with your decision 👍

@@PeteHager I think I’ll get the steering stabilizer no matter what but is it really that big of an upgrade for the stock 450r shocks or could I maybe get some nice new shocks for a 450 that aren’t outrageous and fit them on. Or maybe even get 450r a arms if they fit so I can kill two birds with one stone

@@SJ_999 there’s a lot of different routes to go, I’m not sure if stock 450r a-arms mount up to a 400ex but I wouldn’t be surprised. A lot of their parts are interchangeable. I suggested the OEM shock revalve as a cheaper alternative to getting aftermarket. I know many people pay to have their new aftermarket shocks revalved for their weight and riding style. Either way getting them set up specifically for you is definitely recommended. I would consult some Facebook 400ex groups for recommendations if you’re wanting more opinions 👍

i need help. I have the option to pick up the precision steering stabilizer pro model for $300. Is it worth it or should i wait longer and get the elite model?

I'm not sure if you've picked up your stabilizer yet but $300 is an excellent price on that damper if it's in good condition. Even if it's in poor shape you can send it to precision and they'll rebuild it. I'd buy it if I were you. The elite is nice but the Pro will still be awesome!

Wow that is incredible. I'm not a four wheeler guy but don't most quads now come with power steering which is supposed to take that jerking out? Or is it just those big 4 wheel drive quads that come with that, and the race bikes stay old school? I've heard people putting steering dampeners on their endure bikes, and track bikes and it is apparently amazing. Personally when I'm riding my bike, it's always when I'm tired that it catch a rock, or log and it's pretty much instantaneous low side wipeout. No need to say that it's painful, and can seriously injure the rider. Awesome review Pete, the older we get the more we appreciate comfort, and safety. I'm 38 years old, trying to keep up to the fast young kids on their 450s can get me hurt and out of work. We don't heal nearly as fast anymore😔😔😔😔😔😡😡😡😡

Sir Dick Little the new 4x4’s and sport utilities like the Can Am Renegade come with power steering. Unfortunately the pure sport ATV market didn’t make these standard. After experiencing it I feel like it wouldn’t be a bad idea for them to come equipped on new machines. The more we play the more we put ourselves at risk and this product helps keep the rider considerably safer in unpredictable terrain 👍

The comment you made at (1:38) about it starting to show aging & you could send it in for rebuilding.?...?..🤔 Could you elaborate on that a little more........ I've been reading on the page & couldn't find that part. I mostly found it was under warranty from a year of being purchased.

Kilo86Leo after 100-200 hours it would probably be best to have the fluid changed. I was told you can service it yourself or send it in for a rebuild and they’ll send it back. Ononewheel7 did a sweet video rebuilding his precision

Kilo86?Leo Oil change after 100 hours is a good idea. We have instructions on our website. Be care full of rebuild videos like Ononewheel7. He did not rebuild anything, it was just an oil change that he messed up by opening the unit and loosing the shim and filter then re assembling the unit with missing parts. He has taken the video down after 2000 people saw it though. To check if you need a rebuild: turn the adjusters to full hard and the try to turn the bars. It should be very difficult to turn the bars. The quad should be unreadable at any speed over 5 mph. If you could ride the quad, you need a rebuild. If you need a rebuild send it in. Do not trust shock guys to rebuild your damper, nor can you do it yourself without special equipment. I would say 99 out of 100 times customers would have been better off doing nothing to their dampers than having someone other than the factory rebuild it.

@@cesar0.079 I pump my tires up by feel.... I place one foot on tire then i (jump) bounce on it... if it bounces me up in the air like a trampoline for each tire their good... For drifting like on snow do same or just slightly pumped more ... Never make em rock hard... I use to do about flat on front w/ beadlocks and 5-6 psi on rear... and you can shred up a rear axle if you turn them to sharp and to hard all the time....IV done it to two 400 ex's

If your tires have a lot of pressure then they'll slide/lose traction easier. If you run them too low you could risk blowing one off the bead. I run 5 pounds in the rear usually

You can kind of think of the stabilizers as generations. The elite is the newest version of their design with a wider adjustment range and better light damping characteristics. The temperature does affect these quite a bit so if you're in extreme climates it may make more sense to go for the Elite model. Either way you'll be more than happy with your decision to get a Precision. Hope this helps 👍

i was thinking about getting a ccp for my 250r . how much better is ccp then the old stick style ? and why isn't ccp as good as precision ?

@@867diesel I don't wrench or race but people that I know that do claim the sticks have to be rebuilt often and it's the typical case of getting what you pay for. Stick is good, ccp is better, precision is best. I noticed a huge diffrence with the ccp as did my buddies that have tried it out. Worth every penny.

I’ve been told up to 100+ hours if you’re racing with them and 200+ hours for recreational riders. Once they start to show fatigue you can send them to Precision and they’ll rebuild it and send it back good as new. They’re a very good investment as used ones often sell within $100-200 of their msrp no matter how old they are 👍
