that Chord at 0:43 is incredible. Wish they wouldn't have cut this

What I don't get it why they cut this. It's so short is doesn't hurt anything. Plus, that line-and the way it's sung are pure gold.

Jangobadass I assume they cut it because it might be taken as insulting or disrespectful to African-American culture.

Do you think Mel Brooks really cares?

What Jango said. Traditionally, Cinema has always been less risque than the theatre

The fact they cut out the only Black person in the show from both the movie and movie soundtrack is infuriating

Not to mention rude too, idc what sort of view other people saw this, but im sure the people who supposed have lines in a movie only to be cut is rather heart breaking, the man sang n did his part well too, it annoys me cus his presence wouldve add quality to the song

Why was this a deleted scene? That man has a gorgeous voice

I want them to re-release the producers with all deleted scenes, first The King of Broadway, and this? Shame

Considering the time the musical takes place in, Mr. Marx might not be a racist, especially if that guy is one of the best at the job in the office.

Why tho, this isnt even racist, as a working man i know for a fact everyone can relate to the exhaustion of accountancy it transends stereotype, everyone has felt over worked at some point. It wouldve been gold moment to listen to it just like in the musical

I think a lot of it has to be within context of the show and what the movie represents as a whole. Both you and I know that this is a direct reference from Showboat which is an otherwise popular musical in the musical theater canon, however another thing we need to regard for is how this joke will be received. Out of context, it can read very differently for those who aren’t too familiar with inside jokes. There’s a reason why this movie didn’t do too hot in theaters despite the fact that it was definitely a fantastic film. It didn’t resonate with the audience. But at least we’ll always have the scene to come back to.
