Many Europeans considered the indigenous people of the Americas to be "primitive savages," we actually think the opposite, yes maybe, just maybe, the conquistadors are actually the primitive savages of history... Sit back and prepare to have your mind blown!

He should have mentioned that marrying within the family to keep the royal bloodline was also common in other cultures such as Egyptian and even European cultures not just the Incas.

Yup and really it only happened within a small population in Ameri-indian cultures such as the Elites. The rest just married out of family because they had no need for keeping the bloodline pure.

But the Aztecs WERE North American tribes. Mexico is part of North America. A lot of people tend to forget that. But what bothers me more is that EVERYONE (apart from the U.S) tends to forget that in general we are ALL Americans. Let it be North, Central or South. The continent is divided in 3 parts but the key word here is "America". I just can't understand why English speakers put the excuse that such thing doesn't exist in the English vocabulary. Like are you kidding me? It's not that hard to translate the obvious. But other than that, I agree with you in that they could've mentioned cooler things about the American tribes (all of them)

Roman Ramos which is a lot of people of all diff backgrounds. Why would u automatically equate white with evil or negative traits as if evil doesn't or has never existed among other people?
@rayromano1446
@rayromano1446 7 жыл бұрын
Mzmissy215 I was talking about me first of all, and my ancestry. The more "civilized" one becomes; the more detached from nature-spirituality one becomes. I can write pages and pages about this but I'm not. It just so happens that my ancestry is part Spaniard. Were they anglo... maybe. I never used the word "evil" first of all. 😁 You did! Which says more about you than anything. Anyway; I said "negative" traits ie. Male pattern baldness, disease, etc etc. I know it's my "native" roots that give me what little spirituality I have left.
@Mzmissy215
@Mzmissy215 7 жыл бұрын
Roman Ramos explain what u mean by "which says more about u than anything" in regards to when I said u essentially seem to consider white negative or evil in a sense. And why would having native roots automatically give u spirituality? It does not. What gives u spirituality is the way u as an individual live your life. Clearly you're feeding into Hollywood's portrayal of all natives being stoic and spiritual and in tuned w nature constantly communing with animal spirit guides and all the other stereotypical parts. Have u never bothered to study how tribes often went to war with and massacred each other? Clearly not.

Viewers please disregard most of what the video describes as facts. There are huge historical inaccuracies in this video. For one Europeans did sleep together because central heating had not been invented, and second most Aztec sacrifice were volunteers that had been defeated in war and killed humanly. In fact the aztec saw the spanish as blood thirsty because they did not take prisoners. This chanel is not know for insight into history but current culture.

To be fair. The happiest societies have the highest suicide rates. People from war torn regions and starving impoverished areas almost never kill themselves. The Indians probably wouldn't either because they mostly live in small villages and they all had much more similar jobs and lives. It's a lot easier for a swede to get depressed because everyone else in his country seems to be doing so great.

This guy doesn't know what he is talking about. Why did he not mention the architectural wonders of the ancient Latin American cultures like: Macchu Picchu, Sacsayhuaman, Choquequirao (in Peru), Tiwanaku (in Bolivia), Tenochtitlan (Mexico), or Tikal (in Guatemala)? How about the fact that the Inca civilization never starved because of their impeccable farming techniques? Aztec plumbing anyone? How about the fact that the Mayans were great astronomers? Did I mention all three were great math geniuses? About half of Inca land was acquired by peaceful agreement because the Inca offered a better life for the other Andean and coastal tribes (given - some resisted - resulting in violent conquest, but still). The Inca Empire has been hailed as the Roman Empire of the Americas for their vast road system! The food and diet of all the indigenous people of the Americas was beyond healthier than the Western world. I am a proud descendant of the Quechua people (the main Inca tribe (which is why I said more about the Inca in this comment)), and I know where my roots are. Also shout out to the Aymara, Taino, Mapuche, Zapotec, and other indigenous tribes from Latin America that were not mentioned in this supposed "Latin America" centric video.

Also that many of the pioneer women who were captured by Native American tribes, when they were found and told that they can come back home, most of them were like "oh hell no, I actually get appreciation and respect for what I do, and people don't act like I'm a dumbass just because of my body parts. Sapa Inti i think he/she said that because the conquistadores came and stole gold and resources and made Spain/crown and its people rich with the suffering of the Natives. The conquistadores weren't working for themselves, plus many went back to Spain While other spaniards, most likely poor and criminals came here for a new beginning.

Also we are now at fault for what our ancestors may or may have not done. So there is no need to be sorry. Just knowing it was wrong and preventing this from reoccurring should suffice.

*another correction* Women could vote before 1920 in the United States. Land owners voted whether they were man or woman. As a whole, women vote more often than men in the United States. So you can't put the blame on (white) men with the assertions you make in the video. You are sounding like buzzfeed more every video.

I like how he glosses over sacrifices and inbreeding and what about most tribes not inventing the wheel but ignore all that they were the original socialists and that was good, right?

I am a history major, I've spent so may years being told this same narrative that you get in this video. Let me just say that all women were not free, and that all native Americans were happier, or they lived better lives. These people were divided into bands of a few dozen to a few hundred people. It's true that they lived together, slept together, and hunted together, it's also true that they killed each other. Native american history is filled with Waring tribes and slaughter of entire peoples. They were not these peaceful people that your being led to believe. The same went with women, the first explorer of Texas, Cabeza de Vaca was enslaved by a tribe that murdered any female baby born to it, and only continued because it's men would enslave and rape women from other tribes. Also, native american hunter gathering societies cannot support the large population of an agrarian civilization, agrarian civilizations are much more effective at maximizing resource to support large population, this is why the estimated population of the Aztec and their vassal people they kept as slaves and sacrifices, were an estimated 30 million in that small area, compared to only a few hundred thousand in the continental United States when Europeans arrived. The same story in for the Inca people. This vast difference in population is why the population of Mezoamerica has a more concentrated Indigenous American racial ancestry then the populations of Anglo American and the Southern Cone of South America. Finally the native people did not die of European slaughter, the gun could only fire one bullet every ten minutes at that time, it was diseases that not even the Europeans knew they were spreading, they thought it was god doing it. There were wars though between the Natives and immigrants, just like how the natives went to war with themselves for millennia. You may think that its cute to talk about how much better it would be if you didn't have European civilization, but was fighting for your life and not know when you could eat again as some illiterate hunter gatherer. But your wearing synthetic cloths, siting in a synthetic char, watching this on you computer with the internet, I see you actually need this savage European would.
