Impressive... Rupert talks to adults and young people with the same empathy and understanding and patience and no traces of ego. Not many teachers can do that, especially on such sensitive subjects. Actually no one that I know of. You can see he sincerely enjoys talking to this young person as well...

Indeed as someone already said this boy has insights that are deeper than what we usually see in adults. The question "is it because we limit ourselves?" is spot on, but it seems Rupert had not many experiences on this subject or examples to illustrate or take advantage of this question. Yes, my little clever boy, it's because we limit ourselves. We were taught not to believe that we can. But once we ACTUALLY open our beliefs to the possibilities of mind and magic, the gates will gradually open and magic becomes a natural part of our life. Rupert gets a good path when he asks "how do you know your mind is not affecting the world?" Yes, everything starts with perception. First we begin to realize that magic is happening in tiny events and then they may gradually increase towards some "impossible" things. Once we perceive magic is already happening, our beliefs expand and we begin to ALLOW ourselves to partake in the process. Its really a matter of allowing. Its odd to perceive along this process how many limiting beliefs we have such like "oh, such things just dont happen" or "it doesnt work that way"... but it works and its ALWAYS working that way. The whole world is just a pure magical process of mental projection. This process remains disguised simply because all creation is symbolic. The world is a kind of metaphor of our inner processes. However... in order to understand or consciously take part in this process, we have to stick to the real miracle, which is the connection to the Absolute. Everytime we are in deep connection, the "traces of the infinite within the finite" (to use this brilliant phrase of the boy) become more evident. The purpose of connection, however, should not be a bargain, its not about sticking to awareness to receive the magic. We must stick to awareness for awareness itself, it is its own reward. Magic is a mere side effect of it, by the way a pretty tiny effect when compared to what awareness does to our whole being.

The answer is: You ARE magic. The mere fact that you are here (apparently) is magic. Reality is non-dual and so it is *impossible* that you are here in a body or that the universe exists is magical and a miracle. When one knows who they really are - simple, non-dual awareness - then everything is magical without exception.

@@sourabh369 Of course one can realize the truth without a guru. Maharshi himself said so, though he beloved a guru was able to channel the grace of God and thus help with the revelation of our true nature. All is needed to "do" is to be still and sit with the "I Am". Bring your attention continually to the Amness of your being, to the knowing that "I Am". All else will follow.

He didn't ask at all about miracles. He quite specifically asked about spell magic and whether that's a practice of connection to Source. And the answer should have been yes. Shamans, Wiccans etc. all use rituals to connect with the higher self and/or subconscious mind by means of focus and / or trance. And this work does yield results in the "real world out there". So yes, (spell) magic definitely exists. The kid didn't ask anything about telekinesis or "everyday miracles" such as thinking of someone and then receiving a call from that person, or how a happy thought in the mind makes the body excited. I enjoyed Rupert's wisdom as always, but you'd think that the answer would address the question a little bit more. Especially if he pauses for 60 seconds before answering. Maybe Rupert didn't really understand the question.

Q: does magic exist R: what do you mean by magic? You mean what goes beyond physics? Like being able to bend a spoon with your mind? Q: It’s highly unlikely but yes R: when you get excited does your heart rate get faster? Do you get a tingly and strange feeling in your chest? Q: yes R: Then that would mean that something in your body has changed. Now the stuff that this lamp is made of, the molecules are almost identical to the ones your body is made out of. So if your excited mental experience can have an effect on your body, why can’t your experience have an effect on the world? after all your body is a product of the world? It’s made of the same stuff. So if excitement can change your body why can’t your excitement change the world?

I think what the kid was driving at is if there is magic or miracles, like for example Jesus raising the dead, what is the process? Or maybe that is just the question I wanted answered. And further, does the miracle-worker engage or manipulate mind from his/her platform of Consciousness and use intention? Or does the miracle-worker just release mind and matter and allow Consciousness to create as it did in the beginning, something out of nothing? Boy, oh boy, I would like that question answered.

Yes thoughts can change the outside like they can change your feelings and there are some empirical evidences on this thought/matter process, however the difference is huge. The brain effects the feelings in the body hugely but the change of a distant lamp is so minute, it is is almost non existent. This is not my opinion, it is a direct observation. Yes, people can meet up through synchronicity due to many factors, one being the same thoughts like atoms in two places at the same time, however people can also meet up through pure accident when the totality just align two parts for no reason whatsoever. Similar to me bumping into the postman this afternoon, nice to see him but I seriously cannot see any purpose at all. It is not all Deepak Chopra land, lol. Although the western egotism loves to believe otherwise to give it the self sense of specialness and importance. It is such a shame Rupert has not transcended his own self importance coming from this transparent ignorance, unconscious but often benign egotism and the hocus pocus of the British class system. Upper middle class people like my husband simply cannot see their own cringe worthy sense of exaggeration over others, for them it just goes without saying. On nonduality, I see all non dual teachers not as celebrities but just people like all of us, no more and no less and this is the accurate perception and not western individualistic delusion that contemporary nonduality has descended into.The fact that automatically they project an image of people writing these posts lesser than their self image shows a lot of this stuff is still connected to hot air delusion. It leads to speaking to adults like he is speaking to this child. The idea they are some how special is ridiculous. There are lots of insightful stuff in the non dual community but it is also based on an unconscious and presumptive sense of superiority forming ones identify. Read David Carse, they all copied off him pretty much and use it to try and be a celebrity not a guru, although give Spira some credit because he does sense awareness and does articulate it well.

You don't know. Magic we presume the a questioner means things that happen outside laws in physics and not hogwarts. So no there is no magic but things that happen in physical dynamics that are unusual. Some good and some very, very bad. Then there is just life that is not magic but suffering.

I'm sure I'm not . You will notice the condition is everywhere except in the place before feelings and thought 's arise . You may notice that all beings suffer everyday and enormous suffering is never far away. So in spiritual practice I have found this is indeed a noble truth and a necessary step of realisation. Have you not encountered tremendous suffering. Not noticed it every day?. The suffering can't be escaped at all. Many of the attacks
@glynemartin
@glynemartin 6 жыл бұрын
_"You may notice that all beings suffer everyday and enormous suffering is never far away."_ ...??..??.. Unlike yourself, i can't say for sure that i definitely know, without a doubt, how other beings or creatures feel about their own existence. From my own point of view and experience...suffering is totally based on your own (personal) internal digestion and perception of your life's challenges. It is possible to *suffer* less than someone else who has the exact same injuries as yourself for example...or suffer more...it's YOUR choice. That life is filled with challenges cannot be denied...and that the body is impermanent cannot be denied...but everything passes. If that is suffering to you...on account of how you interpret the Buddha's teaching...that's your choice too. If our essential nature is unconditioned..(and definitely *not* the state of suffering which *IS* a conditioned state by the way) and as Maharishi Mahesh Yogi said... "Bliss is our essential Nature." why do YOU choose to interpret the Buddha's teaching the way you do?...beats me. It seems to me...i could be wrong here...that you are living your life *in constant anticipation of suffering* and THAT, in and of itself *is suffering* my friend. Anticipation of suffering, pain, loss etc amounts to FEAR...which impacts on me ...as the *ultimate suffering* so you may in fact be fulfilling your own prophesies. as it were... Peace...
