Many Brits claim they created Punk Rock, but they were all at The Ramones early UK gigs taking notes...as were the kids who were at the early Iggy & the Stooges years before that! I love Punk Rock and The Ramones are arguably the genre's best ambassadors and yes, Dee Dee is my spirit animal...
@sickpup8202 жыл бұрын
The Brits pretty much did create it. It wasn't until The Ramones did that infamous gig at the Roundhouse in July 1976 and met the Sex Pistols, The Clash and Marc Bolan that they started to see the fruits of their labor and success after the debut Ramones album flopped in the States.

It may surprise you to know, and in no way am I dissing The Ramones, I luv em! But prior to the NY "Punk" scene, or whatever you want to call it, Clem Burke was in England & caught a Dr Feelgood's show, he was knocked out by the bands raw energy & rtn'd to NY with a copy of Down By The Jetty. All the original crowd at Max's & CBGB's heard that platter & went on to create some great bands and music. Of course, NY already had a first, The New York Dolls, but the Feelgood's had a real kinda London Wide boy/Gangster attitude, poles apart from The Dolls but both were influencers, on the whole "Punk Rock" scene that followed. Here's to The Ramones, especially that first LP 🙂

It is wild to hear that you actually knew them in some way. And to call them your real friends like that just makes it even better to me. Most of us could never be able to have genuine relationships with anyone famous, let alone legendary pop culture icons like the Ramones, only able to imagine such parasocial interactions (like I do with the goddess Selene. Yes, I am a huge dork, and I apologize for getting weird with that 😂)…but you managed to make it happen. All I can say to you is rock on 🤘

(Lulus) The place was sold out...but the security didn't know what to do as they weren't used to this type of crowd. There was stage diving everywhere, and security threw a lot of people out the back door. Joey went out another door and brought them all back in! A classic night.
