You were not on the “real” streets. You were on the lowered socio-economic level (poor) side of town. Everywhere in Mississippi is not full of “crime and poverty “. Go back to Florida to train your wife to get out of hood situations and leave other states alone. There’s plenty of crime and poverty there! If you “don’t wanna be” in Mississippi, please move on!

You drove within a couple of blocks of these places. You missed Hardy Street and Midtown. We do have a hispanic population, but they are not restricted to one neighborhood. Nobody saw your out-of-state tags and freaked (or targeted you for crime). We have two universities and a great military base. We are used to visitors. Too bad you missed a very easy-to-find visitors center. So sad you came to Hattiesburg and missed seeing it and experiencing it. You missed the Long Leaf Trace and murals.

Your sarcastic remarks make me not want to watch your other videos. I've lived in Mississippi my entire life. It's the same as any other place, good and bad areas and people. It is sad the way the older part of town is today, but this is only 10 percent of Hattiesburg. You can go to any town and highlight the bad areas. I lived in Hattiesburg in the 80's and 90's. And spent a lot of time there growing up in the 60's and 70's. The neighborhoods you go into were very nice when I was younger. At the tower you saw there was a Farmer's coop at that intersection where we would go and get seeds, flowers and things my mother would grow. On the left there was a boxing gym I believe. On Main street we did all our shopping at the stores there were on it. Down on Bouie and toward Pine street were several car parts stores etc.. where my father would go and get his parts for our cars etc. It's sad seeing all the businesses gone. The downtown had several large building that were torn down for parking areas. One of the mayors in the 70's or 80's owed a business down town and he poured money into down town trying to make it better. The police station you pass was the Methodist Hospital before 1980 or so. It moved to West Hattiesburg in the 80's. I was there for a few days in 1970 for pneumonia. I remember it had wooden/wicker wheel chairs.

It’s a trend in all his Mississippi videos. He doesn’t like it, which is totally his prerogative. I’m not claiming it’s the best place in the country by any stretch of the imagination, but there are absolutely nicer areas aside from the coast. Very rarely does he show them. Hattiesburg, specifically, has a really unique and diverse culture heavily influenced by the 2 universities there, and the incredible local businesses that are the heart and soul of the town. I also think Hattiesburg has some of the best food (quality and variety), and I’ve visited many states all over the country. There is also an abundance of great local coffee shops to visit besides Starbucks, so if that’s your gauge for quality, then I guess it tells me all I need to know:)

You are only covering majority of the west side of the city (near Petal) and you’re riding near Main Street near a “Vintage” part of the city… of course things may seem a little shabby…. if you travel a little further out towards the University or Hwy 98 you would find sightings that may be to your liking…..
