She was a bad parent to him since childhood. If she had given him some affection instead of shaking his hand after being away for months maybe he wouldn't need to look for maternal style love elsewhere. Also she shouldn't have pushed him to what was basically an arranged marriage, especially when she was free to choose her own spouse against the objections of others..

I give Margaret a pass. Edward VIII abdicated for Simpson and then whined incessantly about not having all the privilege. Charles was in line for King and all the trappings and responsibilies that goes with it. Both men were selfish as their positions were larger than their personal desires. Margaret was never going to be Queen and her being denied marrying Peter was based on the technicality of not marrying as long at the divorced spouse was alive. If Margaret had married Peter, it wouldn't have affected the royal ecosystem, nor line of succession. I think Elizabeth had little real sympathy for Charles as divorce was never a possibility for her and had to tolerate the boorish behavior portrayed by Philip in the early years of their marriage.

The royal circle is rather small compared to the rest of society. People fall in love with those whom they interact with, who are available to them in their circle.

He could’ve married her ugly ass 10 years before he parried Diana. He refused to give up his place in line to the throne, his title and his money. He chose to not marry her, then reunited the lives of his wife, his children and how many others.

Charles entered his marriage with bad intentions - never was going to work out. Charles and Diana had very little in common . Diana's family could have educated her better - A levels, University, Fine Arts course, love of the theatre and poetry...

Wrong. Charles and Diana simply didn't love each other and had nothing in common. It was never going to last. And Charles ins't "obsssed" with Camilla, the two have been in love for decades. True love, if you will. The marriage could have also lasted longer if Diana hadn't had a rotating door of affair partners.

They are people who own assets and also land. Land that is entailed to keep it out of the tax- man's grasp. Entire extended families live on those estates. Dickie Mountbatten (i.e. Charles' great-uncle as well as Prince Philip's uncle) encouraged Charles to be a playboy because he wanted his own granddaughter to marry Charles. Earlier uncle Dickie had managed to arrange for Prince Philip to have frequent interaction with the BRF (Geo. vi, Queen Eliz., Princess Eliz and Princess Margaret)

Most likely it was referencing the fictional estate of the character Charles Foster Kane in the movie "Citizen Kane," if she was making a pop culture reference.

I think the real culprit was uncle Dickie. He is the one who encouraged Charles to put off marriage rather than marrying young (like most of his peers) Dickie wanted to match up Charles with his own granddaughter (about the same age as Diana) Dickie had already engineered the match between HMTQ and Prince Philip

I wouldn’t say that I love him😂 but I consider him as a very underrated person. It’s sad that people still reduce him to this one big mistake he made more than forty years ago when he married an unsuitable girl. He is a clever, well educated person who has a lot of interesting things to say.

It was unfair of the family to prevent him from initially marrying Camilla, but he didn't have to drag down another woman into his unhappiness. He made a commitment to Diana and then he continued to flaunt his affair in front of everyone.

@esthergift8373 Oh stop. Charles made his own decisions. He chose to move into a home as close to Camilla as possible so he could see her easily and often. And he moved into this home with Diana while she was pregnant. Charles could have chosen to live elsewhere with Diana.

Well, just because you don't like it doesn't mean others can't. I don't approve of Charles' behavior but there's nothing wrong in hoping for a spouse who has interests more in line with your own. He and Diana didn't have much in common. Perhaps she wished for a partner who shared more of her interests too.

Just because you're not fond of it doesn't mean Charles can't enjoy it. But their marriage failed in no small part because they just didn't have much in common. Charles likes country life, intellectual pursuits, riding, gardening and historic preservation. Diana loved urban life and London, parties, pop music, dancing and performing. Charles couldn't expect to groom Diana in his interests if he wasn't going to try to support her in some of hers.
