Have you seen the latest video of the well known Internet shopping site (I won't name any names 😉) where their driver followed the Sat Nav apparently into the farmers field ??. Only time I've been on grass is tipping cladding at sites so I know plant etc has already been across it. Otherwise I'd never entertain it unless I'm empty and can just put the trailers ass on it not the unit. Tbh some of the sites in winter pose a bigger problem.

Only seen one police chase on the A1. Four police cars rolling at the front at low speed to keep everyone back, this went on for about 5 minutes. Then all of a sudden a Blue Octavia VRS comes flying down the shoulder followed by 3 more cars and they all speed off to chase.

@@ExceptforAccess It is pretty standart for this company and the type of job we do. Some do get an "own truck", but it's seniority that brings a perk, or the driver is being given a branded truck to run loads for another company (Bakery brand! operated by Trucking company). I am only recently, read the last 2 weeks, transferring from Class 2 to Class 1. I will be on a "Megatrailer" this first week on my own, in the artic. a Cooler Megatrailer with a rollertrack in it, for aircraft "plates" full of cargo. Going the full 16.50m, 2.60m(reefers are wider then normals) wide and 4m high. (I think you do not have a hight limmit, correct me if i am wrong. Here it is 4meter.) I do Airfreight, from the airfields to the end user and in reverse.

Awesome vlog and a great topic too 👍🏻 at some point in our HGV lives we can get things wrong ! Even I got a bin truck stuck in the mud once for 2 hours I dug it out though saved recovery costs and at the end of the day it was a job we had been on for months so we didn't have a problem up until that day when it just went wrong 😔. So yes you are right in saying yes we make decisions based on are experience what we see and have done over and over so many times before and been incident free. Yet just that once day out of our careers under pressure or who knows what !? And there it is the ! The oh why did I do that day ??. We are all Human we make mistakes too ! But we are far less likely to make as many mistakes if any !. But once again what a great vlog 👍🏻👍🏻

Reminds me of a time years ago and me pulling timber out of a forest with a tractor.. All day i'd pulled timber out until the very last load when it punched straight through the surface and that poor tractor rolled over..It took two day's to get that pulled back on it's wheels. Sometimes it doesn't matter how well you check it can still go wrong.

I agree Tom, like my Uncles feild is still like a quagmire under foot in places a few weeks after the last rain drop we seen on lower ground. I thought that seen as like a patch of grass like a lawn maybe a week at most would be dry. and yes just because it is dry under foot, an artic can break through a top layer of mud, so while a driver might feel it firm under foot, doesn't mean it is good 6 inches or so below the surface, as you can get trapped in a false sense of security.

Only ever seen one police chase. Was on an average sized A road and the Audi A3 being chased was coming towards me on my side of the road passing about 4 cars on a blind bend. He just missed getting me head on and scared the crap out of all involved. Then about 5 seconds later the cop car came along. Think they were struggling to keep up.

When I drove a low loader, I once loaded a couple of machines, and then tried to turn in a gateway. Ordinarily that would have been fine, but there was a tree stump in the grass, and as I turned out, it jacked one side of the trailer off the ground, and of course my drive wheels. Stuck across the road, with traffic queuing , I had to unload, drive off, and then reloaded. I never did it again.

Well I know what really happened to the guy in the field. As you say you can go for miles trying to turn around and as he is an avid watcher of your channel and you were in exactly the same position a while back decided to turn in that field rather than do your thing of turning on a junction and wiping out a passing pick up. If you need anything else explaining I'm always happy to help. Lucky for me when I have made such mistakes myself or at the behest of others there were no cameras to capture the embarrassment, in fact when I first started making such mistakes I don't think cameras had been invented! Yes I am that old. All the best Tom. Oh almost forgot my thoughts on this type of video, you seemed to go on and on about some lorry in a field!

Hypothetically I've never looked at a narrow road and thought that should be ok , to find 3/4 mile further down a large blue sign saying unsuitable for HGV's . Then hypothetically asking a resident to move his car so I can continue trimming bushes to get out at the far end as turning left onto the main road was not an option . It's not the mistake that's the problem it's recovering and learning from it . Great Vlog
