So for the records an air route is starting from the 2nd quarter of the this year between Accra and Barbados and to Jamaica too. According to the organizers, it's been in the works for awhile and the time's arrived. They said the flight time will be between 6/30 to 7hours and it's going to be twice a week. Also it's private initiated not government.

My family lived in Barbados for 12 years and I agree it is a paradise. When we lived there Mia Mottley was the Deputy Prime Minister, I am always proud and impressed by her as a leader and as a woman. It is a well-run, efficient, organized and civilized, country. Her ability to explain issues so simply speaks to her genius. While we have lived in the United States and continue to live in the Caribbean, Barbados remains my home of choice. I will never forget Carols by Candlelight on the lawn of the Prime Ministers' residence and the way that everyone stayed and cleaned the area after the event, it speaks to the pride that Bajans have in their country. Thank you for bringing back these memories!

@oscaralison Barbadian is the official name for people from Barbados. Bajan is the original name of the dialect spoken in Barbados but over time it became the nickname for Barbadian. A person from Barbados will always refer to themselves as Barbadian in a formal setting or when identifying themselves to someone from a different country. If the conversation is not official then most Barbadian would use either Bajan or Barbadian. I know that other islands just use Bajan and most are unaware that it is just a nickname but in Barbados both Barbadian and Bajan is used frequently.

It's a great honor to you and your team in having privileged to meet the Prime Minister of Barbados; who recognized the mission you embarked in connecting our brothers and sisters anywhere in the world, especially in the Americas/Caribbean. She made such a powerfiul speech a few years ago at the UN convention in support of Haiti, my country, and Cuba. She knows that if those countries regain monopoly in food trade and economy, most of the islands wouldn't import good from the West and I know they hate her for her remarks. We also need a strong connection between the Caribbean and South Pacific countries! I'm a Solomon Islander, and I admire PM Mia's stance on climate change! She's one of the world's most intellectual leaders! Blessed love from Solomon Islands! Thanks Maya for the video! I've been a huge fan as well! 🙏🏾🇸🇧!

Intelligent leaders are rare. The Prime Minister of Barbados really reminds the rest of Africa what true leadership looks like. Anytime she speaks wit and wisdom shines true and you wonder if she could be adopted as Africa's sole rep at international gatherings. Her grasp of issues is exceptional Barbadians must be proud of her. Wada Maya is doing a good job bringing Africa to the rest of the World and that, she recognises. 👏🏽👏🏽

Barbados is indeed a beautiful country. Good on you village boy for the good job of helping to connect the Caribbean with Africa. It’s good that the Prime Minister does not necessarily have to live there at all time. For us in Zambia, we have such a great respect for the Barbados Prime Minister & may God indeed continue to bless her

There has always been some level of connection though - look at Liberia in the mid 19th century. I just think Africans need to connect with each other like Caribbean people connect with one another.

This was a historical moment, as an American-Bajan I'm so proud of you Wode Maya and PM Mia Amor Mottley. Congrats on your work Wode Maya on connecting the African diaspora. After watching African Tigress's visit to Barbados, and now Wodemaya's , I am impressed that Bajan women are by far more Afrocentric than most African women!! No silly clownish straight hair wigs and weaves that are favoured by my Nigerian women and other African women! God bless Barbados 🇧🇧 for her beautiful Black Bajan Queens!! Nigerian women think they need these soppy straight hair weaves and wigs to look sophisticated and are mimicking Black American women lock, stock and barrel!!! Not a good look for Mama Africa! 👊🏾🇳🇬👊🏾🇳🇬!
