I would have used it on a very dry/clean sound to really see what it's doing. That loop is kinda drippy to begin with. That being said, this kinda thing is basically like microwave dinners. They get you a quick meal, it's usually just ok and in the end you never really learn how to cook.

It's definitely a scam. The ad is clearly deceptive and geared toward people who don't know anything. "I just made a banger in two seconds." No, the track was already written. You just added an effect to what sounded like a general midi preset. That's like putting salt on potatoes and claiming you're a five star chef. Also "industry standard filters." Okay, so there are "industry standard filters" and "non-industry standard filters"? "Quadratic Reconstruction" What the fuck does that even mean? It doesn't mean anything.

I appreciate your honest, dare I say skeptical take on reviewing plugins... Showing us what you can and can't do and how is a nice idea. I didn't really get that concept when I watched the knock video but seeing you did it here too I understand it's a way to explain how good/special the plugin is..... You nailed it on this one as something geared towards beginners. When I first started making beats, the drip plugin had just came out and with the targeted nonstop advertising a la unison I thought "this is something I absolutely must have!". Got it, and thought it was cool but didn't learn anything from it and overall I wish I had taken the time to just understand sound design or invested in a plugin that didn't give fake names for generic processing actions.... subbed!

Got it for around 20 bucks on Black Friday. The only reason/ use for me is simply inspiration. Just like you I didn't use chorus that often before. So I'd open up any synth I put on drip and make like.. two clicks ;) or so and it sounds "good enough" for me to get inspired and thrive of the sound. This is what I think it's really good for. Ofc you could do that with any stock plugin but If you have an Idea in your head you just wanna put it into the DAW. After that.. I sometimes get rid of it completely and just recreate certain things I liked from the preset. So if you just wanna sit down get your Idea into the DAW without going through all kinds of synths and presets. It does the job. Not necessarily more.. but also not less.

There should be some regulation on software that states you have to explain the technical functions of a feature if it’s named something that’s not accurate to what it actually does. For instance if you labeled something heat you would have to explain what it actually does and what it’s technical name is. There should also be some kind of rating system like a certain type of certification that developers can apply for that as long as their plug-in meets those criteria it gets a special stamp?? Feel like there’s a lot of sleazy stuff going on in The Producer world and when it comes to purchasing software consumers should have more information and protection.

As an alternative you could always get cymatics origin. It does your wobble your low fi , your chorus . And it's free

FX chain with free and/or stock plugins and...done! Even with RC-20 you can just chain those same FX modules in your DAW for free.

Tbf the same thing goes for the Dada Life stuff. Granted Sausage Fattener actually sounds fantastic and drip is a bit weak, but there’s nothing actually fundamentally wrong with a plugin just being a “more betterer” knob.

From what I can gather, Drip is equal parts a shortcut to mixing melodies and a shortcut to growing your music production youtube page.

i appreciate the point that beginners should learn how to use their sound manipulation tools independently, but i disagree that it’s a bad plugin. so much time making music is spent just clicking on shit on a computer screen, it’s nice to have something like drip that can help expedite the process and keep the creative momentum flowing

Thought I'd give the plugin a go cus I'm lazy The first thing that jumped out at me was the fact that there's no tempo sync to the delay, you're just stuck there listening trying to establish the appropriate ms value (which you can't even type in) And also a lock button on the overall percentage knob would be nice when auditioning presets as they are beyond useless at 100% Got a refund haha

Yes, let’s lament the use of preset fx but let’s laud Captain Chords. If you want to target a tired Ad, try that. How about this, use what you need to get your work done. If you take a hour to make the chain, great - if you pull up a preset, also great. Maybe in the meantime, explore taking the effort to learn music instead of importing chords, or drawing notes in. That might be as valuable (please read sarcasm here) as learning about saturation.

To all these producers in your comment section are hating on the plugin because of what its for.. This plugin is actually very simple (in a very good way). Yes you can add all of your own effects. Yes you can live without this plugin. But the reason why I love this plugin so much, is just because of its convenience. The whole "2 clicks and its perfect" thing, is actually somewhat true. You're not paying for some spectacular, revolutionary ground breaking plugin when you buy drip. Its literally just buying yourself an enhanced workflow 💯 i dont use it much personally because i like to have full control over my sound instead of a few knobs, but i can definitely make use of it.

"pitch wobble" in logic find the "spreader" stock plugin and if it's not enough for you you can buy a third party one. also using "tape delay" stock plugin you can find some modulations even if you pull the delay to zero. (talking off the top of my head here so your experience may vary slightly but yeh)

Get this and Thickify and you'll be on fire.
