Remember kids dont do drugs. This is the highest hauling ship in the game that can land at a small space station getting the best deals. The cheapest place to buy Python is Li Yong Rui powerplay space. Save credits play better.

The Python is a swiss army knife. Its the ship you get when you want to do everything. If I had to sell all my other ships and keep one, it would be the Python.

Love your video, though I disagree with your closing statement, it is an amazing ship, yes for the late game player it's not useful, but for the one starting out it's amazing, you said youd rather haul in an Anaconda and fight in a Krait, but that's because you have enough money to outfit both of those ships, what if you dont? You start out with a Python, you can do it all and earn enough money to specialize your fleet and then the Python becomes a paperweight. I haul and mine in a Cutter. I fight in a Corvette. I explore/do errands like engineering and materials in an Anaconda I deepcore in a Python until I find something better, that's all I use my Python for now, I used to use it for everything, until I got better ships for each job. The Python got me my fleet, if anything I feel like that's its role. Oh yeah, next ship? The eagle, imperial eagle or Vulture.

HERESY! .. PYTHON IS LIFE + better than kraits anyhow

A while ago I bought a krait, and through a series of bad decisions, was unable to pay the insurance. After coming back I've bought the Python instead, and could not be happier with it, I've never felt safer in a fight with an agile ship.

I've got mine set up as a deep core miner. Abrasion blaster and seismic charge launcher in the medium hard points to crack asteroids. 192 cargo space to store all those shiny void opals and low temperature diamonds... and 3 large hard points to tell pirates where they can shove their demands. ;) I love my Python. In it I can transport >300 million in cargo... with a smile.

I finally bought my Python the other night. And for someone who loves bouncing around from combat and trading roles, this thing is perfect and it doesn't break the bank. I named mine The Red Shadow and she's going to aid me in getting my ticket punched to Jameson Memorial.

I've build mine as my first real mining ship. It's a lot of fun in that regard and a hold full of void opals is a really nice cash-in.

I've always thought of the Python as a large ship in a medium ship's body.

The Python is, by far, my most flown ship with the Conda right behind. After flying around in the Krait though... Gotta say I still love my Python. You never forget your first love. Great video, man !

The Python is the ultimate smuggler's machine. Its handling, cargo capacity, and ability to land on platforms makes it king in my mind for that kind of work. So--still very much a viable machine.

A tad disingenuous in my opinion. It's been stated in the comments here already and I'll say it again; the Python is single handedly the king of Background Simulation work or just general mission running and even material collection for engineering. No other ship in the game offers the survivability and multi-mission capability of a Python while being able to also land on medium pads. The only other ship that comes close is the Cobra Mk IV but even with engineering that ship makes the Python look like a race car. The Python certainly has its flaws, that is for certain but if your play style is to fly one ship and you don't like refitting often; you can't find better versatility than a Python in this pilots opinion.

I started out in elite 3 months ago and find myself relistening to your videos while traveling to think about my ship collection. Love it and thank you for so poetically and honestly describing ships. So yeah, glad I invested in Krait mk 2 and anaconda. Good balance there.

I loved my Python it's stylish and functional, then I got an Anaconda for cargo a Krait for general purpose and a challenger for combat and I no longer needed my Python. But look at how many ships it took to fill the roll, Pythons are awesome ships for the commander who's just starting out. Can you review the Keelback, don't know why but I just love the look of it, I use mine as a mining ship and it's made me more credits than all my other ships put together. Congratulations on the 1000 subs.

My Python has become my deep core mining vessel. Two medium hard points for the seismic charge launcher and abrasion blaster, three large for weapons. Enough room for 192t of cargo with all the equipment I need to find, collect and refine. It's nimble, tough and roomy with the bite to deter pirates. I guess what I'm trying to say is that mining is role I feel this ship was born for. Sure, I could use a Krait Mk.II, but when I'm already using the Krait Phantom as my exploration vessel it makes a nice change of scenery when switching roles.

Python is the BEST core miner - that's why I own it; despite owning a phantom, anaconda and cutter which you suggest might invalidate it's need.

I'm really enjoying your videos, I like how you give a balanced review of the good and bad points of each ship, and do it in an entertaining way. I'd love to see a review about the Cutter, which seems like a ship with a lot of limits, but I love it anyway.

When I started playing E:D years ago, the Python was my dream ship almost entirely because of how it looks. The green and gray plus the sleek yet angular hull drew me in. After getting it, I did some hauling and light combat before I got bored of E:D. Now I've gotten back into the game and decided not have a one-size-fits-all with my Python, but build a fleet like many do. For now the Python is sitting pretty in a hangar, but I know I will find a reason to bust it out again some day (for fighting or hauling or smuggling or bounty hunting or who knows what). I just think it's too pretty and I love how it can do so many things, even if it's not the best at any particular thing--that's the point of a multipurpose ship anyway. For someone like me who isn't a min/maxer, the Python is a very loveable ship, whether you use it for just one thing or it really is your jack of all trades.

I have 3 of them. One for mining, one for Passengers in Ribino, and one for rescue missions from bases being attacked by Thargoids. I never do combat in it. I use the FDL and Corvette for that. Keep up the good work! I enjoy your take on the different ships. I'm always looking for a new ship build!

Two words... core mining. Plenty of power, decent laden range, maneuverable and small enough for the tight spots, all the slots for the necessary modules with lots of cargo space left over. All that and it fits on a medium pad.

i love how you described this thing, and i love the history behind it. its easily my favorite ship in elite. i dont use the krait bc i like to have my options open, if you mod it out correctly, you can do everything without having to switch out any of the optional internals. you can go from using it as trading vessel, to exploring, and then suddenly finding yourself in a duel against another commander, whos flying a fer de lance. most people would put their money on the fer de lance. but back when the meta was particle accelerator all the time (it was when i was playing) i used the python with a different loadout... double barrel frags, and i cant recall ever losing against a fer de lance using PA's in a 1v1 fight. whenever i see an imperial clipper or a federal assault ship flying around (other cmdrs) i see it as easy pickings for me, but i cant seem to lose against them. i havent fought a krait mkII yet and quite frankly, i cant bring myself to get back into the game to give it a try.

Like so many other’s, the King Python built my fleet. It’s even in combat and better at cargo, mining, passenger running etc. The only thing it doesn’t do exceptionally well is exploration. But a cheap DBX can take care of that.

I used the Python extensively when I was still making my up the Federation ranks and taking any mission I could get my hands on for experience, rep, materials and credits. Now that I'm an established Commander with a respectable bank account and fleet of ships at my disposal I find I don't have a place for it. I respect the Python but I too have ships I prefer to use for each of the various mission types. So while the Python is fantastic as your first "high dollar", top shelf medium capable of handling any task you set it too (with a little module swapping) there are ships capable of doing it better as a true specialist for any of those tasks.

I'm working my way through all of your ship videos and I'm loving them, I know I'm late to the party (just got the game a few months ago) but its great stuff!

I can only describe the Python as a stepping stone and a workhorse in one. It'll get you there, wherever you go, whatever you do.

The Python definitely still has a good niche role as a mission running ship. It can handle more cargo than the Krait and can land at the outpost stations where so many missions take you (unlike the Anaconda). It's a superb armed merchantmen. My "merchant" Python regularly massacres the pirate anacondas that try to interdict me during missions (for extra bounties and engineering materials). It's also a great choice (build slightly differently) for evacuating starports. For combat and core mining, I prefer the Krait Mk2 but honestly, the Python's not bad either. I consider both to be some of the best balanced ships in the game and own more than one of each. Like the Anaconda, the Python's got excellent flexibility.

When I first started in elite, before I realized I could look up guides on youtube...this was THE ship for me. It was my absolute goal to achieve ownership of a Python. When I saw one for the first time in a low Combat Zone, it honestly made me feel like a small fish staring at a predator. And now that I have one, I've never stopped loving it. And although the Anaconda is objectively the better ship...I just can't stop loving the Python.

Don't buy 1,,,buy 2. I did. Yeah i love my Conda and Vette, but Pythons are the workhorse of the Medium landing pad.

In all honesty, the one thing I use my Python for is completing trade CG's that require delivery at a medium landing platform. It's not a Lakon so I can't say I love it but it serves the purpose I need it to.

Hi, solo Elite Dangerous player here (and player of Elite since C64). I've been watching your vids with a nice cup of tea this evening (nice work and subbed btw) after clicking on your youtube channel after seeing it over on Down to Earth Astronomy (excellent channel). I've got to comment here because.. I love the Python! I'll tell you why.. I've earned oodels of cr's in the Python.. literally. At present i'm travelling back to the bubble in my Asp Explorer sitting on over 2.25 billion cr's and owner of every ship in the game (though most need outfitting and engineering) and the Python has earned me the bulk of my ships, equipment and cr's because of what it CAN do. My Python carries 160 tonnes and can land on medium sized landing zones which means I can run multiple delivery missions earning up to 14mil for one single mission in short jump ranges.. I found a little spot where I can earn billions this way and well, I did... and I did it all in my Python. Brilliant ship! "No one needs to fly one"? I wouldn't have been without one! Edit: I'll still use it when i'm in the bubble.

The python is my daily driver because it can do everything I'd want it to do without changing more than 1 or 2 modules. Haul 96 tons for a mission while still knocking down the 3 pirates the mission sends at you while still being fun to fly and kill in while being the best multirole ship ever. When you become an artist with a Swiss army knife, you are truly free.

Honestly... yes, I could get an Anaconda for my trading or mining, or a Clipper. *_But I don't WANT to._* For both those things, I have a Python fitted for the job. The hardpoints, being able to easily get 272 tons of cargo space out of it while still being medium-sized - I just really love my two Pythons. No way am I gonna trade those in for bigger ships.

I have mine set up as an armed cargo hauler with SRV. It has the firepower, shield, armour, jumprange and biggest cargo for doing any mission in the bubble. Just jumping around accepting stuff as i like, best ship!

Your home station claxon sounds! The station is gonna blow. You're sprinting for the docks to lift off, you can only save one ship, the rest are gonna burn with the station. If we ignore the monetary value of the big three I suspect most of us are lifting off in a Python.

I love that the game really focuses on player flying ability, rather than, 'this player has better equipment so they'll win every time'. Sure, a ship's equipment plays a major part, but in the end, a bad pilot will lose to a good pilot every time, regardless of ship or equipment. That's how these types of games should be.

I've had Kraits, FDLs, Condas, Cutters, Clippers, Gunships. I keep coming back to the the Python. 'Nuff said.

I can use the mk2 for this....anaconda for that....phantom for that too..... Here's the argument, what you failed to highlight on. The Python is not the very best at everything. It is just among the best at everything. That's the difference. Fastest? No. Most combat capable? No. Most cargo space? No. But it does the job well on every front, that's versatility a lot of ships don't have.

Please do one about the Imperial Corvette. I've been comparing it with the Anaconda (which I already have and very happy with), but I want to have that Corvette in my dock as well. It seems like the more appropriate tank, vs the explorer styled Anaconda.

I did use the Python A LOT! It did own me the money to buy and equip my Conda lol After doing everything with the conda for a while i wanted a agile bountyhunter with a fighter and got a krait and it is great. Python is now my deep core miner and with all the shit it got me through... passenger runs, first trys in mining, trading, shooting pirates buttoxes away... i still love to hop in just to fly around, it gives me some kind of nostalgia.

This video has made me want to pick up a Python, when I get to that point. If nothing else, just to have it as a backbone multipurpose workhorse for my fleet. ... but it also did get me to very strongly consider a Krait.
