Lol I have adhd and I do all of these accidentally all the time. I have to be extremely conscious of these, in order to not do them and I’ve gotten way better results when I do… and my friend taught me about matching body language and tone of voice, and while it may seem manipulative, it ties in with what you’re saying in this video and when you mirror someone, you act like they act, and fully hear them out, they feel completely and utterly heard and understood by you. And that is crux of getting someone to like you and respect you… I always use tips like this to get ahead cause I really struggle with social interactions, and I’ve killed interviews that I should’ve been nervous on by using these techniques. You really have to read the room, but also listen to your gut. Sometimes it isn’t always about making someone like you or respect you. Sometimes they have to earn YOUR respect and in that case, interactions can become better because they’re mutual. Respect from both parties is the best feeling. That’s how you know you’re in a good place in life. When you’ve succeeded in making someone you like, like you. And eventually, the conversation WILL turn to you and they will learn more about you.

Your videos are truly helpful and target the right topics. However, please refrain from using unusual words and stick to a speech that is as simple as possible, i struggle to watch most of your videos because i simply require more mental energy to understand what you are saying When you could have structured your words in a simpler manner such that someone could understand it with less mental energy and use that energy to actually understand and comprehend what you are saying and applying it in their head by creating scenarios. That's what i do with all the videos i watch but can't do it with yours. Hope you take the feedback Edit:- More addition to the above You speak like someone would write in a book, now that could work in books and writing however it does work while speaking like at 6:32 you used the word "etymology" how much percentage of the english speaking population actually know the word? Quite low + It also seems like you trying hard to sound smart, even though you are😂 however it gives a less inviting vibes and is like only meant for smart people

It's really concerning how I haven't noticed that my behaviour unknowingly followed some of these steps by the book, and yet I'm quick to notice some of these flaws between some of my friends, sounds really hypocritical if you ask me. I'll try to do better, progress may be slow, but it's better than nothin'

Thank you for the examples, they were super important for me to understand how and where to use assertiveness. Some of those triggered memories of past conversations that have happened around me or that I participated in. I felt so helpless whenever these happened because it's always the same conversations over and over again and they never lead anywhere. Everybody just gets defensive and acts selfishly and nothing changes and I just do not know what to do differently. This video explained so much and gave me hope.

I couldn't watch the video last night. So it is weekend and I was sleeping in the morning because I spent the whole night out with my gf but my roommate slept. Early in the morning the roommate started watching Tiktok on full volume but I have just arrived and slept. It really annoyed my sleep, how I asserted on him was to annoy him back. Instead of shouting at him I started signing loudly because I know he hates my voice. I did it until he realized what I'm doing and grabbed his earbuds 😂😂 Now as I've watched the video, I'll assert better next time. OMFG 😂

When you take such time and care in explaining things I feel fortunate to be listening because I came across your channel through luck. I really love the use of "when you, I feel, because" in a positive context. I think that has huge potential for others to feel seen for what they do.

I watched your videos… however I find all the advice difficult to practice… is it because I’m a narcissist? All of these tips seems like a mask I put on to make people like me… but I can’t realistically put on a facade every day without feeling like I’m not truly speaking my mind

This sounds like non violent communication. To be assertive without the threat of violence leaves the door open for children to run over you. I think you’re assuming this between two mature adults talking. That sounds like work and a paycheck.

How am I supposed to make this work? I feel like I cannot look a person in the eye unless I am calm or mid conversation. I deal with executive dysfunction and while I have tried to do these things in the past it continued to be hard. The emotional regulation issues that come with it and slow processing challenges me heavily and I feel like there is a piece missing that I can’t figure out. Why does it feel like I can’t be normal and do this despite wanting to. Despite all my effort and exhaustion from expending the effort?

There are eye contact trainers here in KZfaq. It’s just videos of beautiful people with different emotions so you can reflect on them. Try those, maybe it will help. If not that, maybe start IRL with someone you don’t know, like a cashier or waiter. You’ll be a pro in no time.

I am pausing the video halfway through to mention Leo (Lev) Tolstoy's book "(My) Confession", as a parallel to what Lewis is pointing out as a meaningless life or searching for purpose. Reading through the pages you can really feel (but probably won't understand) how an erudite man would really struggle to find the meaning for his life. Okay, he has done due diligence to the society from this era, but still searching and trying to find what is the real meaning of his existence. Now that I've watched to the whole video, I can really point out that the sentence, written on the cover of the book published in Bulgaria, really do puts things in perspective - (paraphrasing for english speakers) "If a man choses to live, he still have something to believe in". Thank you, Lewis, for bringing so much quality on the table. I really like that you present your personal thoughts and opinions in these videos. Your channel is a true gem amongst a s*ithole of idiotic psychological abyss.
