I have been listening to just this on loop all day so far and I’ve got some thoughts Charlie’s lyrics: What people believed about Charlie (or the subject of the song) as he died. The positive things were what they said at his funeral. But the later half is what people thought of him in private. Sent to (a more biblically cruel) Hell for whatever menial reasons they had to dislike him. Not to mention two people singing it, The original (the other people), and Charlie (repeating what he wants people to see about him to hide what he was actually like.) Chonny’s lyrics: More accurate to his life. Not great, sure, but generally the average person’s life. His death was unexpected but not terribly surprising. Yes, he went to hell, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as expected. This is, in my opinion the Real version of what happened. Afton’s lyrics: What life felt like for Charlie, the subject. He was “good” he was “bad” he was just fucked up in the head at times. It was painful, yeah, repetitive, sure. But he lived it. All in all, life happened for him and he had his own things. (The consistent “I don’t want to die, please don’t let me die” throughout the song being his own thoughts and pleadings with whatever he thought would hear him) I really really like this mashup and you did an incredible job combining these!!!
