Yup, this one being my least favourite simply because Patrick hardly features. It couldn't be helped, of course, as he was off filming the movie 'Ice Station Zebra', so it was written this way to cover up his being unavailable at the time. It's three more after this, in order, 'Girl Who Was Death', 'Once Upon a Time' and, of course, the amazing finale, 'Fall Out'' :)

I watched this show way back when it came out (80s?) and did not understand it. I again watched it in 2020 when we were locked at home with nothing else to do and still do not understand it. 🙄

13:13 One of the more serious problems with this episode is that Nigel Stock’s performance just doesn’t compare with Patrick McGoohan’s. Sorry, Nigel, but you are _not_ Number Six. Other shows have handled this kind of challenge better. The same year that The Prisoner was originally broadcast, The Avengers did an episode with a similar premise to this one, and the actors playing the body-swapped leads never had me doubting for a moment that these were the same characters. A year before that, Doctor Who did a story in which another character effectively becomes the Doctor, and it’s really frustrating that the visuals of the story are missing from the archives: the impersonation of William Hartnell’s vocal mannerisms is so good, I want to see if he nailed the body language as well. Still, based on the soundtrack, he did a convincing job. So, it can be done. But they fell short here.

Without a shadow of a doubt for me this is easily the weakest entry in the series, the one episode I always skip over when re-watching and wish they'd never made. Patrick McGoohan's absense really reduces this to pure filler and takes the show off into a sci-fi area which is really rather beneath the overall integrity of the show. It doesn't help that his 'stand-in' - character actor Nigel Stock has a long history of playing cold, unsympathetic slimeballs (which he does very well!) making him a poor choice for the role. The introduction of some backstory for No.6 also seems entirely redundant/tacked on. Still, onwards and upwards towards the tremendous finish!
