Update on the soup. I made it and it came out fabulous. My wife even liked it. I gave it a little extra vegetable stock and fresh grated ginger. I added the zucchini noodles in last like you suggested and threw in a tsp. of Hoisin sauce for good measure. The browning of the chicken and softening of the onion and carrot in the pot before adding the stock is the key to this soup. It all came together nicely. Thanks for the recipe! I'll definitely make it again when my daughters comes to visit on Christmas.

My great grandma always had a cast iron pan of cornbread about twice a day! She lived in Cane Creek...Bakersville NC! I miss it so much! My parents drove up there...we lived in Roxboro NC....so back then...70's and 80's...took about 5 hrs....no new interstates like now! I would make a pallet in the floorboard...my pack of Big Red Chew! Chewing gum! Cause the winding mountain roads... going up...ears would pop!!! If it was even midnight when we got there...grandma Burleson would have hot cornbread and buttermilk! Break it up in a bowl...that was heaven! Come early morning... about 4am...she would start breakfast! Fresh strawberries thawing. Molasses biscuits and butter is what I remember! My "Oad" is what we called my great grandpa and..worked at the sawmill...so did the other local men...some would stop by for breakfast! I always thought it was so early in the morning!!!!! But that was their way! I dearly miss those days!

Hey Corie. I found this online about the Griswold cast iron. The value of antique cast iron skillets can start at similar to new prices, but a super rare Wagner or Griswold can fetch up to $1,500 apiece. A mint condition, super rare "spider skillet" made in the 1890s by Griswold is worth up to $8,000. WOWZERS....😳

When your pan is seasons, and you cook eggs in your cast iron that’s seasoned, you cook eggs, since you don’t have any diet restrictions use your bacon, or lard grease! Your cooked eggs will float off the pan! Then just wipe out! You can find these pans in Southern PA!

OMG, what a great tribute to Dave Houston and Merle Haggard! It was nice to see the ducks being funny. I love ducks. Not to far from where, I live once, they reconstructed this park the first time and, set up playground equipment, sadly they moved out the ducks and, have not seen no ducks since. It looks like you both, have yet, a busy day ahead, God bless you Katie and Corie.

Great vid. lots of interesting content. That country band hat was laying was excellent...great singer. Good to see Josh with his new purchase in mint condition.....good old car to work on ...no computer crap etc. The scenery up on the range is breathtakingly scenic. I love those winding two way roads around the appalachians....i bet there are loads of accidents though....that just goes with style of roadway. NZ has the same roads but they put up white crosses showing the fatalty sites. The whole country is full of these crosses. Appalachia and NZ look exactly the same. But then NZ is one giant mountain range too. The girls are always intriguing and intelligent ...well raised.

@@brightpurpleviking I had a boss that bought one and he got half way home with it and it quit running on the freeway. They sent a wrecker for it and him. When he got back to the dealership the idiot bought another one. He also had an Oldsmobile Delta 88 and I’m not kidding there were times when both of the Jaguars were in the shop and he was driving the Olds.

Hello, yeah cooking off the cuff is the best cooks. My wife has been cooking for over 46+ years and never use recipes for everyday cooking. Occasionally she will use a recipe for a cake and sometimes she cuffs that to. I'll put her at the top of the list for best cook. We also have these little lizards in deep south Mississippi to. Collecting eggs is always a treat. Keep on keeping on. God bless.

For your garlic when the garlic temp reaches 140 degrees the sent of the garlic will bloom! For your carrots & hard veggies blanch them in hot water for 3 mins, then ice water shock them! This will help the cooking process, and when your add your onions they will become translucent together! No no no, take some hot veggie stock a full ladle of chicken stock so loosen the fond in the cast iron pan! Use your wood spoon to lift the fondle! Then pour into the chicken soup pot!

I do agree those are old pants. Hard to find but I'll stick with a set of Lodge seems to work well. That and a set of Vikings stainless steel

wow that fish was huge! was that a big bass? I'm a devoted bass fisherman so that was my favorite part of the video. What sort of fish are in that area anyway? up here we fish for bass, walleye and northern pike. Beautiful lake. Would love to fish in that part of the country someday. that Jaguar was awesome. did you get to drive it? Yes please make more soap! I want more.

I’m not sure what kind of fish it was. We mostly have Trout and Bass here. I thought it was pretty neat she caught it on camera! I’ll be listing some more soap here in a couple of days 🐠🙏🥰

Good video, put a little cooking oil in your pan when your browning your chicken and it won't stick so bad and it'll make clean up easier. Do you all have wild Ginger down there? It grows wild in the woods here and we dig it all the time. Wild Ginger has a better flavor than the store bought stuff. That soup looks delicious! Those ducks in that lake look delicious too! That cannon there on the lake would make one heck of a Punt gun to harvest them ducks! Corie, that soap looks good enough to eat!, it looks like Peanut butter fudge! If I ate a chunk of that I'd be farting bubbles for a week!!!!

Thanks for watching! I did use some olive oil. The cannon would blow the ducks to shreds! 😂😂

Lodge makes good cast iron for cooking.

Nice to see you using cast iron. I have a number of Griswald and Wagner’s I also like to use carbon steel pans. One of my favorites for fried eggs is a Matfer Bourgeat 8” crepe pan. Nice shallow sides easy to work with. My DeBuyer Mineral B pan is another good one. Heavy but it does a great job on chicken, fish , meats Like your soap making videos! That Jag brought me back a few years 😂😂 Wow I use to see those and could never figure out how I could get firewood home in that😂 Tell your Mom I liked that Apple cake recipe! Blessings to you all!!

I’ve never actually heard of those other two pans you mentioned, I’ll have to look them up! The Jag was pretty cool, buts that’s right you couldn’t fit much in it! Thanks for watching! 🙏🥰

Corey, you are correct about the cast iron. Nothing cooks like a well seasoned cast iron skillet or pan. I have several older ones and several of the Field company skillets. I restored the cast iron skillets my mother gave me and I wouldn’t take anything for them.

Why not put the vegetable broth in the cast iron pan, stir and pour into the soup pot? Then wash the pan (without soap) in the sink.
