I heard this song as a child on a substandard, early evening, home video clip show on TV in the 90s... I have been looking for it ever since, without EVER hearing it again. Finally, by pure chance the album it's on came up while I was scrolling through a music critic site's Tumblr feed and based on the blurb I looked it up on KZfaq. Nearly hit the ceiling when I jumped out of my seat upon realising I finally found it and was hearing it for the first time in over 20 years. What a tune.

Yeah, I remember hearing it on 'You've Been Framed' in the 90s too! Shame it took so long for you to find it, but at least you did! I found a song I'd been searching for, for about 20 years fairly recently, so I know the feeling!

Glad you found it, because it really does haunt you......I've been looking for a punk song for over 20 years. I caught it by off chance on cassette tape (poor quality) but then cd's came about and my parents (who have 100 year old furniture btw) decided my tapes were obsolete. The only comfort I have is.....I can hum it in my head.

This will always have a very special place in my heart, and one of my favourite memories of my life. When me and my Dad would visit my Nan's farm he would pull over at the start of the driveway, sit me on his lap so I could see over the dash and steer, he would turn this up full volume and floor it. Kicking up dust and with a beaming, menacing, smiling toddler at the wheel, my Nan would see us approaching the house at 50mph, threading the car through the narrow gateway then come to a sliding halt on the gravel just outside her kitchen window. I never understood why she would come running out with a wooden spoon and proceed to beat my father's laughter out of him, and when I was old enough to understand it made me appreciate that drive even more. He passed away in 2013 just two weeks before Christmas but the memories like these we shared taught me that, when I do become a father I will know to follow by his example and make every moment as fun as possible, because those are the ones we love the most.

You wouldn't believe how hard it was to get here. I caught the last minute or so of this music video on TV (VH1 Classic "We are the 80's") earlier this evening, but didn't catch the band or the name of the song. I immediately went on an 80's searching spree, but the 1000+ videos I scrolled past were the same old mainstream hits. Google and KZfaq kept throwing Madonna, Blondie and The Runaways at me. I had no lyrics to go on, but I was determined to hear this one again. I ended up with countless tabs open in my browser, and just as I was ready to give up I arrived at a random list of the top 10 UK indie bands from the 80's. At the very top of that list? This video.

The Primitives, along with Voice of the Beehive, and the Darling Buds (and let's not forget Holly Beth Vincent) should have at least 4-5 Top Ten singles in America EACH! Elvis said it best, "the radio is in the hands of such a lot of fools...!" How is it that so many great tunes from the 80's are basically unheard today?
@Panos-xo9rc Жыл бұрын
Because drum machines,synths and epectropop reigned supreme back in the 80s. Guitar based bands like Primitives,or the Smiths were either one hit wonders or totally against the current,respectively.

@@Panos-xo9rc You're totally wrong on that my friend. Those "synth" bands were just another "alternative" current that never made the mainstream and were trying just as hard as the ones I mentioned to get heard by an audience that in America, at least, that was continually fed the leftover dregs of the garbage popular in the 70's. Have been listening to the Primitives pretty exclusively this current summer after recently rediscovering them after 27 years during a visit back home overseas. I liked them back in the day but I'm really into them now- my 'new' fave band. Took the Galore CD back with me and recently purchased the awesome Greatest Hits- what a great CD! Spin-a-Rama should be arriving any day now. Would love to see this band some day. Again, it's been a great summer with the Primitives providing the soundtrack. Terrific Terrific.

Never thought I'd find this hidden gem after watching a AVGN episode. A perfect year end theme song for a fucked up year, yet the song was so cool I'm gonna put my player on repeat for quite a while.

This is an amazing song. The arrangement and genius guitar work is sublime. 30 years ago I was a student and would frequent alt night clubs in Coventry. Occasional Tracy would make an appearance. 5 foot nowt, stunning and alluring. I didn't have the balls to say hi, just admire from a distance. It kept the mystery. Thanks for posting. ♥️
