I’ve been watching this since yesterday omg

I went to Lemon Bay high school and it's such a crappy school. They used $35 million to rebuild the entire campus. I would have rathered them spend that money on new teachers who know what they're doing, not a fancy building.

I think In school suspension (ISS) is a way better punishment than out of school suspension (OSS). A lot of students will look at OSS and be like "Yay! A day off from school! This is going to be great!" But, if they were to get ISS instead, they'd actually think of it as a punishment, because they'd still have to go to school, but they wouldn't be able to go to class, so they'd be bored to death the entire day.

In 2020 now all of these episodes that took place on television 10 years ago is fun! I wonder about these kids that were disciplined in the principal's offices where they are today. Some graduated from college and have good jobs, married with kids of their own, or in prison.

Respect is something you earn not demand. One issue I have with respect is when authority figures brainwash subordinates. I do not like it if principals expel students for not having the same beliefs as the faculty or if bosses fire employees for not having the same beliefs as they do. If authority figures oppress people or force false or hateful beliefs, they do not earn respect.

This is one reason I do not believe in school suspensions. If parents do not continue the punishment at home, and the kid is allowed to be at the beach, and party time while he is suspended from school, what does he learn about his behavior and consequences? I agree with this other person who posted. If not paddled, he should at least be grounded to his room to think about having respect for his teachers.

A better punishment would have been detention, and to write "I will not disrespect or make disparaging comments about teachers" at least 500 times. Looks like suspension is overused way too much. Or again she should have paddled him

Yes the suspension will be "awesome" but the suspension will follow you on your record (that's probably the worst long term punishment) and when you are applying for a job in high school, or to college or for college benefits this is something that could be used against you, just remember that

Yea, I agree. Freedom of speech is a great thing, but it doesn't give people the right to be disrespectful to teachers. Principals have the right to suspend students for being disrespectful to teachers just like bosses have the right to fire employees for being disrespectful.

@hymnsinger5 - They didn't have ISS back when I was in school but I have always thought that it would be quite effective. OSS, unless there's some sort of consequence at home, is effectively an unscheduled mental health day.

You are right about that!. If he was my kid and he got suspended, I would definitely ground him for at least a week. I would also make him work in the house (like cleaning the garage) during the suspension.

Also, I do not like if parents force their religion or beliefs onto their children. Children should be free to have their own beliefs or practice their own religion, not be obligated to believe or live by the same religion or beliefs as their parents. Principals do not have the right to expel students on religious grounds. Bosses do not have the right to fire employees on religious grounds either.

At Powell High School in Powell TN, you will get in trouble for using the word retarded. We did a campaign back in the beginning of 2014 and the word is very offensive and hurtful. It shows lack of respect, consideration, and thoughtfulness. It is insulting. Let's cut the R-word out of vocabulary and the dictionary.

@psims77 The same thing you said about teachers is also true for parents and other authority figures. I do not like it if parents force their moral or religious beliefs onto the children. Many parents discourage children from reading material that does not agree with their religion as well as looking into religions other than what the children are taught growing up, but I am against that.

my son in in ap classes and gets very respectable grades, he is also however a very "bad" kid and fucks with teachers and often gets sent to the principals office, i make sure to tell him that he should respect authority figures when he grows up, but untill then he should give the teachers a hard time

@psims77 Teachers do not earn respect if they have absurd beliefs or have been deceived by zero tolerance. There can be an excuse for disrespect. That includes cultural falsehoods, or "woozles." One excuse for consciously disrespecting teachers is they have moral beliefs that are actually false or unsubstantiated. Calling a child or subordinate disrespectful just because he or she dismisses an authority figure's beliefs when they are actually false is called brainwashing or mind control.
