Fire video Fam! Question about using the focusrite on Bandlab. Have you ever had the issue where your active track is recording all audio on other tracks such as the backing track. Like the output is routed to inputnon whatever track you record making it impossible to record just vocals? I need to get this fixed!

I used to not print my auto tune, then I started doing it and haven’t done it the normal way since. Idk, since I use the uad console and print the effects on there, (ie. compression, eq, tune) I’ve been able to achieve a more complete sound before I ever even go in the box and make the few adjustments in there. “To each it’s on” is an obvious statement here, though.💎

a lot of ppl don’t like the printing process because it’s basically doing what the uad console was made for to recreate the studio workflow and recording through the gear is supposed to make mixing be minimal and not this hard process ppl want to glorify

@@SKYJORDXN the main thing people aren’t understanding is that when you’re recording with the auto tune enabled you can hear within the headphone mix whenever you’re singing flat, too sharp, etc. those same people rely on the auto tune POST to clean up the mess they’ve made during the recording process. If you’re able to hear how things are going to sound WHILST recording and are able to fix your mishaps right then and there, then that makes the mixing process even that much more enjoyable. I no longer record myself nor any other artist who come into my studio without printing the auto tune UNLESS that artist doesn’t want tuning done to their vocals at all. (I still add a little😏)

I print it to an aux track and on the original track, just in case. 90% of the time the printed aux track is perfect.

I found out about printing Auto-Tune once I upgraded to my Apollo Twin Interface and Ive been doing since. IMO it’s the better choice. I use a low setting(retune at 12&flex tune at 46) because I can always add more Auto-Tune later if needed. Tracking should be at 1 to minimize any background noise

My concerns are mic placement and full vocals. I have a condensed dynamic podcast microphone and i feel like its harder to get "stable", "dryer"...FULLER vocals. when i mix i tend to have my vocal frequency to high but i cant see or hear that issue very well, due to bandlabs basic pluggns, i cant get numerical data. i use FL mobile but idk how to hit record or stop vocals from cutting out. going to upgrade to pc and interface soon

There are videos on setting up a studio mixer to your computer and daw to record vocals instead of using interface you will need noise suppressor plugin to tame unwanted frequencies That's how I record my vocals It works for me you can hear the fullness of your voice Hope that helps you

if you’re sending it for someone else to mix it, you could just turn off all other effects, except for autotune and “print” it still. some people just don’t like completely commuting to effects without the ability to alter it later. way ways some producers don’t like rendering out their melodie’s.

The thing with autotune though is that if a song is in C# major (just an example) and you set the pitch correction to the same key there's a lot of people who still get it wrong. The beat may start on a different note in the key of C# major, and the artist sings a different note (within that key) meaning they aren't performing in tune. In my opinion it is good to use autotune without it being printed because you can pitch correct with more precision later. But if you can hit the notes of a beat using autotune, than printing is not a bad thing neither. The latter option is using Melodyne post recording and fix notes manually or graph mode in Autotune to precisely fix your notes. So either way is not right or wrong.

@@Atrocity1k True, can't blame autotune at that point. So why worry wether someone is printing or not when the priority is to use the program correctly to begin with. Chris Brown doesn't have to worry because he sings/performs good to begin with. He works with producers who make instrumentals that go on par with him and his style. Plus their is so much that goes on post prod. It is not like Chris Brown just hops on a two track from KZfaq and call it a day. His autotune would be messed up if he did that. I mean his performance.

@@HoeChattaBeats that literally doesn’t make sense. Getting emailed 100 beats and choosing one is the same as going on KZfaq and choosing a beat from KZfaq. The only difference is the caliber of the producers sending the beats. The tune printed in A minor is not going to be affected if the second beat used is also made in A Minor. That’s why Keys and Tempos are important to set at the beginning of the session. You’re assuming every record gets post produced that’s not the case if you ever been apart of an industry session. They literally record over a two track and get the stems once the song is recorded so the engineer can make the vocals sit better on “THE SAME BEAT STEMS”

@@Atrocity1k I hear you and agree with what you said. An artist gets 100 beats and picks the one that they feel more or like. But what I am trying to say is that for example an artist gets a beat in A minor. If the beat has notes in the sequence of A, B, C, D, but the artist performs in G, F, E, D even though the notes are in the same scale, printing autotune won't help. I get what you are trying to say, but in my opinion this makes it harder to correct when printing. If you don't print your autotune you can always correct things post. You can always match the beat to the vocals or manually correct the note with graph autotune post. An experience artist can definitely get a two track beat and hit the notes by ear with the help of autotune. Someone like CB feels confident to print autotune because he can already hit notes by ear and second nature. Don't you think most artist record to a beat, edit the beat, and record again. Everything ties together from song writing, production. mixing, mastering, etc. But that's a whole different topic. In the end I still think there is no right or wrong to printing autotune. It is a preference. I have seen engineers print it and some don't. And most who print autotune also use Melodyne post recording to fix notes not in key to the instrumental.

@@HoeChattaBeats You’re missing the point. If the artist is not performing in the right key then they should re-record! You don’t have to be as experienced as CB to use Autotune. A minor : A,B,C,D,E,F,G,A GMajor : G,A,B,C,D,E,F,G Where you start can change the entire tonal center. Notice how both keys have the same notes. But the keys don’t sound the same the song is in not the same key just because the series of notes are similar to another scale. There are only 12 notes and 7 notes in each scale. It’s all about the tonal center. The moral to the story is if you perform in the right key, the beat doesn’t matter if the beat is in the key the artist performs in. If the artist is an amateur then they shouldn’t print because they haven’t trained themselves to understand when they’re outta key. I promise you if the engineer you’re working with always have to change your entire performance to a different scale. You either gonna pay them a lot or find another engineer. I’m speaking from industry experience. Work in a commercial studio and you won’t see melodyne a lot.
