Good summary, for sure, but I think one point is missing: When Xavi addresses the media and says "there will never be an Alex Ferguson here, you won't allow it", he clearly insinuates that there's toxicity coming from the press. Facing questions as to why the club isn't currently as great as the press expects it to be, can be hard. There's almost an expectation to win every game, whoever the opponent, and regardless of internal struggles (injuries, underperforming players, stress, etc.). I think that can take away from the joy. The only thing that surprises me is that Xavi, of all people, ought to know that feeling. Ought to know the stress Barca coaches face. Ought to know the press. So perhaps the background noise around Laporta, Mendes, and Deco do matter, as he would presumably not have known those dynamics in great detail.
