We live in the age of the ‘soft masculine’. To see this, all we have to do is people watch for a few minutes when we’re public to see most men would likely be incapable of defending themselves or their loved ones if they were tested.
For years now, radical feminists have raised their loud and hostile voices against the warrior energy inside each man in order to banish it.
But as the psychoanalysts warned us, anything we repress will lurk underground and will manifest as physical or emotional violence in one way or another.
The young men stabbing each other in London, school shooters, volatile coworkers, boisterous teens and the skinny mummy’s boys all share one thing; immature warrior energy.
The warrior archetype lies dormant in each man. And we can see this with the rise of sports like MMA, drill music with its warlike lyrics and activities such as air soft and paintball.
But the warrior archetype isn’t always about fighting.
So what is the warrior archetype?

Recently I’ve had an accident in my family and my mom almost died, since then I’ve felt the warrior spirit swell in me so much, one thing I’ve come to learn about myself is aggression is my outlet, for years I just repressed my emotions and have been caught in depression and doubt, full of regrets, apathy and fragmented memories, I was diagnosed with cptsd about a week or so ago and it feels like it explains much, now I’m trying to learn positive coping mechanisms and acquire proper outlets for my aggression, I’ve been stuck as a shadow warrior (something I didn’t know existed) for so long and now I wish to hone the warrior in and become a mature true one, it’s a battle every day but it’s either I fight to destroy the negativity within me or I let it consume me and fall back into my old vices, I do not want to be that victim ever again, thank you sir for the video and god bless you.

5:56 I'd say non-masculine or immature is a bit better term for this than feminine. I know, it's a detail, but still, the fact there are men who are feminine in the way they act and present themselves yet lack no maturity or mental strength, not to mention literal women that are capable of the same, shouldn't be forgotten here.

Hi Lewis, as I was born with a disability I am unfortunately unable to do martial arts or any form of combat. I tried Taekwondo and fencing in the past, but was not really capable of getting much progress. I was invited to try my hands on buhurt (medieval armored combat) but I am still hesitant that I might injure myself. But as you said in your video I will try and do this one thing, even if I have to overcome myself. I also like to recommend the Daily Laws by Robert Greene, which dives deep in the topic of "Mastery" - in every form. I also found the Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday and the Daily Pressfield by Stephen Pressfield very helpful in guiding my way to my purpose. It might help someone in this community as well.

I'm usually all on board with the takes of your videos but I find myself disagreeing with your viewpoint in this one. Certainly, I think it's important to know how to defend oneself and be able to navigate dangerous situations. However, this is a slippery slope and I think this video romanticizes a warrior archetype too much. You touch on radical feminist movements trying to banish warrior energy in men but you seem to gloss over why these movements arise in the first place. Aggression and control from men, which are also hallmarks of a warrior historically and culturally speaking. Not to say I always agree with these movements and the stances of certain feminists but these things don't occur out of a vacuum. During wars, women have always suffered just as much if not more than warriors. Speaking of which, your romanticization of the samurai seems misguided considering they were particularly brutal towards civilians and anyone they were allowed to abuse. Now I will say you attempt to address some of this by including this shadow warrior archetype but a warrior and shadow warrior are really one in the same. You cannot engage in violence without tapping into the darker side of human nature, at least not frequently. To fight, even in defense, you must stop thinking of your opponent as a human. And that does not lend towards tenderness, love, or empathy. Often times it corrupts, leaving one cold and tortured from their actions. I'm not saying that doing that isn't necessary, there are times in life where it is but to frame it as something to aspire to feels out of character for this channel. Still like the channel, I would just advise caution for anyone watching this video when applying these things to real situations, on the street or otherwise. When you're a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

Interesting take. I’m curious why you think defending yourself or your loved ones would make yourself blind to the aggressor’s human experience. I don’t think the warrior he described is bloodthirsty, rather one who knows when to utilize his strength. There is a season for everything. God bless.

Hi mate. Thanks for sharing as I always appreciate counter arguments to my points and these are some great ones. Truthfully, this was a more "controversial" video which most people won't agree with. It's essentially a full summary of the "warrior archetype" chapter in a book called King Warrior Magician & Lover. To be clear, I'm not advocating men adopt a blind violence which seeks to destroy everything in their path. I wanted to communicate the importance of disciplining the inner tendencies we all share towards aggression and destruction. I did make the point at the beginning of the video the warrior archetype isn't always about fighting, then went onto explain a warrior is a master of his mental faculties and physicality in service of a higher spiritual purpose. Later in the video I then highlighted the warrior alone is something to be avoided at all costs (as you highlighted, the shadow warrior). You mentioned the shadow warrior and the warrior are the same thing. And this couldn't be further than the truth. The warrior "in his fullness" represents the generative aspect of the man who seeks to serve his purpose and those he's loyal to and loves. The shadow warrior, either the sadist or the masochist, seeks to destroy everything in his path for his own benefit - completely at the expense of others. Also, I mentioned the warrior alone is something to be avoided at ALL costs. Because without a connection to the king or the lover in particular, the warrior operates isolated from the world, outside the realms of sensitivity and compassion. In summary, hopefully this clarifies some things and ultimately if you misinterpreted anything that's my responsibility for not explaining things in a clearer manner. Thanks for sharing.

@@NewelOfKnowledge Hey man, I appreciate the reply. I see where you're coming from and definitely picked up on wanting to apply the archetype to all aspects of life. Hey, @Newel of Knowledge ! Great video! I've been doing Kickboxing and Boxing for the past 2 years and despite my technique being better than most of the guys I train with, I have a huge problem at sparring. I'm afraid to hurt them. Like, I really don't want to hurt them. And this leads to me being mostly on the defensive and barely attacking. The only time I can partially lose this fear is when my opponent spars really hard. Any tips on how to remove this mental block? Thanks!
@NewelOfKnowledge
@NewelOfKnowledge Ай бұрын
Brother, I experienced this EXACT problem when I started boxing. In my first 2 years I hated sparring because I never wanted to take it seriously. What I'd say is this: get into the habit of briefly outlining the intensity of the spar with your sparing partner before you begin. For example, let them know "ok, let's not talk and go hard ok?" or "just a light spar, right?". Completely up to you. But understand, you need to push yourself out of your fear of hurting the other person to not only bring out the best in yourself but in them as well - BUT always always always make sure you both agree on the intensity. And NEVER teach while sparring. When you're sparring, you're sparring, save talking for after. Hope this helps mate, you got this.

I really enjoy your content newel, but sometimes I’m a bit put off by your differentiation between the masculine and the feminine. From my experience, the concepts of masculine and feminine simply correlate with the ideas of “strong” and “weak” respectively. Often times when you ask a man what it means to be masculine, he’ll tell you things like confidence, strength, leadership. But when you ask the same man about femininity, he’ll say submissiveness, gentleness, and petiete. In my opinion, the concept of feminine and masculine is outdated. I think that all people should strive to be decisive, strong, and confident leaders. We can seperate these concepts but I think to correlate strength with masculinity is wrong. Women can be strong, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that they are women. I believe men and women can learn from what you’re saying, and I think you constantly specifying your male audience could draw women away from your content where they themselves would have much to take away from. But I have to say I’ve been a big fan for a while, I just wanted to share my criticisms for what otherwise is an excellent channel

Was really enjoying the content, but got severely disappointed when you blame “radical feminists” for the rise of what you call the feminine man. There are several ways to pratice masculinity! The only one I think is invalid is a toxic one, which represses the other forms of masculinity. You looked a lot more knowledgeable than that, so I’m sad to see those kinds of comments. Don’t mean to attack at all, I would enjoy to know what you think about this. Do you understand my point?

@TmasterinoYT
@TmasterinoYT 26 күн бұрын
@@NewelOfKnowledge The point I’m trying to get across is that the rise of the feminine man is not inherently bad. In fact, I believe our society is still too masculine. There are several ways to practise masculinity and the only one I have a problem with is a toxic one that excludes all others. The only real problem I see is that society seems to be polarizing men. The pressure to be masculine and strong is so much that men either turn into an insecure hyper masculine persona, or become a very feminine man to push back against it. I just promote respecting all the forms of masculinity and removing all the pressure society puts on men to be masculine (which is what a lot of feminists try to do), so that everyone is masculine in their own healthy way. You understand what I mean? What do you think?
