I'm 65-years old. I walk every day. If I take Beta Alanine an hour before I walk, I can go farther with less fatigue. I really like it. I don't eat meat every day and when I do eat meat, I don't eat a lot of it. It's not a pride thing, it's a cost thing. I eat one meal a day (OMAD) and so I have a short feeding period. I take Beta Alanine without food but I'm going to take a small dose with my meal in the future. It seems to work really well.

Taking baking soda in general is a very bad idea. It may work as a buffer with beta alanine but at what cost? Our stomach acid levels naturally decrease with age and baking soda can damage the stomach's natural balance very quickly. Stomach acid is required in the right amounts and the right ph(1-3) in order to absorb the most nutrients from our foods. Baking soda will raise stomach ph making to dangerous levels and help create a home for nasty gut microbes such as h-pylori. Bad gut bacteria that will damage your intestinal lining thrives in a less acidic environment.
@DravenPike
@DravenPike 5 жыл бұрын
P.S. Apple cider vinegar 1-2 Tbs a couple times a day is great for keeping the stomach's gastric juices acidic. This will help with common digestive issues created by the modern diet.

With 4-6g a day for a 64% increase of muscle carnosine levels after a month or 80% increase after 10 weeks and a 1.1 -1.2g dose a day to keep levels topped off after, I wonder if the studies done on performance followed this protocol waiting until the loading phase was done to see if performance increased rather than just seeing if it did during the beginning stages of supplementation?
@KP-fy5bf
@KP-fy5bf 4 жыл бұрын
I agree it would seem rather strange to do the study before the beta alinine even absorbed into the muscles. If they did do the study after the loading phase then the use of beta alanine for any performance enhancement seems questionable.

I am wondering if this substance is a trade off between performance and long term strength building. If this substance increases buffering then does that reduce muscle damage from a workout? If it reduces muscle damage from a workout, then could it reduce he muscle's build-up-stronger response to the workout?

The first time I took beta alanine the parasthesia effect was potent, I could feel tingles all over my body, my ears my fingers, everything tingled. But its not painful, just a bit unusual., After taking it for months, that effect is very minimal now, I get a tiny bit of tingle and it's barely noticeable and sometimes with food non-existent

everyone's biochem is a lil diff in how substances effect them. for example jerry u said the research shows that about 3% at best makes it into muscle. i don't know if more than that makes it into my muscles or maybe that just that 3% has a significant effect in my training. i respond very well to beta Alanine and see drastic effect in increased volume/work capacity in the gym. 2 grms about 2 or 3 times a day

@StrengthScholar0
@StrengthScholar0 Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if you ever gotten an answer to this but yes it's basically completely useless to only take it in your pre-workout. It's added into the pre-workout as a placebo because when you feel your face tingling and your asshole itching "it must be working". In reality that tingling effect is only paresthesia that is a benign side effect of ingesting beta alanine with no benefit or detriment to exercise performance.
