Hey guys, on the forge upgrade it says you can upgrade only one heavy unit at a time. I was looking for reminder/rules text in yellow which is typical and didn't see it in blue at the top. For not instantly understanding this perfectly I am a failure as a human being and it will keep me awake for the remainder of my days. Please don't cancel me. Once per week is enough.

Probably my favorite part of this mod is the lack of upgrades. You don't have to research anything on the tech structures, and you don't have to get weapons/armor upgrades, instead you have only a singular mechanic, the "protocol synchronization", turning your units into elite versions. It's very streamlined.

I think something people forget is that it is our job to observe. We see everything because that's why we're here, to watch. You, on the other hand, have to be entertaining, beat the mission, and try to showcase the hard work of the mod maker all at the same time, on top of the other things happening in your life. You're doing a fantastic job, Grant! Seeing a new video from the archives channel is the best part of my morning.

That should be the next tier if you upgrade the ombudsmen again. It turns them into veteran retired old ladies that are completely immune to damage.

If you upgrade an Ombudsman with Protocol Synchronization it should turn to an old lady. Would totally spend the gas to have an army of old ladies against the Hybrid!

I just noticed that the probes even have 10 more hps than the basic probe. Pulling the boys is going to be all that much better.

I think there should be a pop up after the first heavy unit, to remind you about the upgrade limitation. You can go through half the campaign, never come up, and sudently it doesnt work. Or make the distinction somewhere on what units are heavy, some when it comes up you can link it to the other instance where that keyword has maybe appeared.

The ombudsman thing reminds me of an interaction I had while trying to learn Tagalog. I had asked the native speaker helping me what "ulam" is and he looked it up and the rather old dictionary we hd to work with said "viands". That didn’t help. He was like "whaddya mean you don't know what that means, it's an English word isn't it?" "Sure, but I've only ever read it in books from the 1800s, I've never even heard it pronounced!" After much arguing the definition of "ulam" I settled with is "stuff you eat with rice/the main course". I still use it in that way even if the rest of the sentence is in English because I'll be damned if I ever say "viands" without clearly audible quotations.

Ombudsman is actually a Swedish word but sometimes sees international use. It's kind of fitting though because an ombudsman works against corruption, which is basically what you're doing! Purifying!

Remember the reinforcement drop for 400 minerals. If the protocol synchronization only works on 1 colossus and other tier 3 units then upgrading zealots/stalker may be a way to use that gas effectively. It doesn't matter if they die, but maybe you consciously avoided them because they may be too good. Hope you get better, sounded a bit down today.

The disruptor seems cool, but the secondary effect seems pretty useless against non-structures. Most things were either dead already or moving closer to get into their own range by the time it went off. The upgraded Colossus seems to actually track targets with that massive-range orbital blast effect, which makes me wonder just how godawful it would be to play against if you didn't have your own equivalently-OP tools. When the colossus upgrade thing happened, I watched Grant not notice the line explaining it and wondered how many people were going to mindlessly spam out some variation on 'you missed the line'. I was glad to see he worked it out later in the video, but when I scrolled down to the comments not only were something like a full half of them just made for the error, there was also at least one passive-aggressive ass going "Here's where I would mention the error but[...]" in that classic move everyone's seen before and nobody actually believes is anything other than doubling up on being a dick.

After the video where ombudsmen first appeared, I looked it up, too, as I had never heard of an ombudsman, either. ... And I live in one of the five states that has an ombudsman. There's also a few federal offices that have an ombudsman, though the IRS changed the name of it's ombudsman office so I'm not sure if that one still counts. Point is: There are only a few ombudsmen in America, and they're not exactly well-known.

I actually like grabbing shield upgrades early. They affect everything ground, air, workers AND even buildings so you get a lot out of it.

The laser Sound of the Upgradet Collosus is nice it remindes me of the Reaperlaser from Masseffect.

I too completely forgot to read the blue text at the top of the forge upgrade description and had to rewatch episode 1 where it was mentioned once as part of the larger context of reading the extremely lenghty description of the upgrade when the entire episode was about learning a vast amount of new things about new units whilst trying to interpret google translated Chinese. It's lucky that was avaliable, otherwise i would have just assumed that the very finnicky ability was just being finnicky and not upgrading the units because of some completely unintuitive misalignment of the unit pile and upgrade radius.

I think you should give the Disruptors another shot against Protoss, maybe specifically Rak'Shir because there's a lot of static defense on that mission and they seem to be exceptionally good at killing Photon Cannons specifically (2 Disruptors kill a Photon Cannon) and also the gimmick of that mission is the enemy keeps clumping up.

it kind of makes sense that you can only upgrade one per upgrade purchase since you'd be able to have several uber colossus super early and just steamroll the mission

The colossi are so good once upgraded that i just settled with 6 fully upgraded ones, some energizers and legionnaires and i think i just A moved my way to victory.

The forge does not have a central cooldown so you can do multiple upgrades with multiple forges

The tooltip of the upgrade ability says "Upgrade basic Purifier units and up to one heavy purifier unit...". I don't mean to be that guy, but it says it right there, but I get that it can be easy to miss things in a wall of text. It also doesn't say anywhere that the colossus equivalent is a heavy purifier unit, but that could be me missing the text elsewhere.
