Had Sushui been successful in stopping the clan coup and kept Danzo from getting his sharingan, Itachi would've been the 5th Hokage. Hiruzen said it himself that he possessed all the qualities of a Kage at a young age and would've been his successor if not for Danzo and the Uchiha coup.

@русский шпион The 7th Hokage will be definitely be Sarada Uchiha (after the battle between Kawaki and Boruto) and the only reason i say it will take that long is because there wont be enough time between the "death" of naruto and Sarada becoming hokage for a decision to be made for a different hokage. and besides i know it isnt something that boruto will want simply based on who his teacher is.

Unfortunately while Tsunade is a very skilled medical ninja I personally just don’t believe she could heal something this bad since his body had been deteriorating for so long the damage might’ve been too severe for her to heal him. Stress killed him. Think about it He had to kill his entire family at age 13 or so i believe just to protect his home town (village) from a potential war. That shit would mentally and emtionally scar a child into adulthood for life. On top of it he now had to live a life being hated by everyone even his own little brother (even though he knew he would pay that price but still) Whatever sickness he had it was minor. The mangekyou together with stress amplified it and killed him in his final battle.

True that was his goal in the end to make sure Sasuke was strong enough because Itachi could not do it because of his illness and emotional distress. Itachi could have been much much much more powerful if he wanted too, I don’t that was his goal at all. In the end, he let his brother end him. Itachi was still far more powerful than Sasuke when he let him kill him. It’s crazy how powerful Itachi got on his own. Sasuke got powerful with some help but Itachi was just so strong on his own and learned his own way.

I would say the the Edo Tensei is both a buff and a nerf. Buff on the basis of immortality, no fatigue etc. Nerf on the basis of lowered stats. I would argue that Edo Itachi still had the disease but since Zombies feel no pain and has no blood, the symptoms might have most likely not shown.

When Itachi and Kisame first met, Itachi told Kisame that 'those who attack a fellow comrade will suffer a horrible death', after Kisame raised his weapon at him, this is ironic as Kisame died by suicide via eaten by sharks. I feel Itachi was speaking from his own experience in killing off his own clan, like the manga said and like Kisame, Itachi was being eaten alive, mentally and physically- he sacrificed himself in everyway.

Itachi is a brilliant written character if one thinks - a guy bearing emotions inside yet inexplicably powerful yet concerned! It's better to live like a hero for a short time rather than living long life without no recognition!! Itachi lived like a Legend- blend of all sorts of emotions in a character, excellence 👌👌 Same goes for Nagato aka Pain too for me at least- these two characters are so great👌

Also, remember that one of the plot lines that describes what made Itachi so compassionate was he actually fought in the 3 Ninja War as a child. He would do anything and everything to prevent Sasuke from ever experiencing like that. I believe that is another reason he agreed to end his Clan. Because they were so willing to go to War with the Leaf Village.

+AnimeBallsDeep I believe he has a disorder I know all to well cause I have it and its known as conversion disorder. It is a nuero-psychosomatic disease that can cause some severe physical problems due to the extreme stress it puts on the body and mind. It can cause your heart to beat slower and hard (my heart rate is only 45-50) and your brain to develop lesions(scars) overtime. During conversion episodes you can start to go blind and a sense of impaired judgment as for the blood he prefusuly threw up his heart could've finally "broke" keep in mind that overtime a conversion patients heart rate can slow down extremely, but when you have conversion disorder and in the midst of an episode your heart rate will rapidly speed up(almost like having a panic attack) which can cause a medical problem known as taktsubo cardiomyopathy(broken heart syndrom) those "heart siezures" you're talking about is his heart finally giving out which would explain why he grabbed his heart and coughed up blood (I've personally had to stay in a hospital for a couple days due to it) that about wraps it up what do you think?

This could be an interesting hypotesis. Itachi gaining an Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan and become even more powerful, but still that illness would taken him down. And then Sasuke trying to combine his Mangekyo with that Eternal Mangekyo and make him 3 times stronger.

@@zayed9390 Kakashi was mkre conservative on his use of the MS. He rested his body after every battke before Kamui could do any permanent damage to his vision. When he encounters Itachi his explanation of how Itachi's MS affect his eyes show that Kakashi was fully aware of the dangers of the MS from early in Shippuden. But during the war arc he had to spam Kamui almost non-stop for 3 days. By the time Madara became 10 tails jinjuuriki Kakashi stated his Sharingan eye was almost blind. Kakashi's sharingan was healed and cured from blindness when black zetsu implanted the eye back into Obito, who had Hashirama's cells.

The fact is that Itachi was plagued by a terminal disease for quite some time. He had been keeping himself alive just for Sasuke's sake. He not only wanted to die by Sasuke's hands (so that the Uchiha honor is restored), he also wanted to educate Sasuke on the powers of the Mangekyo Sharingan.

@8:40 I remember hearing that itachi always aimed to make his battles as quick as possible as he wasn’t a fan of fighting to begin with. Which explains why he’d use the genjutsu he does (kakashi for example) so he can end his opponents in an instant. Not more so due to lack of stam, although stam was an issue. He was a kind - hearted character, and trying to end your enemies in seconds when forced to battle supports the idea altogether. The way I see it is that... itachi was always in his head with a very depressed mind-set. For example, back when Orochimaru told him of the meaning of life, he’d repeat to himself that life begins and life ends without a purpose. It weighed in on him in such a harmful way that he jumped off a cliff. Not handling the concept of life and death, you can only imagine what killing your loved ones can do to a mind like that. Your mental state deteriorates and so does your physical health. Immune system weakens making way for disease to settle in and that’s what we ended up with. Not to mention his MS was also a strain on his health.

This is why i never understood why people said itachi had low chakra reserves and stamina. The guy was using multiple mangekyo abilities when he came to the village with kisame in naruto part 1. During that same time, kakashi, an older ninja would completely deplete his chakra with a couple of uses of lightningblade. Now when you look at the fight, sasuke vs itachi, itachi uses: genjutsu, genjutsu reversal, shuriken jutsu clash, itach gets injured by a fuma shuriken, tsukuyomi, gets injured by tsukuyomi breaking, massive fireball jutsu, amaterasu, susanoo, maintains susanoo as he fights orochimaru's snakes, slowly walks to sasuke with his susanoo out until his very last breath. He did all that while he was injured and on his death bed, kept alive by medicine so he could fight sasuke. During that same fight sasuke used up all of his chakra doing using less intense jutsu. Knowing this how can anybofy justify the low chakra claim?

Another reason could be the time Itachi used the Tsukuyomi-Jutsu with his Magekyou on Izumi Uchiha. He kept her in this Jutsu for 60 years (!) Grew old with her made her feel every single day. This needed so much chakra it's really impossible to imagine. It must have drained and weakened him to the point of him getting the "disease". The body can regenerate itself but Itachi crossed the line and simply destroyed himself from the inside.

So this feels really creepy. I started watching Naruto as a child and just very recently got back into it. Itachi has been my favorite character since his first appearance. Fast foreward to last year I got diagnosed with SLE aka. Lupus. Unironically ALL Symptoms Itachi is experiencing can be caused by Lupus. Couldn't u combine both theories? The pain Itachi endured the night he killed the clan and overuse of his eyes caused the medically explained disease to develop in him as an extreme side effect. Like for some reason all the ocular jutsu in Naruto seems to give everyone a strength boost so it seems safe to say that the ocular jutsu affect the body of the user.
