And all the other comments are 5-6 years old, yet this one is only two months. And I didn't get here from a recommendation, I'm in the pool with my wife at night, reminiscing about old bands and I simply searched for this one. Weird!

@@gulfsurfco ii was in Sydney Australia at the time now I live in Melbourne Australia lived through the underground pub scene of Sydney Australia in the 80's moved to Melbourne in 1999 but lived through an amazing time in Music, too many unbelievable Acts to mention we were spoilt for choice the Darling buds were different to the Rock Pop and punk bands I was watching at the time but their sound was so infectious not to mention the beautiful lady singing those songs to me 🌝☮️🌈🦋 Let's go round and round and.......

Great mix of early Blondie and The Primitives, great song this is!

Kills me that a band as good as this never made it big; but then their obscurity is what we indie-folk cherish!

Wow I've not heard this in 20 + years. Forgot about this band . . . no idea how. Brilliant.

She had the looks and the voice. Surprised they weren't much bigger
@kyachdistent13013 жыл бұрын
I'n not. She's not an attention-seeking, gold-digging thieving old slagdonna, or bleeding ears soul-crap of Houston/Turner/Stansfield or part of the MOR power ballad howling/bleating stain from the US (Womacks/Heart/Starship/Atlantic Star/Jets etc.all) nor part of the PWL (puke/wank/laugh conveyor belt that minogue and the rest form all of. That's all the bases covered. No one fitting into that (and is a bird or fronted by won) will have a place!

Not surprised they never really hit big sadly. Too pop sounding for any rock stations of that era in the late 80s or early 90s, too alt rock sounding for any top 40/pop stations.

The girl can dance! Haha, Saw them live at The Bordlerline in Londona few months back...well her and a bunch of musicians. It was good fun but not the same as those early gigs. They were the bollox.
@ladyambermere4 жыл бұрын
Either ten years too late or ten years too early for 1988. You can see the influences: Blondie, Warhol, Velvet Underground, The Smiths. So close to greatness, it's tantalising. Still sounds very fresh (even if the dancing makes Bananarama look like Cyd Charisse).
@nobbynoris Жыл бұрын
I grew up in this era and Keren Woodward WAS my Cyd Charisse and I won't have you disrespect her! It doesn't matter if she danced like a cucumber on a chicken skewer, she is still almost certainly the most beautiful woman I have seen in my life.

Fame is aleatory. If the Darling Buds had made these songs in 1979 instead of 1989, they would be lauded by the half-arsed music writers in the national press to this day.
@eddiewillers110 жыл бұрын
Yup - Andrea was the greatest in the 'Blonde' bands (honourable mentions to: Tracy Tracy of The Primitives; Wendy James of Transvision Vamp and a shout of for the indie B-listers such as Johny Johnson of The Siddeleys and Alex Taylor of The Shop Assistants/Motorcycle Boy). I heard Andrea ended up as a drama teacher?
@VanielDeeform Жыл бұрын
That whole Blonde female led band of the late 80’s is overlooked. I’d say Voice Of The Beehive were easily up there at the top: Here’s their most well known song/video recently remastered kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qrt4aptqrJnKXZ8.html But they had so many other strong tracks, 3 albums & sheer character to back them up.
@HarryPotter8710 жыл бұрын
Andrea also happens to have been influenced by Debbie, too!

I only ever saw the Darling Buds once, at ULU sometime in late 87 or early 88, and then only because The Wonder Stuff were one of the support bands. Good band though.
@AttitudeCharter8 жыл бұрын
+Christopher Luxford I saw them at ULU and The Wonder Stuff were on my favourite bands. Maybe not then then if I didn't remember them. Maybe a different ULU night. Remember it was fucking great though.
@slowuncleАй бұрын
During that era Buds & Wonder Stuff shared a producer (Pat Collier, ex-Vibrators).

She was seriously sexy. It's a cracking tune. Best of the "Blonde" period of Britpop in my opinion
@VanielDeeform Жыл бұрын
Voice Of The Beehive 🐝~*🎶 were of that era/scene, but stood out as well, probably as blonde singer songwriter Tracey Bryn also played guitar. That & her sister Melissa also sang and fronted the band. Likely less C86 influenced as well, but a similar set up otherwise of leather & levi’s rock n roll guys in the band.
@mclaughlinstonham6 жыл бұрын
They were ok. Kiss of death signing to a major label (CBS), culturally they didn't really fit any genre. Not cool enough for the indie kids and simply didn't sell enough records..to sell out.
@kyachdistent13013 жыл бұрын
In other words people are tastless shit. It's slagdonna and whitney houston if your woman or any shit male band or singer. They were simply too good for the retarded wanker audience like ALL the best 80s acts were without querstion. And the indie kids AREN'T cool, certainly not if half the shit termed it is anything to go by! Yet people like the b52s and talking heads get an audience, and minogue and slagdonna, bon jovi, beastie boys, wet wet wet, lisa stansfield, bros, rap etc. Oh okay!

Aunque es algo lamentable (no achacable al grupo, sino a lo discográfica... y al horterísimo machista de la época), el tema es mítico.
