Sat next to Anthony in the airport a few years back and got on the same plane to Chicago but didnt wanna be a jerk and ask for a pic as he had his full family with him. That small moment I got to see him be a good family man made me root for the dude and I wont stop that cause some twitter accounts got upset at some of his comments.

I’ve always been an Anthony Smith fan. He looks like someone that you would walk across the street to avoid. But he’s not only a great fighter, he’s a great man. He’s intelligent and has a career as a commentator/analyst when he hangs up the gloves. In fact, he’s already kicking butt at it. Class act and always dangerous in the octagon.

I did criminal defense for a while and have interviewed people in jails & prisons, and for some reason Smith just looks like a stereotypical prison inmate to me. I hate that I see him that way because by all accounts he’s a really nice guy. Sure seems to be. But he absolutely looks like someone who you want to avoid, he looks like he’s spent the majority of his life behind bars. Maybe it’s the tattoos, bald head, dark eyes… I dunno. Can’t put my finger on it. Except I’ve seen him wear white a lot and in my state all prison uniforms are white. But whatever - I am a fan, he’s a very good, experienced fighter, he’s not gonna be champ but I was happy for him with the win at 301. Just sucks it had to be on 301, probably worst selling ppv of the last 10 years. At least.

As someone with a striking background, I always nit pick the striking because I’m a weirdo. I couldn’t help but notice how sharp Anthony’s boxing was compared to the past couple fights, he never looks like he has a great physique, but you could tell he worked his ass off and wanted the win. Surprised by the outcome, but glad to see Anthony get the w.

This is the same guy saying Jon jones wasn’t that good.. saying he’s just really coachable and if you take his skills away he’s not that great…. He comes off like a nice guy but he’s disrespectful while sounding nice… kinda doesn’t count.. and I like the guy… but I see why he gets the hate as well.

Anthony Smith is awesome. I left home from abuse at 11 years old. I did wrestle from 5yrs old & my coach & 3 state champs were my neighbors growing up so wrestled nonstop. I was big kid. Anyway point is i was in well over 400 fights 200 of them were for my life on NYC streets. I was known scaring the crap out of ppl with a look before fight started and my pace. I’ve always liked Anthony so one day 2 of my friends said that when Anthony is the cage before fight that his pacing and stare down across the ring is kind of my stare down when I’m checked out mentally and it’s time to go. I didn’t lose any fights after i left home because i said nobody would ever touch me again and if they chose me I’d at least make them remember me forever. Even if that meant ripping half their nostril or ear from their head. My fights were real fights no backyard -move the kiddy pool fights. These were alleys at 2am & in full juvenile lockdown and prison. Anyway I’m droning. Anthony is the only one who gives me that feeling when he’s is in there waiting to fight. He would’ve won that Jon jones fight not just with a head nod but with just a little more self belief because he had everything he needed to beat Jon that night and just ran out of ideas. He took everything Jon threw at him and Jon couldn’t finish him on the ground -the fight was never over-Jon couldn’t do anything to finish him and he couldn’t get and idea of what to do when he’s standing there with Jon and he can takes Jon’s strikes and couldn’t get submitted. In my mind if he would’ve had the right idea come in his head during that fight he would’ve shocked Jon -Jon was frustrated he couldn’t finish him. So instead of gaining confidence from that he let it hurt just a little. Then came the home intruder he had. It has taken Anthony all this time to shake that off. He finally just did. You can now see it it his eyes and his words he’s at peace. The reason i say the home intruder changed him was that a guy dared to enter his unlocked house and Anthony was a foot taller than him and had him by 70 pounds and was a pro fighter and he really struggled to mangle the guy. The guy was beat up a little but nowhere like he should’ve been and Anthony explains the story and as he did you could see it crushed him that he couldn’t do much to the guy-he was beating on him and the guy kept going-it’s like the bad dream we a;l have and it happened to him and real life. I don’t think ppl really knew how much that took from him-how much he let that take from him. He let that eat him up. This is the first fight he didn’t have it in his eyes. Lion heart is healed up mentally back for round 2. Next came the teeth falling out in the Glover fight-you could see that instantly in the fight he was panicking. That’s another bad dream we all have with our teeth falling out. This guy is living some bad dreams. Most ppl would think oh who cares about a tooth-his teeth were dropping out of his head while Glover laying on him-that’s crazy. Anyway it’s good to see him back and that’s a huge win confidence booster and he always had it just had to shake everything else and find it again. I’m a bit concerned of his health. I know he’s 35 but something is off with his body-those teeth falling out started to make me think something was up with him because they don’t fall out like that normally and he’s looking very soft in chest and core. His chest is gone compared to just a little while ago-I’m not sure if he has some kind of i jury and can’t hit chest but it’s a big noticeable difference in his muscle tone and that doesn’t happen at 35. I feel like there is something going on health wise a little. I pray not but it feels that way. Maybe his diet is doing it who knows. Awesome fight and awesome to see him humble that arrogant steriod head.

I once met Anthony Smith at a gas station. As i was filling up my car Anthony begun to make comment's about the terrible rain wed been experiencing in texas at that time. Me obviously being a fan and also thrown off he would speak too me first i tripped over the fuel hose ripping out of my car. Fuel spilled everywhere in the puddles of rain. Anthony immediately stopped what he was doing and ran over and apologised for the distraction and offered to pay for my gas. He then looked at the puddle of petroleum on the floor and said what a waste. He immediately got on all fours and began slurping the puddle up like a cat. Such a kind individual

i really like anthony smith the person, but the real story is that smith looked like his usual late career fish-out-of-water in a striking match; covering his face when he's out of range, but failing to snap the coverage into place when danger appears. thankfully the fight was too short to see the third plank of his striking game, where he gets smashed in the face and spends a couple of minutes covering up like he just remembered what he's supposed to do. and somehow he got lucky and a tight choke fell into his lap. so really, i'm pleased for him, but now he'll probably get *yet another* main event, and he'll be beaten to a bloody pulp in one more dangerously lopsided striking match, and people will praise him for not passing into unconsciousness while he becomes unrecognisable
