The Pokemon Company International announced the official rules for the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet VGC 2025 Championship Series and these new rules are a PROBLEM... here are my thoughts.

What are your thoughts regarding the changes to the 2025 VGC circuit?

I also hope that they change back to a CP Threshhold, but yeah a lot of great things to tournament structure especially with the new top cut. They might overcorrect a bit right now bc VGC grew so massively but i think we will get back to more invites atleast in the 2026 season!

I hope we see changes sooner than later, especially with them addressing it on Twitter as well as the fact we have 2 months before any big tournaments start. Plenty of time to make adjustments

Thank you for covering this kneeckoh im far from being that competitive ready so this doesn't personally affect me next year aint gonna be my live comp year for sure, but if i was good enough i couldnt by any means this doesn't seem viable for anyone unless they have made it good enough to fully live off Pokemon playing because that kind of travel is unobtainable for people who have careers or actual jobs and have responsibilities outside of gaming. I have to wait til im out of military anyway but even when i was a civilian i wouldnt be able to travel to this extent funds and job security is necessary i dont really understand this "format" aside from pokemon company being overly greedy i hope they dont keep this after 2025 because I'll never be able to try competing on a higher level but all in all you did a very good job covering all of this and you do great content for the community. Its a shame to hear you wont be able to push for worlds i wouldve rooted for you. I know that doesn't affect your potential win rate but i would've cheered you on 100%

Glad you enjoyed the video! Yeah it is disappointing that the worlds dream seems farther out of reach than ever, but gonna still hit some regionals up this coming season

Every competitive community has had a monetary barrier, sponsors are a wonderful thing to help alleviate cost

I played a lot of VGC in gen 5 and 6 and recently got back to it. I was really looking forward to next season as the 500 points is something you can aim for like you mentioned, however I'm feeling very discouraged with this change as like many people I just don't have the time to attend 6+ events. This format really benefits people who are well off and or play full time, and completely take away the chance for underdogs to compete at the highest level. It's great that they are aiming for structure and planing, but for new/returning players this is terrible.

They are basically punishing the community for getting better. If they made all of these changes with the top cut, Regional CP payout, didnt bump up the IC CP payout and local BFLs then they couldve just raised the CP bar to 700 and called it a day. It took me 7 years to hit the CP bar at 500 because my area finally got locals so i didnt have to go to 7 Regionals and 2 ICs with barely any practice due to my job so you cant say its just easy to obtain an invite. Its ridiculous to make theze changes when the cash payout for worlds is 30k for Masters VGC. If the top prize was 250k-1 mil id understand but for 30k? Lmao what a joke

the question is how many people do you want to go worlds? if you only need 500 points to go world and youcan travel and go to every event you could easily farm 500 points and with more people getting in to VCG you could end up with 500,600 1000 players attending worlds. with this limit it's guarented to be 220 players which stream lines the event.

Only 211 went from us/Canada this year for worlds with the 500 point bar. I think you’re over estimating a bit

@@Sakura_Sakamoto so say they had a similar number, we are up to 400ish players. throw in the other regions and we are looking at around 600ish.

@@KneeckohGaming thats point I was making that worlds could end up being easily 500 to 600 people and with more people coming in to the scene maybe even a thousand I might have worded my sentence badly I wasn't trying to millions of people would be going to worlds but making it a guarnenteed 220 people will make the event easier to organise and manage because the same limits ar on the tcg and go. this means instead of there being 1000 + people going to the same venue there will be around 700 people for the three games.

You have to be good enough to get points at events. You can't just show up and expect to get CP

The amount of players that actually think they were ever gonna make it to worlds even before the change who are crying about this is hella funny

Youre failing to see the point. With a CP bar, there is an obtainable goal. If you hit your points needed, you can quit playing and traveling. With the way the BFL’s are set up, you need to keep going and playing to stay relevant in standings. Lower the BFL’s on Regionals and IC’s and that comes less of an issue

You say that, but you act as if you didn’t know that the number of these players making it to Worlds has been increasing in the past 2-3 years. Either that or you are just a pathetic person who sees yourself as not good enough to attend Regionals and make it to Worlds, so it results in you putting on a facade and make a mockery of the “crying” of the player base.

@@basedjiren3889 doesn’t matter, the changes are gonna go through wether y’all like them or not. Maybe it’ll change the following year if y’all cry hard enough to Gamefreak/Nintendo
